crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (feeling sparky/creative)

So, since it's been rattling around in my mind, I figured I'd post up the quick and dirty synopsis of my How To Train Your Dragon/Shrek crossover.

It's a post-movie fic for HTTYD, but it's set during Shrek 2. The Dragonriders of Pern Berk are out for a friendly ride when they're caught in a ferocious storm far from home. They're forced to make a landing in an old abandoned castle. The Terrible Terror flying with them makes an interesting discovery as Hiccup does the headcount -- giant eggs in a stone nest. Fishlegs identifies them as the eggs of a particularly large dragon known as a Scarlet Rage. Moments later, they meet the mama dragon -- who, as you probably guessed, is Dragon from Shrek. The Riders and their Dragons quickly assure her that they mean her and her nest no harm, and they just need a warm place to stay the night. Dragon, now more comfortable around humans, and trusting the opinions of her brethren, lets them stay.

Turns out it's a good thing she did, as when Hiccup and the others wake the next morning, she's turned into a Pegasus. There's general bafflement over this (how are they to know about the love potion Donkey's swallowed?). Then Ruffnut, of all people, voices the question, "What's going to happen to the eggs?"

So the dragons and their riders stay a while, keeping the eggs warm and making sure all is well. They hear some decidedly-odd noises coming from inside the eggs, but don't think much on it until the evening, when the eggs hatch.

And the next part is best summed up in dialogue (it's Hiccup and Stoick talking, Stoick first):
"Half-donkey?"
"Yes. I swear to Odin, I swear to Thor, I swear to Frejya, I swear to the Serpent himself, those babies were HALF-DONKEY."
"So -- the dragons can breed with the livestock?"
"Apparently! It was weird. I mean, they were kind of cute in their own --

You cannot actually think this is a good idea."
"If we had fire-breathing sheep, we'd be the envy of every Viking tribe!"
"Oh GODS. . . ."

Yeah -- what do you think? Worth writing down? Or at least setting free on the interwebs so someone else will adopt it?

I think three things:

1) I should see "How to Train Your Dragon" if the opportunity presents itself.

2) It may be worth writing this up as a fic just to stay in shape, but pretty much all the story seems to be contained in what you have there. So it wouldn't be very long. Not that that, or the fic, would be a bad thing.

3) The world needs more Viking Mad Geneticists.

1) Yeah, you should. Especially if you can see it in 3-D. The story's tried and true, and the animation is wonderful. :)

2) Yeah, I'm thinking it would be a medium-size oneshot if I did write it all down. The trick would be trying to keep everyone in character -- I own Shrek, but I've only seen HTTYD once.

3) LOL, I know, right? I mean, we've already got the Gadgeteer Geniuses in Gobber and Hiccup. (Like Simon said, Hiccup kind of reminds me of a cross between Doc and Victor.)
