Rift-Related Talk
Jun. 22nd, 2008 04:27 pmWell, no action in the lobby, but Rift!Doc is having playtime anyway. He's run into Aubrey's fae friend Bella in the hallway, and -- *drumroll please* --
He's grabbed the Doctor's Chameleon Arch watch.
-RPM: Bzuh?-
-RPD: What? How? The Doctor --
The Doctor's human incarnation, John Smith, just fell through the Rift. So did his Time Lord Essence watch.
Problem is, they fell through different Rifts. John fell through the Rift in the Doctor/Martha/Des's new house, while the watch ended up in the Conrad Basement. And since it was too good an opportunity to pass up, I sent Doc down there on the pretext of checking up on Aubrey's Rift Detection Device to retrieve it. He has yet to open it, since I have no idea how it would affect him.
-D: Oh, Great Scott.-
Hey, somebody had to take it. Hopefully this will result in interesting times.
-VD: I'm sure Rift!Doc is hoping it won't.-
Well, he doesn't get much of a say. I'll try to have at least some of it be pleasant.
-TD: This is all because you have the toy version, isn't it?-
I am a weakwilled woman, yes.
Anyway, let's have an equipment list now for Rift!Doc:
-->Psychic Journal (small leatherbound journal in red)
-->Doctor's fob watch (though he doesn't know what it is yet)
-->Folder of loose leaf paper and notes on flux capacitor (bulging, trust me)
-->Outfit #1: Blue and white checked shirt; brown pants; brown shoes; tattered, oil-stained labcoat (Ran through the Rift in this)
-->Outfit #2: Brightly patterned Hawaiian shirt; tan cargo pants; long black coat (Raided clothing closet for this, met Aubrey in it)
-->Outfit #3: Yellow and white checked shirt; new pair of brown pants (Raided clothing closet for this again, post-nightmare outfit)
-->Suitcase (found in closet while packing)
-->Socks and underwear (found in closet)
Not much, but it's what he's got at the moment. Tools and parts will come with cash.
-MF: *jokingly* And the puppy.-
NO PUPPIES.
On a different note, here's all the characters I've fantasied about apping, for whatever reason:
Rincewind: Specifically, first book Rincewind. My idea is that he'd fall through the Rift while he was falling off the edge of the Discworld. Would be in keeping with his luck, right? Rift Effect: Would have to do with his magic. I know already the Spell trapped in his mind would get forcibly left behind, but I dunno what else beyond that.
Amy Narbon-Davenport: This is my name for Helen and Dave's time-travelling daughter from "Narbonic." The idea is that, while using her parent's time machine, she'd end up going through the Rift accidentally. Dunno who I'd pick to play her, as she's just a cartoon drawing. . .but more Mad Scientists are always good, right? Rift Effect: I'm not sure what the Rift would do to her. What I DO know is that the shock would trigger her Madness breakthrough. This would be potentially nasty, given that her parents are "evil" Mad Scientists.
Alice Liddel: Of "American McGee's Alice," natch. I'm thinking post-game Alice, who steps through the Rift while entering a house of some sort. I imagine her coming through the Rift that's magically protected by Harry and company and ending up a Main Gauche character. It just seems right for Miss Butcher Knife. Rift Effect: I got this from the Cheshire Cat comic -- she can teleport through mirrors. As in, she can enter any mirror she can fit through and exit through any other mirror she wishes. She can also try it with shattered mirrors and plain-old reflective surfaces, but it's a crapshoot if she exits through the mirror she wants in those cases.
Victor Van Dort: I hear you sighing, Tie-Twister. But yeah, my interest in Corpse Bride has not waned enough to save him from possible Rift-eatage. I was thinking he falls through the Rift while escaping from Emily, in order to keep things a bit more simple on the girlfriend front. Poor guy would be badly confused by 2008. At least he doesn't have to worry about forced marriages anymore. Rift Effect: My idea is that he can leave his body and turn himself into a ghost at will for about an hour or so at a time. Also, he can never be attacked by zombies or the like. Because dead things like him.
Granted, I may never app any of these characters because my love belongs with
clockwork_doc, but it's interesting to think about. Victor and Alice are so far the strongest candidates for possible second characterage.
-DW: . . . Does this explain --
*cringe* Yeesss. My brain is evil.
-TTV: What? What? *twists tie*-
-DW: You don't want to know.-
-TTV: I probably don't, but I still worry.-
-HD: It couldn't be all that bad. *pauses* Oh, what am I saying? Of course it could be all that bad. Look who we work for.-
Ha ha.
-DW: Really, you don't want to know.-
-VD2: The problem with saying that, is that now we DO want to know.-
-OD: *Tommy* Does it just have to do with Victor??-
-DW: No.-
-OD: *Verne* Victor and Alice then?-
-DW: Yes.-
-OD: What, is Alice going to attack Victor?-
-HD: Why would she do that? I hold onto the hope that she only attacks people who deserve it.-
*nodnod* Yeah, to her regular Wonderland friends in the game she's still at least polite. Well, except to Caterpillar, but he ignores her.
-D: And why would she attack him? They're both from the same historical era. Sounds to me more like they'd commiser --
*long pause*
-D: For the love of GOD, Victoria, did you have a SHIPPING thought about them???-
I plead the Fifth!
-TTV: OH, IF THE VICTORIA AND EMILY THING WASN'T ENOUGH! *chases me around the room*-
-TD: Anybody want me to make popcorn?-
-HD: You do that and I'll go get his mallet.-

Date: 2008-06-22 09:54 pm (UTC)By the by, a spat of strange weather over here (pouring with thunder and lightning for, like, 5 minutes then sun plus just plain sunshowers) is gonna make me borrow Rift!Doc and write that story of where he meets Tempest and Mistral. If I ever get my computer working again. Just a forewarning. :p

Date: 2008-06-23 05:42 am (UTC)Have you ever read any of Lewis Carroll's other childrens' stories? He wrote a cute series called Sylvie and Bruno that isn't as well-known as the Alice series, but it's still pretty fun.
