Well, the Rift and Nexus are quiet, but the gang's getting playtime at the Inkwell, so all is good. :) Got some writing done too, and some more titles for my Victor/Alice pieces.
-VD2: Slowly getting back into the groove, I hope.-
Yeah, keep your fingers crossed. Also, remind me this weekend to upload those darn pictures off my camera. I keep putting it off.
-D: For Pac-Man, of all things.-
I know, but I've actually gotten to like the game. And suck a little less at it.
-TD: Yeah, but we've been watching you play -- IT'S THE SAME MAZE EVERY TIME!-
*shrug* I can't control the limits of the flash version!
-TD: Yes, but if you're going to play a video game, you might as well play one where the scenery changes.-
Don't tempt me. I'm procrastinating enough these days.
Anyway, since I have been spending much of my time playing Flash Pac-Man and thus have little else to report, let's have a short Victor/Alice piece. Well, I say Victor/Alice, but -- it's a little. . .
-TTV: *instantly suspicious*-
Just read it:

19. Red – Similarities
The Queen of Hearts didn’t scare Victor as much as he expected her to.
She was rather frightening, of that there was no doubt. Any being whose form seemed to be made up of mostly tentacles couldn’t help but be at least a little scary. But – it wasn’t nearly as bad as he had thought it would be. He could stand in front of her without wanting to run, speak to her without stuttering too much, let her touch him with barely a shiver.
Perhaps it was the fact that he could see Alice in her, if he looked hard enough. She had long hair like Alice, though hers was brilliant red instead of dark auburn. She had wide eyes like Alice, though hers were scarlet instead of green. She even had Alice’s basic figure, though her limbs were thick pink tentacles instead of the usual arms and legs.
And when she kissed him – through the blast of heat, power, utter madness filling his being – he’d been able to taste the faintest trace of Alice’s lips.
Maybe, in the end, having that to hold onto was what saved him.

This was actually the first fic I wrote for this series -- I knew immediately that this was what I had to do for the "Red" prompt. I mean, it's the Queen of Hearts -- of course she's going to be Red. I suppose I had to get the creepy out of my system too.
-TTV: W-why is he l-letting her k-k-kiss him?-
It's, uh, part of the plot of "The Solicitor's Ward." Victor had to go to her for help, and she -- well --
-HD: *frown* What did you do?-
It was kind of inspired by another author, really --
-DW: Don't pin this on other authors.-
-TTV: What. Did. You. Do?-
Let me put it this way. If Alice is the Queen of Hearts -- who's the King?
-TTV: *click-click-click-DING* *jawdrop* You don't. . . .-
He gets better!
-VD: What, in a straitjacket?-
Nope. *quietly* Not in the main story, anyway. Fights him on his own.
-RPD: *pause* Vic, will this affect Rift!Victor?-
. . . I'm hoping it won't.
-HD: *threatening me with a teaspoon and actually looking menacing* It had better not.-

Oookay, I'm running back to the Inkwell.
