Firstly, I've had to get my roaring dragons off eBay -- Wal-Mart does not stock them in-stores or online anymore. Annoying, eh?
-TD: Very! Aren't they the exclusive dealer? You think they would anticipate customer demand.-
*shrug* I dunno. But I found some on eBay, so Growf and Errol should be arriving soon.
-VD2: Wait -- Growf and --
Oh, I didn't tell you? I got the Night Fury one too. Too cute to resist, honestly.
-OD: *Jules* We told you, Father. Yes, yes, I owe you a cookie. Which one's Growf and which one's -- Errol?-
The Terrible Terror's Growf, the Night Fury Errol. And he's named Errol after the swamp dragon in Guards! Guards!, one of my favorite Discworld books. :)
-VDM: *amused* Is that the one who shot the flame out his--
Yes, that's the amazing jet-propelled dragon. XD I don't think Night Fury Errol will be imitating him, though.
In related news, getting the toys has prompted me to actually start considering adding a Terrible Terror to the Inkwell crew. The image of Victor cuddling one is just too cute for me. Alice has a different opinion, and reminded me of a reason dragons might be a bad idea for two of the cast.
-RPD: *frowns at me* Yes, let's possibly traumatize two people in there -- one of whom is very skilled with a variety of weapons -- with something that can BREATHE FIRE.-
I promised her that if I did it, I wouldn't let it burn down the Inkwell!
-RPD: Even so, Vic!-
It's still only conceptual at this point. Alice and Lucy might have nothing to fear in the end.
Moving onto Corpse Bride stuff, I found this really cool video on YouTube: The Corpse Bride VFX reel
-VM: VFX?-
Visual Effects. It shows where a lot of the computer work came into making Corpse Bride. It's fascinating to see what was greenscreened in, what was computer-generated, what was plopped in later. . . . Of particular interest is Emily's veil. They said they fooled the people at PIXAR with a shot of her practical veil that they thought was computer generated -- turns out that goes both ways. There's so many scenes where I thought Emily's veil was real, and it wasn't!
-TTV: *frowns* Are there any shots of disembodied heads or the like?-
No, mostly wireframe models of birds and spiders for when they were stuck in with computers.
-TTV: Oh, good. I thought it might be like the test reel included on the DVD.-
That really freaks you out, huh?
-TTV: Tell me how you'd feel about seeing your disembodied head moving about.-
-D: A couple of us have seen OUR disembodied head -- it was a model made to display one of the props from the ride. Extremely -- unsettling. Though it was static.-
Oh yeah, I remember that. I think I remember seeing it on sale awhile back too.
-VD: *shudder* So do we.-
-TTV: *wince* At least I'm not on sale.-
No, I think you're part of a museum exhibit at the moment. One of you, anyway -- there WERE 14 Victors.
-TTV: That doesn't help.-
Sorry.
