And We Start The Cycle All Over Again
Nov. 16th, 2009 10:04 pmOtherwise known as Doc55 sending Marty back to September 1885 and closing out the Backie days. *soft sigh* Let's celebrate with a funny quote:
Doc: *sending Marty off, puts hand on shoulder* Well -- good luck, Marty. See you in the future.
Marty: *amused* You mean the past.
Doc: Precisely!
I forget if I used the matching quote from Part II for -- no, I don't think so, it would have been October 26th, maybe early October 27th, and I'm pretty sure I used Part I/Part III quotes for those days. *checks* Yeah. What the heck, let's send the movie off with a double quote:
Doc: *attempting to sort of comfort Marty after he realizes the almanac mess is basically all his fault* Well, that's all in the past.
Marty: You mean the future.
Doc: Whatever!
-TD: Perhaps we should invent new words for events that happened in our personal past but in future time periods, or vice-versa.-
-OD: No, I think that would just get even more confusing.-
Yeah, my head spins enough trying to keep track of things already.
Not much else to report -- typical Monday at work. Got a lot of "Ella Enchanted" read -- almost done. It's a good book. :) I also feel the need to expand upon my shopping trip the other day -- turns out there's a Newberry not too far from where I live. We visited when we got the fabric for my Halloween costume, and I saw this cool Victor doll there from Jun Planning.
Idiot me didn't buy it, and now it's gone. ;_;
-D: You actually passed up fandom-related merchandise?-
The problem was it was rather expensive, and Mom made a comment about Victor's face looking flat which made me wonder about the quality. (Of course, when I later look it up, Tim Burton asked them to do the dolls specifically because they did such a great job with the Nightmare Before Christmas ones. . . .) So yeah. Teach me to ignore that impulse again.
-VD2: To be fair, where on earth would you have put it?-
I dunno -- somewhere!
The trip wasn't a complete waste, though. As I said yesterday, I got two new CDs by a band I'd heard a couple of times on YouTube via music videos/fanmixes, The Birthday Massacre. I really like their sound. I also got the book of "Coraline," which is proving to be interesting. Though I keep comparing it to the movie, which is turning out to be rather different.
In writing news, the NaNo is continuing to go well:
34465 / 50000 words. 69% done!
We've finished up getting the main cast together -- now it's on to the one-shot fairy tales! We'll be starting with Girl Genius-ified "Puss In Boots."
-VD: Do you think you'll get through the entire thing before you hit 50,000 words? That one particular story, I mean.-
Just have to wait and see -- I do have just over 15,000 words left. Might make it to the beginning of the Narbonic "Beauty and the Beast."
Right now, though, I'm off to hit BTTF.com.
