Put that away, cowboy, I was referring to "Love Will Find A Way." I got up to the part where the Van Dorts and the Liddells meet, and -- well, there's not much love. Except between Victor and Alice, which makes things awkward.
-D: Was it really necessary to have the Van Dorts and the Liddells hate each other so much?-
There wouldn't be much conflict in the story otherwise. Barkis isn't in this -- he's long gone before the tale even starts. (Robbed Emily WITHOUT murdering her, in this version -- just left her heartbroken at the altar.) Besides, it's so funny to write everyone sniping at everyone else while Victor and Alice wonder why this is their life.
-TTV: I don't understand what that version of my family would have against the Liddells. I -- er -- understand them perhaps not being fond of mother and father, but the Liddells seem like perfectly respectable people.-
Yeah -- except that Alice's stay in Rutledge is still canon for that 'verse. So a lot of people consider her strange, and some of that transfers to her aunt and uncle by default. It breaks down like this -- the Van Dorts don't like the Liddells because they think the Liddells are "too common" and their niece too prone to scandal. (Never mind the fire wasn't her fault) The Liddells don't like the Van Dorts because they think the Van Dorts are putting on airs and trying to be something they're not at everyone else's expense.
-TTV: . . . That just means they've MET my mother and father.-
-HD: Bah, society. All that is, is lots of rules and not enough nonsense. Can't imagine why your parents would want to be part of it.-
-TTV: Frankly, neither can I. What is so wrong with upper middle class? We're rich enough, do we really need the title?-
Some people just "want it all," Victor dear.

. . . It just occurred to me that this post has featured three different Victors -- Tie-Twister Victor, Rift!Victor, and the story Victor from "Love Will Find A Way." Apparently I've been busy on the alternate front.

-DW: I think it's safe to say she likes you, Victor -- she tends to make alternates of the people she loves the most.-
-TTV: *ambivalent* I see.-
I'm gonna have to do a list in the near future, fill up some airtime on this thing. ;) Alternate Docs and alternate Victors -- because one is NEVER enough.
