Poked at Hatter's Chapter Some More
Jul. 10th, 2014 07:36 pmI was a) feeling inspired that way (again, like I said, I feel it's one of the weaker chapters in the original) and b) distracted by DragonVale's new event, so it was convenient to do something that I'd already looked over a couple of times before. I do think I've made the beginning better, so yay for that.
And yes, DragonVale does have a new event -- the Firefly Celebration! It's kind of a summer-themed Magic Egg Hunt, in which you collect fireflies to gain rewards off a new special island. Unlike the Magic Egg Hunt, you get fireflies for a lot more things now -- I hatched a Cave dragon today (came with the name Schwartz, which I kept because it reminds me pleasantly of A Christmas Story) and built a new Giant Dark habitat for that and my Wraith -- got 25 fireflies for the habitat, 20 for hatching the dragon. Noice. Thanks to that, some food-gathering, some money-gathering, some dragon breeding, and 250 fireflies handed out for going through the tutorial stuff, I've already gotten the first prize -- the Dawnbreak Edifice! There's also a Duskfall Edifice, Dawn and Dusk dragons (which are Moon/Sun dragons), a Celestial habitat (which holds both Moon and Sun dragons -- Solaris can finally emerge! :D), and the Twilight Tower, which can make the sky go from day to night. The park looks beautiful with the new dusk sky, and I LOVE the loading screen. This adorable little witch with a jar of fireflies, watching more fireflies flit through the sky with a quartet of dragons. . .it's too cute, seriously. :D I look forward to earning my share of the rewards!
And in Hearthstone, one win today against a Malfurion -- it looked like he was going to have an early advantage, but then I managed to turn it around and got a concede out of him. :) I should also mention that my loss yesterday was to a GOLDEN Gul'dan, meaning that player has won 500 games with that character. I know there's always an element of luck, but I really think I didn't have a chance. Ah well -- it's really more about fun for me than anything else.
All right, I have replies to get to -- later, all!

Date: 2014-07-11 12:30 pm (UTC)I got the first reward, too. I hope getting all the rewards here is easier than in the Magic Egg Hunt. I'd at least love to get as far as the new dragons - the Dusk looks very cool. At least they don't specifically state "find and buy" this time around.
I was thinking that since breeding dragons can get you fireflies, then the easiest way to get those quickly is to breed some of the shorter dragons like Cactus and such. Since I have two Fire dragons and they only take five minutes, I may put them together as soon as I get the chance. I'm also toying with the idea of getting another Plant dragon since they also have extremely short incubation and hatching times. I'll just keep going until I don't get anymore fireflies a couple times in a row. That's what I'm doing with the treats; I'm making Dragon Snaps until the game stops giving them out. Someone on Facebook figures it's 20 for party hats, 40 for treats, 40 for cash and 70 for breeding and someone else got 10 fireflies for clearing before it stopped giving them out. A third someone also thinks that spending gems gets you more, which kind of sucks if it's true. I need my gems; I don't want to spend them.
I have a few hours before I can try that at any rate. I've got an Ash and Meadow being made right now.

Edit: I read something on the sandbox and sacrificed 3 of my gems to try it out...Sun and Moon dragons can now breed directly. I've no idea what I'm getting (probably something I already have) but I figured I'd give a shot while I have Full Nursery Syndrome. Also, Victory was re-released but I think we're both okay there. :)

Date: 2014-07-11 10:00 pm (UTC)I've been reading up on it on the Wiki -- apparently all the prizes this time around ARE available without spending real cash. :) You're correct in your estimations -- 20 for party hats, 40 for treats and cash, 10 for clearing obstacles. I heard 40 for breeding, not 70, but maybe that's wrong. . .and there's another max of 40 for spending gems. That shouldn't be necessary to get all the prizes -- but hun, if you're gonna do any upgrading, I'd do it while this festival is on. I'm gonna be building some more Giant habitats anyway myself. . .AND they are apparently doing Double Firefly days, so I'll probably aim to do so on one of those. Might as well max my earnings, so to speak! :D
Yeah, I heard that -- probably has to do with the new dragons and habitat. Wouldn't be surprised if Dawn and Dusk are breedable after the event's over. . . And yes, I saw! They hinted they'd be putting it back out for the World Cup finals.
