The Things My Mind Comes Up With
Mar. 11th, 2010 03:54 pmOkay, so let me give you the full version of the wacky dream I woke up to this morning, as least as much as I can remember:
It started out as an Alice In Wonderland dream, featuring a blond Alice who'd returned to Wonderland after a long absence, all happy and smiles and waking along a pink-and-white checkerboard path. Suddenly, the head of the Queen of Hearts (sort of your generic evil-looking black-haired woman) appeared and started basically eating Wonderland and warping it to something more American McGee-style, forcing Alice to run for her life (although she was always facing the Queen -- Looking-Glass Land logic?). Somewhere in there I became the viewpoint Alice, which was weird.
Eventually the White Knight and the Cheshire Cat came up and helped save me/Alice -- turns out she'd disappear if I wasn't looking at her. We ended up in some place that was like the Skool library, and Cheshire and the White Knight were telling me I had to leave right away. So I packed up some Wonderland-related books I'd found, said my thank-yous and goodbyes, exited through a hole --
And found myself in another building, looking out at a crazy Queen of Hearts castle. Somehow I realized I was in an Alice In Wonderland theme park with a bunch of other people, including my Dad and -- of all people -- Kramer from Seinfeld in a straitjacket. I was going around looking at the castle (which always looked subtly different), then took out my camera (or my Mom's camera -- mine's pink, the one in my dream was blue like hers) and started taking pictures.
Then I looked to the side and nonchalantly noticed zombies.
Seriously, dream-me was completely unconcerned about the living dead besides her. Apparently this was some sort of event -- the people in charge randomly released zombies into the crowd. Dream Me DID tell everyone about the zombies, and there was some panic. Dream Me escaped by first climbing onto this little ledge that circled the room, then actually climbing onto some tall person's shoulders and riding him around. And I was still taking pictures as zombies lurched around and bit people! Anybody who got bit turned into a zombie -- poor Kramer was one of the victims.
I don't know if my dream timeskipped here or what, but suddenly the zombies vanished, along with all the normal people, except the guy I was riding on and my dad. Only the guy was now a zombie, and I had to keep my legs away from his mouth. Dad managed to rescue me, and we ran out of the building (never found out what the hell it was supposed to be, it looked like a cafeteria without the tables) and into the deserted streets. Apparently we'd come here by cruise ship, and so we made our way back to the dock where it was berthed. The dream ended shortly after the guy in charge of the dock was reluctant about letting us on (cause, you know, Zombie Apocalypse).
Yeah. Methinks I might need a break from either "American McGee's Alice" or "Pride & Prejudice & Zombies."
