The Issue Of Timelines
Jun. 20th, 2009 11:43 pmOr, one of my 30 Kisses stories needs a bit of a rewrite.
-TTV: Pardon?-
-TD: I hesitate to ask, but does this have anything to do with you looking up Victorian life expectancy?-
-TTV: O.O Did you--
Yeah, I wrote a story about Victor dying for one of the prompts. He dies at a good old ripe age, at least. Problem is, I never really thought about how old the kids would be once he kicked off. I kept thinking of them as younger than they really should be. So the section involving them has to be reworked a bit. On the plus side, this may mean Victor and Alice live to see great-grandkids.
-TTV: Goodness. . . Dare I ask how old he is when he -- dies?-
I actually haven't pinned it down yet -- I went with 80 to get the relative ages of Chester, Lucy, and Lorina. The general range I had in mind is 79 to 83. Alice dies about two years after him.
-TTV: And -- er -- my own fictional self?-
Haven't pinned that down either, honestly. I just know Victoria dies first, and Emily greets you both.
-TTV: Oh. Don't know whether I should be glad or not.-
-HD: Is this the other 'bad end' you were talking about?-
Oh, no, it's just one of the sad stories. Trust me, you'll know the Bad End when I post it.
Anyway, I should go off and make edits. Figures I'd do these calculations AFTER I finally make backups. . . .
-MF: *out of TTV's earshot* Okay, were you lying back there or what? Because these bunnies about Victor and Victoria dying in their late 40s from a disease so you can have a post-death threesome with Emily are pretty persistent.-
I didn't want him to give me that look again!
