Life Is Quiet
Jun. 12th, 2008 10:33 pmToday was better than yesterday at work -- no absolutely last minute customers, thank God. I got my page on "There's Always Tomorrow" and some more done on "From the Ashes Reborn," so I'm pretty good on the fanfiction front. Also did some fiddling with "Boy Genius," just for kicks.
-TD: *grin* Good! Let's get that last chapter out of the way.-
-OD: How about "The Gift and the Curse?"-
Might go for a weekend update -- let me look it over one more time, for tweaking.
-DW: And your drabbles88?-
Hmmm. Actually, let's post that now, I don't think there's much more I can do with it.

“What the hell?!”
Marty stared in frustration at the TV screen, looking like he wanted to smash it in with the fake guitar he had strapped around his shoulders. “I don’t get this!” he continued, raking his fingers through his hair. “I play a real guitar! Why do I suck so badly at this?!”
“Maybe it’s because you play a real guitar that you’re having trouble with the game,” Doc said, fiddling with his own “guitar.”
Marty gave him a look. “That makes no sense, Doc.”
“Hear me out. When it comes to guitars, you’re used to strumming strings, aren’t you?”
“Uh, yeah,” Marty said in a very “duh” voice.
“So when you pick up the controller, your first instinct is to find the strings, isn’t it?”
Marty paused and thought that over. “Yeah, actually,” he said, looking at the neck of the “guitar.” “I can’t get used to the fact that I’m supposed to push buttons.”
“Exactly!” Doc said with a grin. “Which means you lose your timing. And since timing is so crucial to ‘Guitar Hero,’ you end up doing poorly. Nothing to it.”
Marty nodded, starting to blush. “Yeah. That makes sense.” He glanced up at his friend. “Sorry for snapping at you a bit before. I’m just sick of coming in dead last whenever we play together. I mean, I know these songs. You think I’d be able to play them, buttons or no buttons.”
Doc regarded the controllers thoughtfully. “Hmmm. Well, if you want, I can try and modify your controller. Shouldn’t be too hard to reassign the button functions to a series of strings.”
“Really? That would be awesome, thanks,” Marty said, smiling. “I got a spare pack of strings at home, if you want ‘em.”
“Sure. Though it might take a few days, depending on how complicated the electronics are.”
“I can wait.” Marty gave his friend an evil smirk. “And then, your ass is mine.”
Doc smirked back. “Oh, really. Come on, once more in Battle Mode.”
I've had this idea in various forms for a while now, but you can blame
foxywriter for getting me to actually write it down.
-M: *annoyed* I wouldn't suck at Guitar Hero!-
You don't know that. I don't own the game. Besides, it's funnier if you suck. And I would swear that I read somewhere that at least one guitar player had trouble with Guitar Hero.
-MF: Why is it called "Guitar Hero" anyway? Makes me think of some guy dressed up in spandex.-
*bursts out laughing* Oh, that would actually be pretty awesome! Guitar Hero -- he beats villians with the power of ROCK!
-D: You are a strange, strange girl.-
So sue me. Anyway, enjoy the humor piece.
-HD: *beams*-
Still Rifting with
shego2drakken's character, Farley. I was gonna take him to the Med Room, but it now occurs to me that Romana's probably still in there, with her archangel guards. Hmmmm, plot twist.
-RPD: Would our Rift!self even dare to ask them for aspirin?-
Probably not, hearing about the Romanaggedon probably made him kinda scared of angels. I'll figure out something.
Anyway, gotta get to bed soon. Wish me luck -- tomorrow's Friday the 13th, and we have TONS of clothes. *fear*
