crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (feeling sparky/creative)

Reading "A Christmas Carol" is helping with that a lot. And now I have the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in the background, which also helps.
-TD: *makes the tree dance to it*-
-M: This is "Christmas in Sarejevo," right?-
Bingo. :) You hear this one on the radio a lot.
-M2: This isn't the one where the house flashes along, though.-
No. But that song's cool too. *goes to find it*
-VD: *patpat* Good to see you in a better mood.-
Well, wasn't too crazy at the store today. Pretty much dead, actually. I went nuts with with "Cinder-Marty" and got 2 1/2 pages done. Which brings my total for that up to SIX.
-Docs: *applause*-
-TTV: *golf clap*-
Don't worry, that means I have to write three pages on "Corpse Mask" tomorrow and Friday to keep things even.
-TTV: *louder clap*-
-VD2: How's the gift fic coming?-
Finally finished Ael's, which means I can focus on Moose's and Gig's. What a relief.
-DW: Now all you need are more plotbunnies for said stories.-
Well, hustle some up! Time's awasting!
-MF: Hey, we only eat 'em, not make 'em.-
I know, I know. *thinks*
-D: Well, you still have a few days.-
Yeah, I think I'll be concentrating hard on that this weekend. Right now, though, here's the meme:
On the Seventh Day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me:

“You know, I thought the Pool of Tears would have frozen over too.”
“Not cold enough yet. Tears are technically salt water, and that has a lower freezing point than regular water.”
“Oh, I see.” Alice pulled her coat tighter around herself as she watched the swans swimming on the lake. “I didn’t realize Wonderland even had winter. When I came here as a child, it was always spring weather.”
The Mad Hatter, standing next to her, shrugged. “It came on rather suddenly. It’s your head that affects us, Alice – maybe now that you’re older, you want a Wonderland with seasons?” He smiled. “At any rate, it’s an improvement on the old weather.”
Alice smiled back. “True enough.” She looked the Hatter up and down. “Aren’t you cold? You’re only wearing a scarf. . . .”
Hatter looked a little awkward. “Well, I – I don’t really get all that cold anymore, Alice. I do have to keep the gears and such from freezing, but that’s pretty simple with a cup of hot tea. The scarf takes care of everything else.”
Alice frowned at him, concerned. “I don’t understand why you’re still like this. I saved Wonderland. Most everything’s good again. Yes, the chess pieces are still at war, and the Tulgey Woods are still somewhat dangerous, but it was like that before! Hare and Dormouse are all right again – why not you?”
Hatter sighed. “Well, I guess part of it is because I feel I deserve it. I did some very awful things, Alice, you can’t deny that.” He looked at the ground. “What kind of person operates on their own friends like that?”
“The kind of person who was corrupted by the Red Queen of Hearts,” Alice said firmly. “You did horrible things, but so did I. You can’t deny I killed quite a lot of people and other Wonderlanders. And don’t start about the greater good, either. If I hadn’t had such a terrible time with Mum and Dad’s deaths. . . .” She looked down too. “Hatter, it’s all my fault anyway. You don’t have to punish yourself.”
“Oh, Alice.” Hatter slipped an arm around her. “None of us blame you, you know that. You were only seven when it happened. Any child would have had a hard time coping. And you did save us all in the end.” He smiled at her. “That’s the good thing about having a world of your own – you can remake it any way you like.”
“Then why are you still this half-mechanical creature?”
Hatter looked embarrassed. “Well, I – I – I kind of – like being this way,” he admitted softly. “It has its advantages. And I like tinkering with things other than just hats. Not on Wonderlanders anymore, oh no, but mechanical creations on their own. . . .” He smiled shyly. “And I must say, the height gain is very nice.”
Alice shook her head. “My dear Hatter, you are very very strange indeed.”
Hatter grinned at her. “You wouldn’t have me any other way.”
Alice grinned back and leaned against him. “You’re right,” she said, looking up at him. “I wouldn’t.”

-HD: . . . I'm surprised. No Richard?-
You have NO idea the amount of self-control I had to excercise not to call him that. . . . This is an American McGee's Alice fic, thus touching on my last fandom. This is set post-game, where Alice has won the battle with the Red Queen and saved Wonderland. I thought it would be nice to show a Winter Wonderland--
-WHG: *blinking* Was that a pun? It's hard to tell.-
I'm not sure myself. Anyway, I had to get the swans or swimming in there, and I decided to throw in a reference to the Pool of Tears. I don't know what the freezing temperature for salt water is -- just that it's lower than regular water.
-D: I assume Richard -- ahem, Hatter -- looks more like his fanart self than his game self?-
Well, that goes without saying. He has changed a little. But I like Mr. Mechanical. On the side of good, cyborgish mad scientists can be pretty darn hot.
-OD: *tentacles chitter* No, kids, that does not automatically make us the favorite. Though it does answer the question of why, when making us a changeling, she foreswore the clear Wizened angle for the Elemental one.-
So I think gears can be sexy. So sue me.
-VuM: What's with the height gain?-
Well, most versions of the Hatter draw him as rather short, you see. The American McGee version, by contrast, is very tall.
-J: *teasingly* Yeah, but it's not the size that counts.-
-M: *rolls eyes*-
Anyway, just a cute little piece with a bit of a shippy angle. Legal!Alice/Hatter is darn near an OTP with me. :p

Okay, time to finish up another trawl on TV Tropes. Searching out tropes I haven't seen before.
-VDM: There's still some you haven't seen?-
*ignores him*
