Sims and Powers
Sep. 12th, 2010 10:53 pmBit of a lazy Sunday, due to it being gloomy out. I did get myself an ice cream, though, which was nice. And I played Sims -- since I was in a wedding mood lately, Emma Heterobach got married! She and Holden had a Roof-Raiser party. Now I just have to send them off on a vacation for their honeymoon. Incidentally, Emma's now Knowledge/Family, while Holden is Knowledge/Fortune. I also got some experience in this new "networking" thing -- one of the wedding guests asked to give Holden's phone number to Tristan London (lol), as a potential new friend, while another, after a good couple of conversations, improved his reputation. Me likey.
-RPD: Heh. Glad you're having fun.-
I am. :D Though I wish my videos looked a little better. I didn't realize they'd come out so choppy-looking. I'll have to experiment with the settings a bit, perhaps.
Anyway, on to the second part of my post. You see, recently on YouTube, a girl's holding a sort of video collaboration thingy about giving various animated characters superpowers, and weaving a story where most of them are on the run from the government and looking for help from their own kind. I learned of this after seeing a video starring Victor, natch. This, plus my new obsession with Sim Witches (well, RENEWED obsession -- anyone who knew me back in the Sims 1 days would tell you I was into Makin' Magic like NOTHING else) got me to thinking about powers, and the ones we like to give certain types of characters. So -- interactivity time! I give you a list of my three main favorite characters:
Doc Brown, Back To The Future trilogy
Victor Van Dort, Corpse Bride
Alice Liddell, "American McGee's Alice"
I challenge you to give them supernatural powers. I want to see what people come up with. (And I want to see if anyone else comes up with the idea I had of the WORST power you could give poor Alice.) I'll be discussing the results either tomorrow or Tuesday -- please give me something to work with so I don't have to make up my own lists.

Date: 2010-09-13 04:44 am (UTC)For sheer irony, I would have to give Victor some sort of Wolverine-level healing/immortality power.
And Alice? Shape-shifting into a cat. It's not the sort of thing you normally associate with her, but can be (kinda) justified from the books, specifically the last couple pages of 'Through the Looking Glass'. My guess for her worst power, especially since you've specified the American McGee version, would be pyrokinesis. :-P

Date: 2010-09-13 04:54 am (UTC)Hmm. I keep coming back to control of time for Doc (pausing, rewinding, forwarding at will) and Necromancy for Victor. xD
Now, for a GOOD one for Alice... That's hard. Communication and control of animals I could see (ahahaha.), or ability to teleport between mirrors or control glass. Perhaps the ability to grow or shrink at will? Another cool one might be something to do with playing with people's heads and creating illusions, since Wonderland is so fantastical, trippy, and based on wordplay at most.

*snrrrk* Everyone likes to torture Victor.
Huh, not one I'd actually thought of for her, but good point. And yup, you guessed it. :p

The "teleport between mirrors" one was an idea I had for her at one point. And yeah, when you think about it, she has a surprisingly wide range of powers. The illusions would definitely be something to play around with.
