Day of Getting Stuff and FLAIL
Mar. 25th, 2011 11:02 pmOn the subject of getting stuff:
-->Obtain Maskerade, the next book in the Discworld series that I need to read
-->Obtain the 25th Anniversary BTTF minimate set
-->Get a
eurekasims and
revison_doc update up
-->Get that still-unprompted Drabbles88 up
-->Reinstall "American McGee's Alice"
Yes, I finally found a copy of Maskerade at Barnes & Noble today. I also got Feet of Clay and Hogfather while I was there. I"m set for a while now.
-D: I should say.-
We also hit Newbury Comics, which was having a flash sale -- buy one used DVD, get a second for a buck. So we got used copies of Hot Fuzz and Transformers. Watched the former over supper -- funny movie, even if I have to cover my eyes during one of the deaths. :D I also got some new minimates, using up the last of my gift cards in the process. Worth it, though:

It's an Excalibur box set. Now, I know a little about Excalibur, but not much -- only that it's one of the many X-Men-related teams and was founded by a Captain Briton. The whole reason I was interested was because, as you can see, it includes a Nightcrawler minimate! As he's one of my favorite X-Men characters, I had to get it.

Our favorite fuzzy blue elf, with what I assume to be a "BAMF" cloud (aka a visual representation of his teleport power). Nice looking, huh? I have him on the shelf BAMFing into help Storm.

Of the other three mates, the only one I know anything about is the guy in red: He's "the Juggernaut, bitch!" The girl and costumed guy are Meggan and Captain Briton respectively -- they appear to be a husband and wife team responsible for Excalibur's existence. More power to you, guys, we can always use another hero.
So yes, today was a good day for getting stuff. If not for being productive, but I AM poking at that drabbles88. Gotta be some way to link it to a prompt.
-M: Speaking of BTTF, we got my original-flavor girlfriend coming back for Citizen Brown!-
Oh yeah! Telltale did a little blog post on the subject of getting Claudia Wells to do voicework. Interesting redesign of Jennifer, no?
-J: Apparently Doc-Dystopian!Me likes her hair dye.-
They said they were going for a bit of Joan Jett.
-M2: It kind of weirds me out, honestly. But like Jennifer said, it's part of Doc Dystopia, which is even WEIRDER. . . .-
-VD2: How do you think we feel?!-
The episode finally arrives next week -- looking forward to it.
Speaking of video games, I'm sure you're wondering about the FLAIL. Allow me to elaborate:
I was visiting the official American McGee Forums, and noticed a thread in the "Madness Returns" section that was collecting all the media currently out about the game. This includes some scans from the yet-to-be-publicly-released artbook. I got curious, nosed around, and came across this page:

-VJ: What's so special about the blue and black dress? I mean, looks good on her--
It's not that. It's that small picture up top. I know the text is hard to read, so allow me to transcribe it here (additional emphasis mine):
Sun Guoliang: We were pursuing the stop-motion style, so I adapted some Corpse Bride inspiration in this design. I know she looks too weak, but I think the personality is good.
-TTV: O.O -.- O.O D-d-did he -- did he just --
YES. YOUR MOVIE WAS DIRECTLY MENTIONED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE "AMERICAN MCGEE'S ALICE" SEQUEL. DO YOU SEE WHY I FLAIL?!
-M: Holy shit, that's -- that's --
-VD: Just as weird as Johnny Depp auditioning for your role?-
-M: Hell yes!-
FANDOMS ARE COOOOLLLIDING
-DW: You seemed perfectly happy about that with Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland.-
That wasn't AMA, and the BTTF connection was more tenuous. This is just FREAKY.
-TTV: . . .It's a n-nice purple dress, though.-
Yeah, I suppose. I may have to steal it for crossover purposes. Since I basically have a seal of approval for such things. *totally weirded out*
So yeah, busy Friday. And I still have Lucy's
charloft post to do. Let me get on that.

Date: 2011-03-26 04:37 am (UTC)Also, apropos of nothing except my going back to watch a Game walk-through with the Episode III trailer in it, have you ever noticed that 1931!Edna has a physical similarity to Clara? Curious, isn't it?

Date: 2011-03-26 05:00 am (UTC)Not really, but I guess she does if you think about it. I think I'd need to see Clara in the game's style to really be sure. (There's certainly some similarities in hair style, I'll give you that much.)
