I Promised Fic
Mar. 25th, 2009 10:41 pmSo fic you shall have! Here's a sampling of Museverse! Victor/Alice -- the one with a title, at any rate:
7. Superstar – Karaoke Night
It was a rare moment when the Inkwell Bar was completely deserted. Usually there were at least one or two people around, either staff working in the back or muses enjoying some refreshments or a game of pool or darts. Tonight, though, the bar was dark, silent, and deserted.
Victor looked around and nodded in approval. This was just the way he wanted it. Without any witnesses, he was free to have a little fun. He went behind the bar and pulled out Doc’s laptop. Recalling the computer lessons Doc and Simon had been giving him, he managed to turn it on and open the web browser. A little surfing turned up the site he wanted – YouTube. He took a moment to figure out the Search function, then finally found the right song and video. Grinning, he pulled it up and grabbed a nearby spoon to serve as a makeshift microphone. A few moments later, he was singing and dancing to the tune:
The minotaur’s my butler,
The cyclops my valet,
A centaur drives my chariot
That takes me down the way!
Over a river made of fire,
Through a street that’s paved in bones,
I’ve got a dozen zombie skeletons
To walk me to my throne!
In the Land of the Dead –
Heck, though ain’t it grand –
I’m the overlord of the Underworld
‘Cause I hold horror’s hand!
In the Land of the–
Victor froze as he spun around. Standing behind him was Alice, looking deeply amused. They looked at each other for a long moment. Then she snorted with laughter. “Funny,” she said. “I thought you hated Voltaire.”
Victor opened and shut his mouth a few times, a blush creeping up his cheeks. “I – uh – ah – he has a few good songs,” he finally mumbled, looking at his feet.
Alice giggled. “So I see.” She looked over at the computer as the song ended. “So, aren’t you going to do ‘Dead Girls Like Me’ next?”
Victor gave her a look. “I wouldn’t touch that song with a ten-foot pole.” Then he let himself smile. “Besides, unless I miss my guess, it’s not dead girls who like me.”
Alice grinned at him. “Fair enough,” she said, grabbing his tie and pulling him into a kiss. “You think Mr. Voltaire has any songs for us?”
“I don’t know. But, Victoria did introduce me to this song by a band called Ludo that she said reminded her of us.”
“Oh? Let’s hear it.”
Victor smiled and pulled her close. “Love me cancerously. . . .”
-TTV: LIES. WE NEVER DO THAT.-
. . . "We?"
-TTV: I know I'm included!-
-OD: No, you prefer "Day of the Dead."-
-TTV: I do not!-
*snork* Aaanyway, I had to do a story about Victor sneaking around to sing to Voltaire -- he and TieTwister proclaim loudly not to like him, but I think they're full of hot air.
-TTV: *grumps*-
Come on, "Dead Girls Like Me" isn't that bad.
-TTV: *glare*-
-RPD: You're fighting a losing battle here, Victoria.-
Yeah, yeah. The song by Ludo is Love Me Dead -- I used to have a Corpse Bride version favorited, but that got deleted. :( It's a funny song, and I thought it sorta fit Victor/Alice, since the Alice I use is American McGee's version. . .
-TD: For the same reasons you think of them when you hear "The Masochism Tango?"-
Pretty much. XD
-TTV: . . . *facepalm*-
It would make a great music video!
-TTV: I hope to God you never obtain video editing software.-
Actually, I might have some I just never used on this thing. Hmmm.
Not much else to say except I'm finally getting over my cold, it seems. Though my cough's back with a vengeance. Bleh.
-HD: *hands over tea* The steam might help.-
It could indeed. Thanks.
