crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
I remembered after posting my writing meme the other day that I'd finished my other prompt lists I grabbed off of [livejournal.com profile] 1sentence. So, I figured I'd show you two more of those. I previously posted Doc/Clara and Victor/Alice, now we have:

Marty/Jennifer:
Theme Set Epsilon
1. Motion – It seemed like every time he and Jennifer were finally going to get to kiss, something happened that sent him running off somewhere (or somewhen) again.

2. Cool – Jennifer thinks Marty tries a bit too hard to be cool sometimes.

3. Young – They may be young, but they know the love they’ve got is going to last – 30 years, at least.

4. Last – It was a lot later than he would have liked, but now, after everything that’s happened, all the craziness and separation – he and Jennifer finally get to share a kiss.

5. Wrong – Marty thought he’d have plenty of time to catch up with Jennifer after that tumultuous week in1955 – of course, he was wrong.

6. Gentle – Marty has wonderfully gentle hands, Jennifer thinks, even if they are a bit callused in spots from plucking guitar strings.

7. One – There was a whole vast space-time continuum of girls out there, but in the end, there was only one girl for him.

8. Thousand – “I could live a thousand years in another time period, and I’d still want to come back to you,” Marty told her, and Jennifer thinks it’s the sweetest thing he’s ever said to her.

9. King – Marty hoped to be the new king of rock and roll one day – and there was only one girl he could ever imagine being his queen.

10. Learn – Jennifer’s quite happy Marty’s learned his lesson about being called “chicken” – now, hopefully, they have a shot at a better future together.

11. Blur – Everything about her brief time travel experience was a blur to Jennifer, except for the part where she woke up to the feel of Marty’s lips on hers.

12. Wait – Having to wait a whole week without seeing her, wondering if he’d ever see her again, was plain old torture.

13. Change – Marty’s glad to see his family has changed, but even gladder to see that Jennifer hasn’t.

14. Command – Whenever she’s in his arms, Marty feels like telling time to stop for a little while (though it never works).

15. Hold – Jennifer was really happy to wake up in Marty’s arms – after that awful dream she’d had, she really needed a hug.

16. Need – Now more than ever, he needs her – needs her to remind him that there’s normality even in a world with time travel in it.

17. Vision – The future she saw then, of both of them unhappy in a marriage long past its prime, still haunts her sometimes – and makes her worry that, even with changing the time line, that’s still their fate.

18. Attention – It isn’t until he’s alone in his room that night that Marty realizes that, for all he knew at the time, the accident would have been caused by his going backwards – and Jennifer wasn’t wearing her seat belt.

19. Soul – Marty believes fully in the concept of “soulmates” – the way he met Jennifer just cemented it in his mind.

20. Picture – Her picture is almost always front and center in his wallet.

21. Fool – Jennifer could have easily avoided half the tardies she’s accumulated if she didn’t insist on helping Marty sneak in whenever he’s late.

22. Mad – Jennifer was rather upset at being left on the porch, but she forgave Marty and Doc in the end – after making them promise to NEVER do it again.

23. Child – It was kind of weird knowing that you were going to have two kids – at least – with your high school sweetheart, Marty had to admit.

24. Now – After traveling to the far-flung past and the fast-approaching future, Marty really cherishes spending some time with Jennifer in the here and now.

25. Shadow – Marty feels like a shadow of his former self after he breaks his hand – to the point where he started wondering if he was really good enough for Jennifer anymore.

26. Goodbye – If he’d known he was saying goodbye to her for a week that October day, he would have given her a proper kiss.

27. Hide – Hiding in the closet and bathroom provided Jennifer with a view of her and Marty’s future relationship that she wasn’t sure she liked.

28. Fortune – Marty wanted to be rich not only because it would benefit him, but because he wanted to make sure Jennifer would get everything she ever wanted.

29. Safe – When he came back and found her still safe and sound on the porch, Marty let out a breath he didn’t even know he was holding.

30. Ghost – Jennifer’s sort of like a ghost, haunting his mind, during that whole mess with the time machine.

31. Book – After being forced to leave Jennifer behind in that hellhole reality, Marty really wishes he’d never even looked twice at that almanac.

32. Eye – Jennifer thinks that Marty has gorgeous eyes – such a wonderful clear blue.

33. Never – One of the worst parts about Hell Valley (in Marty’s opinion) was that, if he was in a boarding school in Switzerland, he’d probably never met her.

34. Sing – He writes and sings songs for her, because it’s one of the things he does best, and she deserves nothing less.

35. Sudden – They crashed into each other in the cafeteria, looked into each others’ eyes – and fell in love, right then and there.

36. Stop – When they finally get to kiss after all that’s happened, it feels like time just stops for a little while.

37. Time – No matter the time period he’s in, one of his main concerns is getting back to her.

38. Wash – Marty was ready to make up for lost time at the lake right away; Jennifer, however, quickly informed him that, after all that time traveling, he really needed a shower first.

39. Torn – Marty was really, really torn when Doc informed him that they’d be leaving immediately – on the one hand, he really was eager to go back and stop this reality from ever coming into being, but on the other, how the hell could he leave Jennifer here?

40. History – He was seeing history being made back in 1885 – but when he saw Doc with Clara, all Marty could really think about was how much he missed Jennifer.

41. Power – Marty knew he was playing with fire when he went in on the deal with Needles, but he thought it might be his only chance to get some respect again – from his peers, from his kids, from the woman he loved.

42. Bother – All he wanted was one lousy kiss from his girlfriend – why the hell did people have to keep interrupting?

43. God – Marty occasionally wondered if God had been playing with him that weekend, always letting him come just to the point where he and Jennifer could be together again, then throwing another problem his way.

44. Wall – Ever since that damn accident, Jennifer felt like there had been a wall between them, and she wasn’t sure how – or even if – they could break it down.

45. Naked – He’d been half-hoping that weekend at the lake would lead to “their first time” – he supposes he can wait for that, but he still wishes Doc had waited just a day before whisking him off again.

46. Drive – Marty’s ecstatic to have the truck he’s wanted for ages, but Jennifer kind of misses holding hands as they skateboard together down the road.

47. Harm – Marty leaves her there on the porch, mostly because he’s not sure what else to do, but he knows that if she comes to harm, he won’t be able to forgive Doc – or himself.

48. Precious – He’d thought that flyer with her note and phone number was precious even before it became the key to sending him back to the future.

49. Hunger – Even with all her worries about the future, and her and Marty’s relationship, Jennifer couldn’t help but get just a little distracted by the pizza (she really should have eaten a bigger breakfast).

50. Believe – Marty was really worried about Jennifer not believing him when he told her about the time machine (despite all the evidence all around them) – the last person he ever wanted to think he was crazy was her.

The King of Hearts/The Queen of Hearts
Theme Set Beta
1. Walking – She was just walking in the Palace gardens when she met him – the lowly Knave of Spades at the time, tending the rosebushes.

2. Waltz – He’s an incredibly graceful dancer, and the Queen counts herself lucky to have him as her partner.

3. Wishes – Whatever her wishes, the King will do whatever he can to see them done.

4. Wonder – Wonderland just seems so much more – wondrous with him around.

5. Worry – She worries at first that her mother and father will disapprove, and that she’ll never see the Knave again.

6. Whimsy – They climb trees together, make silly faces at each other, play croquet as partners or as opponents – the world is their playground.

7. Waste/Wasteland – Let Wonderland become a wasteland, a place of fear and darkness, the Queen decided – Alice had taken what was most precious from her, and now she’d take what was most precious from Alice.

8. Whiskey and Rum – The Knave of Hearts only ever shared his supply of alcohol with them once – after the mess he had to clean up the day afterward, he vowed never again.

9. War – Despite her violent temper, the Queen of Hearts never thought she’d have the energy to wage constant war like her friend the Red Queen – until the King died, that is.

10. Weddings – The day of their marriage was the sweetest one of either of their lives.

11. Birthday – Although celebrating unbirthdays is the norm in Wonderland, it makes the Queen feel rather special to find the King likes to honor the day of her birth too.

12. Blessing – When her father gave his blessing to their romance, the Princess of Hearts and the Knave of Spades felt like a huge weight had been lifted off them.

13. Bias – It was tradition for the Heart family to marry one of the royals from the Diamonds – for the Princess of Hearts to fall in with a Spade was rather scandalous.

14. Burning – He didn’t regret saving her – not when the ceiling crashed down and trapped him, not when the flames were licking at his skin, not even when the pain became too much to bear.

15. Breathing – She didn’t understand it – how could she still be breathing when her king was dead?

16. Breaking – Being forced to leave him there, to die in the fire – her heart shattered in that moment.

17. Belief – Wonderland runs on believing in the impossible – although the Queen doesn’t think it very funny when people say that’s how a relationship between a Heart and a Spade worked out.

18. Balloon – The day after their first meeting, she practically floated around the castle (much to the confusion and amusement of her siblings and peers).

19. Balcony – They stand together, arm in arm, on the balcony as the coronation is completed, now the new King and Queen of Hearts.

20. Bane – It had never bothered him before, but after meeting the young princess, being a Spade suddenly seemed like a terrible burden.

21. Quiet – It was, weirdly enough, the quiet moments she liked best – just her and him, living as any other married couple.

22. Quirks – He was surprised to find she hated the taste of mushrooms; she was similarly shocked to discover he wouldn’t eat mock turtle soup.

23. Question – It takes him three tries to finally ask her that all-important question: “Will you marry me?”

24. Quarrel – The Queen is infamous for her violent temper – so why is it they barely ever fight?

25. Quitting – Only once in her campaign of terror did she ever think about quitting, about just letting Alice kill her – it was the day she realized that, for all her newfound power, she still couldn’t bring her husband back.

26. Jump – She knew all the servants were loyal enough to jump off a building for them, but the Knave of Spades was the first to make her want to do the same for him.

27. Jester – One of the things she liked best about the Knave of Spades was that he always knew how to make her laugh.

28. Jousting – It was when the Knave told her that he’d slay the Jabberwock in her name if she wished that she knew her feelings for him were reciprocated.

29. Jewel – All of Wonderland was beautiful, but the King considered his Queen the crown jewel of it all.

30. Just – She’s prone to ordering beheadings when upset, he’s always willing to pardon anyone who asks – together, they almost make a just ruler.

31. Smirk – The way she smirks when she’s being silly or sarcastic makes her all the more beautiful in his eyes.

32. Sorrow – Some days, the sorrow drowned out her anger, leaving her to sob quietly in the hidden chambers, far from anyone who could see.

33. Stupidity – It frustrated both the King and Queen that some of their subjects thought the King stupid just because he’d been a Spade.

34. Serenade – The Knave considered singing her a serenade under her balcony once; he rejected the idea because he was afraid waking her in that manner might lead to him being clobbered by something off her night stand.

35. Sarcasm – Both King and Queen were very skilled in the art of sarcasm – they practically made a game out of one-upping each other with it.

36. Sordid – Deep down, the Queen knows her lost husband would not approve of her campaign of revenge – it doesn’t stop her.

37. Soliloquy – Before she met him, she was sure that talking to herself was the only way to get a decent conversation around the castle.

38. Sojourn – He’d thought at first that being the Princess of Hearts’s consort would be a temporary position – why would she stay with a Spade when she had her pick of Diamonds?

39. Share – The Queen of Hearts was always on the selfish side, but she wanted to share everything she had, everything she was, with the King.

40. Solitary – The day he died, the Queen vowed that she would never love again.

41. Nowhere – Without the King around, Wonderland didn’t feel like home – in fact, it didn’t feel like anything.

42. Neutral – The King tried to stay neutral in most conflicts, simply because he neither wanted to upset his subjects nor – especially – his wife.

43. Nuance – He has a knack for reading all the subtleties of her expressions; that’s how he knows she never really wants people executed for minor offenses.

44. Near – It was funny; he’d been content to spend his life alone, tending the roses, but now all he wanted was to be near her.

45. Natural – Very rarely, the Queen wishes she had a more natural form again; she doesn’t think he’d like the one she’s taken now very much.

46. Horizon – Watching the sun sink under the horizon, his arm around her – that was always the perfect end to any day.

47. Valiant – The King may have come from humble origins, but to the Queen, he was always her valiant knight.

48. Virtuous – The King knew he wasn’t the most virtuous of beings, but he tried to be the best man he could for his wife.

49. Victory – He’d returned to her at last, and though so much had changed – that was enough.

50. Defeat – In a weird way, the Queen almost welcomed Alice killing her – because it meant that, perhaps, she had a chance to see him again.

This actually provides a slight bit of backstory for my Alice-verse -- I don't remember when I came up with the idea of the King of Hearts formerly being the Knave of Spades, but I've grown to quite like it. Spades are technically at the bottom of the heap in the books, working as the gardeners and general men-of-all-work (Hearts are royalty, Diamonds courtiers, Clubs soldiers). I thought the contrast suited the couple well. Plus, I think it helps explain why Spades are the second-toughest card suit in the game -- the Queen promoted them in honor of her dead husband.

Enjoy! I've got more web to surf.
