Have Game, Will Play
Apr. 13th, 2007 11:03 pmDoing a little Jetpack Doc. Game's still as fun as I remember. :)
-D: I still want to know what on earth it is he's shooting at those kids.-
Nerf balls? Got me. I wonder if I'll ever get back up to my old record.
-VD: Depends on how long you have it for.-
Well, it's fun, and it's a nice break from Spider Solitaire and Exile.
-VD: And it's BTTF-themed, which is a plus with us.-
Exactly. :)
-OD: How was work today? *tentacles chatter* The boys noted you weren't in a horrid mood.-
Eh, better than yesterday -- customers were more spread out. And I got two pages on "From the Ashes Reborn," so I can't complain. I do have a few specific thoughts:
-->It looked like we lost a slip for a while -- I finally spotted it in with the URI/Pt Judith orders (it was a Pt Judith order, but tagged in with one of OUR tag sets instead of theirs). It would just figure we'd lose slip number 666 on Friday the 13th.
-->Do my customers have the brainworms? Why is it half the people who write checks have to ask me the name of the cleaner's?! How could they not KNOW? *shakehead*
-->Friday the 13th was anything but unlucky for business today -- we took in near $2000 dollars in one drawer.
-->Next week, one of my coworkers is on vacation, so I get to come in early the whole week. Joy.
-M: I think you're planning a humor fic where I get slammed in my job.-
-MF: *sniffs the plotbunnies*-
A few vague ideas, yes. Luckily, most of the horror stories I've heard and not experienced. So you may get off yet.
-HD: What are you planning to do this weekend?-
-MHG: You owe us another chapter.-
I know, I'm working on it. The usual editing's always up, and I want to start on "What Lies Within," the long
backtothefanfic challenge fic. I'm a little nervous -- the only chapter stories I've ever "freewritten" are "Catfight" and "The Doc Hunter." Can I do angst without a guide?
-DW: Well, these plot bunnies are pretty well formed.-
-VD2: Go ahead and give it a try. If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything. *pause* Except getting in our pants.-
Oh, I can get in your pants very easily.
-VD2: *raises eyebrow* Really.-
Yup. *leaves room*
*returns wearing a pair of multi-pocketed khakis* See? I'm in your pants.
-HD: *giggle*-
-WRM: I wouldn't laugh, those might be YOUR pants.-
HatterDoc wears khakis?
-HD: Infrequently. The multiple pockets are nice for extra storage.-
-TD: I have a pair too, mostly for lab wear. Which reminds me, I need to throw them in the wash.-
Huh. I just never thought about you guys dressing like 1985 Doc.
-TD: It happens. We like pockets.-
Heh. Anyway, yeah, I'll see about starting that this weekend. In addition, I'll be doing some editing to "The Abominable Doc Brown," since it's the lead-in. I've already moved the story up to late March/early April of 1986, since "Congraduation" implied Marty and Clara were getting along better.
-VD2: Interesting. I'll talk to TrilogyDoc and see if he has anything to say.-
-OD: Can you pretend to work on fanart?-
I'll do my best. I do have sketches of White Rabbit Marty and March Hare George's heads.
-OD: *tentacles chatter* It's a start, yes.-
-RPD: What about Sims?-
In honor of the date, I played the Elder Tannens. They're doing as well as can be expected. Though I had a funny moment with them early on. You see, as seems to happen for me in the summer, the Tannens got a brief hail storm. Now, I wasn't too concerned by this -- they were inside, getting ready to satisfy needs --
All of a sudden, they stop and do the "wow, weather!" thing. Now, I have a hack to stop this unless the Sims are doing nothing at all, so I was confused.
Then I remembered the Elder Tannens don't have a roof.

"There's weather in my house!"
-VuM: *snort*-
-M: *grin* That came back to bite you on the ass, huh?-
Yup. I roofed up, and all was good. Thought it was funny to see that interaction.
Anyway, they had a pretty average day. I put the summer bonus to good use and had Buford call his friend Lakshmi, the Gypsy Matchmaker. (Considering the dates I've gotten with matchmakers, they're probably a great match.)

I also created a garden plot and fishing pond for them to use. Mostly because I don't have too much to do with them. Growing stuff is always useful.

Gertrude planted some tomatoes, while Buford spent a good chunk of the late morning/early afternoon fishing. Did pretty well, too -- two bass and a catfish.

As you can see in one of the previous pictures, Jiff happened to drop by. Always a fan of the generations meeting, I had Gertrude chat him up. They got along pretty well, even if Jiff rejected a hug.

After Jiff left, Buford and Gertrude ended up sharing Buford's bass with squash. That fresh food really fills a sim up!

Random shot of a dirty counter. Never seen one close up before.

Clara wandered by -- I sent Buford out to greet her and let things run. Clara proved she hadn't read the script by admiring him.

That's better -- Buford brags about meeting Strickland. Clara is Not Impressed. "Why did I admire this guy again?"
-VD: *sarcasm* Yes, Marshall Strickland would be THRILLED to have Buford be best friends with one of his descendants.-

"You like CHILI? What kind of freak are you?"

Buford annoys.
-VM: The understatement of the fricking CENTURY.-

Aaand, back to not reading the script. In the background, Gertrude acts more sensibly and befriends her great-grandson Jiff.

Buford gets his other bass mounted. I want to save the catfish for a meal.

Average night at the Tannen household -- fireflies, the skunk, and leaves everywhere. At least Gertrude will have plenty of compost soon.

Okay, I think I'll actually do some writing.
-Docs: *fake shock, horror*-
Ha ha ha. You boys are a laugh riot.
-TTV: Can we watch MST3K?-
-D: Victor!-
-TTV: I'm sorry, but I just got a call from Maudeline. I need something to cheer myself up.-
-HD: *evil* Bring her over here sometime, that should cheer you up immensely.-
-TTV: Some days, I'm almost tempted.-
Writing first!

Date: 2007-04-14 09:58 pm (UTC)For instance, our cooperative market used to be called the White River Cooperative (Or something to that effect. It's been a while since they changed it). Now, it's the Randolph Cooperative Market, well, until they close in about a week. They really hated it when people still wrote checks for the WRC after the name change. It was funny, because before the change, people would call it the "Randolph Co-op". (Nearly everyone I know associates White River anything with the city of White River Junction and not with the White River that snakes through the town. LOL!).
