Yeah, yeah, you know I liked it. Hell, part of the reason I'm up so late tonight is that I insisted on visiting the TV Tropes page for a quick skim of the available tropes. It's a fun book with Moist and Adora in fine form -- and lots of Vimes too! :D He and Moist actually team up for a while as part of the plot, and it is pretty much as awesome as you might think. (Also, it's mentioned that Moist has a house now on Scoone Avenue, where Vimes lives. My new headcanon is that they're next-door neighbors. XD) Fights on top of moving trains and continuity nods all over the place -- Terry Pratchett is definitely trying to make these books grand! (Though the sad part of me notes that the reason may be because each subsequent book may in fact be his last. . .)
One thing I found slightly vexing, though, is that there's a subplot about Moist more or less befriending a golem horse, whom he names Flash. I kept expecting said horse to show up in the climax, but -- well, after he gets named, he basically doesn't appear again. Darn it, I wanted Flash to race Iron Girder or something. Adora Belle even delivered the perfect set-up line for it! *wags finger at Terry Pratchett* I love you, but even I have to say, missed opportunity there, boyo.
Okay, gotta fix this "late" situation and hit the sheets. Not much to report beyond it being a pretty typical day at work (not even a delay -- well, technically there was one, but it was only an hour and the thing for it went out so late that almost nobody actually SAW it and so we all came to work regular time) and it actually getting above freezing, hooray! Though tomorrow afternoon apparently sees the icky weather return, boooo. :( Still holding out hope that March will be better than February, though. Come on, upcoming spring!
