Who wants to hear the story of how I woke up early this morning sick to my stomach, and ended up having to take a day off work?

Fortunately, it doesn't appear that I have a stomach bug -- rather, it seems I fell victim to some bad milk. And possibly some bad mustard at work (we have a fridge, it has stuff in it, but it doesn't always get cleaned out when it should). I actually attempted to go into work, but the bus ride just stirred up my stomach again, and I had to leave pretty much right after I arrived. One of my coworkers was nice enough to drive me home (which I appreciate deeply; I don't think I could have taken the bus ride back), and I ended up spending most of the day lying in bed, either sleeping or playing on my iPad. It wasn't until around four that I actually started feeling hungry, and I made sure to keep it simple -- some smoothie, a mug of chicken broth, and some toast. My stomach is still a touch sour, but I think I'll be all right by tomorrow.

Of course, this means I haven't had the most productive day in the world, but I wasn't going to force myself into anything -- I threw up once this morning, and that was quite enough, thank you. I'm just wandering around the web reading stuff that interests me and such -- all RPing is going to have to wait until tomorrow. Fortunately there's not too much to catch up on, it looks like. Whew.

So yeah, been wiped out today. Everyone, make sure to smell your milk before you drink it. And check those expiration dates!

Ick. I'm lucky in that usually I'll smell or taste if something's the least bit off before I eat it, and in the rare cases I haven't I'll usually just throw up once and then feel fine. (This includes my only run-in with a bout of shrimp-based food poisoning, which, from what I've heard, can be a medical emergency for other people.)

That said, I do sometimes get queasy around my time of the month, and it's a good reason to keep gingersnaps on hand. As long as they have some real ginger in them, they'll help soothe an upset stomach.

Still, the best thing when you're sick is rest, so make sure to get it. :) And I hope you feel better soon.
