Linkage For The 12th

November 12th! Junction point of the entire space-time continuum! (Or is it all just an amazing coincidence?) The day where all the shit goes down! Marty's both finalizing plans to get his parents together and trying to get a future almanac away from Biff. Doc's both getting the DeLorean ready for time travel and -- well, sort of the same thing back at the billboard. Or, at least, he would have if he'd gotten that short fixed. And of course there's the lightning strike at the clock tower, the only image seen in all three films. :) I actually watched Part I today, using my newest discs. Nice picture quality and sound. I finally discovered that, after Doc says "This damn thing doesn't work at all," he's not randomly swearing, he's saying "Six months!" I also realized that they could avoided a lot of the problems of the climax if Marty had taken the time Doc was running up the stairs inside the clock tower to, you know, move the branch.
-M: . . . I seriously cannot believe I didn't think of that until now.-
It's okay, I didn't think of it until today either. You admittedly had a lot on your mind.

Ugh, I have a mini mental meltdown each time I see the clocktower scene, because it irks me they missed something so obvious. I have made up my mind that the reason they didn't think to, you know, move the damned branch is because they're guys and guys are more prone to rushing into a situation before analyzing it.

If the characters were women, that branch would have been moved first. Enough said.

Rushing into with analyzing I think describes Doc best -- he does that sometimes. With Marty, I'd say his brain was more on the fact that he was trying to get tell Doc about his future death. That would distract anyone.
