And I got to see it in IMAX, which is the only way you can see those movies for the first time, I swear. The flying scenes were top-notch, and the sense of actually moving through the world was incredible. :D The story held up well enough for me -- it was great to see all these characters again, now five years older (if not always five years wiser). I do wish Astrid had gotten a bit more to do, but that early scene with her and Hiccup bonding was fantastic -- and funny. XD Shipping love right there.

Spoilers to follow, though I'll keep them brief:

Hiccup's mom is Valka, not Vahallarama. While I admit that Valka seems to fit the character we see better, Vahallarama was a pretty amusing name and I wish they'd kept it for SOMEBODY.

I totally called the death of Stoick while watching. There was no way Hiccup was going to be allowed to keep his dad after he found his mother again. Though I'm glad the guy got to be reunited with his wife for at least a little while.

Toothless's upgrade confuses me in an amused way. I'm not even talking about his Godzilla powers at the end (that I accept as a ramped-up version of his plasma bolt), I'm talking about the new spines/fins on his back. Which Hiccup's mother made pop out by pressing a certain spot on his neck. WTF? XD It's a nice addition to his design, but how the hell does that even work?

Bewilderbeasts are amazing but terrifying. I was kind of hoping Hiccup would manage to win over the one Drogo was using, though. Especially now that I've read the TV Tropes page and discovered that apparently Drogo found this thing has a hatchling and basically tortured it into obeying him. :(

Baby dragons are adorable, and Toothless even more so. Seriously, keep your eye on him throughout the movie -- if he's in the background, he'll be do something funny. :P

Really good day out honestly, though I got nervous briefly when it rained shortly before I was going to leave. Fortunately, it was only a brief shower, and the rest of the day was more sunny than cloudy. Though it's definitely starting to cloud up now -- hopefully if there's any thunderstorms they'll happen overnight. I gotta walk to and from the bus for the rest of the week, after all.

But yeah, nice to get out and about on my own terms again. Had Buncha-Crunch and a cherry Icee at the theater, and I even got into Dave & Buster's for a couple of quick games. They've rearranged again, and Fruit Ninja's been upgraded with some of the powerups and such. Less blades, though -- I can't use my butterfly knife anymore. :( Ah well. Got some tickets, then tried the music stand. Was able to find three songs I wanted, so yay. :) And it was nice to walk to and from the mall, and the house. Ahhh, fresh air.

Unfortunately, the bad thing about movie days is now I'm badly behind on everything. So, allow me to please go take care of all my tags and suchlike! And hopefully get in at least a drabble's worth of writing. . .thinking of something "Pern Crash" related, since I've got dragons on the brain. . .

I read your cut tag in Chester A. Bum's voice, lol. I read on Wikipedia that a third movie was confirmed for release in June 2016.

So, in DV news...the Wraith came with the name Kelvin. I kept it.

Brimstone won a Gold and I threw Manfred into Air (Kite...Air...seemed fitting).

The Bronze still has a day before it hatches and the Dodo has a little over 13 hours so I'll have to come back tonight.

I'm very close to level 37. So much so that I'll probably get there sometime today.

I think that's it. DC: 170,492,851; G: 432.

Edit: Dodo came with name Stoney but I named him Gogo after Gogo Dodo from Tiny Toon Adventures.
