Helping Dad With Windows 8
Jul. 28th, 2013 11:35 pmBecause it does not make it easy to figure out how to print shit. Both he and I are used to applications with a simple "print" button -- especially him, because he's been using Windows XP for a while now. But this new computer insists on you going to the side "charm bar" and going to "Devices" to find your printer, and then jumping through some more hoops there. Dad was not happy it took us that long to figure it out -- and then only after I managed to Google the damn answer. He wanted a new computer so he could be up to date for once and not have to worry about upgrading for a while, but it appears the learning curve for all of us is going to be very steep. *is quite happy with her Windows 7 laptop, thanks very much*
In other news, although it looked like it was about to rain much of the day, rain never actually materialized. I even got in a walk. Nice to get some fresh air again, after the rain-soaked days of June and the never-ending humidity of July. I do like summer, but sometimes all that gets to be a little much. On the writing side, I rewrote the history of Mallow Hallow that'll be on the NPC page, and did some more on the eventual wedding of Forgotten Vows Victor and his Alice in his fanfic-verse. Which got knocked off-track for a bit as I fought to come up with a good wedding dress design for Alice. I wanted something that was a bit different from her Secundus-counterpart's dress (especially after seeing Britt's choice for her Alice -- preeetty), but honestly, coming up with a gown for her can be harder than it looks. I settled on a design eventually, but it's far from the final, I'm guessing. Need to futz with the idea some more, I think. . . And yes, I know I should be working on Chapter 13. My brain just isn't in that place at the moment. Can you blame me?
Also -- Mom wanted something nicer for dessert tonight, so Dad came home with chocolate mousse cake and whipped cream. Om nom nom. More reasons for me to take more walks, but so worth it.
