Alice Progress: Starting Chapter 2 - Tundraful, "Alice: Madness Returns" (Current Dress: Checkmate; Using: Octogrinder)

Indeed -- in addition to switching my dress, I've also switched one of my weapons! I figure the underwater chapter ought to have the underwater-themed pepper grinder. I think I'll be using the Knightmare (the DLC Hobby Horse) for Queensland, and the Catnip Cannon whenever I throw on the Cheshire Dress.

Anyway, I mentioned glitches in the subject, so glitches I shall give you:

  • First off, there's a huge fight in the part where you're trying to reach the March Hare -- Bolterfly Hives, Insidious Ruins, a Menacing Ruin, and an Eyepot. I'm not entirely sure WHAT happened, but something weird happened to both the Menacing Ruin and the Eyepot. For some reason, the Eyepot refused to respond whenever I hit it with the Teapot Cannon. As for the Menacing Ruin -- well, you're supposed to start off killing that by deflecting fireballs back at it and breaking off two arms that serve as a protective shield. I discovered I couldn't do that -- because the fireballs were suddenly passing THROUGH me. For a minute, I thought I'd gotten some sort of invincible enemy glitch (I've seen this happen on YouTube -- somebody tried to kill a Dollgirl, and she kept going even after her heart had been destroyed) and I'd have to go to the main menu and try an earlier save. Fortunately, altering my tactics worked to kill them: the Eyepot responded to the Pepper Grinder, so I peppered him to death, and I discovered it was completely possible to beat the Menacing Ruin to death with my Hobby Horse without breaking off its protective arms. Still, very weird.

  • Secondly, after I hit the Billingsgate section at the very start of Chapter 2 (London), I popped out to the main menu after hitting a save point after Alice enters the Mangled Mermaid from the back, so I could change her dress to Checkmate before she landed in Tundraful. Turns out, the game wasn't sure what to make of that, so I ended up getting a couple of glitches. First up -- when Alice enters the Mermaid, she passes by the dead body of Long Tim, whom Jack Splatter has killed to get to Alice's Nanny. When I went back into the game and happened to look out the open door behind Alice -- Long Tim was gone. But the Vorpal Cleaver used to kill him was still there! XD (The Vorpal Cleaver is one of the DLC weapons, and it's an Easter Egg in that bit.)

  • Thirdly, the other thing that happened in my London adventure was the music cutting out while I was in the Mermaid. A lively piano tune is supposed to play while you're in there, but for some reason it never started back up once I returned to the game. I actually don't mind this, though, because it means I got to hear a background conversation I never noticed before. Turns out, at the bar, there's one guy bullying another into doing something. And I mean bullying -- the guy, Bill, threatens to beat up his "friend" if he doesn't do it (not that I know what "it" is).

So yeah, Alice In Glitchland. We'll see what happens tomorrow! Right now, I'm going to see if Tumblr has taken care of business (it appears to have gone down).
