Plus finally finishing up a rewatch of The Truman Show over a workout -- been very movie today. The Truman Show, of course, is always good (question of the day: How do you think things would have turned out if Christof had been willing to throw out his script and let Truman get together with Sylvia?), but how was Linkara's movie?

Well, I enjoyed it, though it was different than what I was expecting. I thought it was going to tie in with the mystery of whatever was in Linkara's soul that apparently frightened the King of Worms (an eldritch abomination, though a weak one) to death. But nope, the plot is more Linkara having a "why is my life so weird" birthday crisis while being called upon to save some astronauts who have encountered trouble near Jupiter. Said trouble was in fact a reborn Mechakara -- because that guy always comes back. Linkara of course beats him again, with the help of some of his reviewer friends (Nash, Lupa, Marzgirl, Angry Joe, and Cinema Snob) and a good chunk of his usual cast (Linksano stayed behind to combine Boffo with a jukebox -- don't ask). And along the way he reaffirmed to himself why he lives the life he lives -- because, even with all the weirdness, he loves what he does. (Well, the reviewing part, though I'm sure "saving the world" has its perks too, namely owning his own spaceship.) Some specific thoughts:

-->The opening credits are great, done in the style of an AT4W comic book. His title card artist is amazing, seriously.

-->The movie takes itself pretty seriously, with lots of dark moments, but there's a number of really funny moments scattered within. Most of them dealing with Nash's WTF reactions to everything. (I don't think Nash was much involved in the anniversary specials, which explains why he's the go-to WTF guy.)

-->Harvey has a brief subplot with Nash where he starts to have the same questions about his life that Linkara does. Fortunately Nash manages to snap him out of it (especially important because Harvey brought up his dead son, and you know he's not in a good place when that happens), and it looks like they're pretty good friends by the end.

-->WE FINALLY LEARN 90'S KID'S REAL FIRST NAME, AND IT'S EVELYN OF ALL THINGS. O.o We also learn he's a hell of a lot deeper than you might think -- the fact that he's a tech genius possibly on par with Linksano has been brought up before on the show itself, but it shines here since Linksano is doing the clown/jukebox thing. He also basically explains why he is the way he is to Lupa (after first annoying the shit out of her with his Bloodgunn worship, then baffling her with his tech prowess) -- yeah, he knows the 90s weren't perfect, but he loves them because they were FUN. He just wants there to be more fun in the world. *hugs him* Thanks for reminding me why you're one of my favorite characters on the show, buddy.

-->Mechakara spends the time right before the final fight PEELING OFF THE SKIN HE STOLE FROM HIS LINKARA (long-in-the-past spoiler: Mechakara is actually an android version of Pollo from another universe who killed his Linkara during a machine rebellion). This is not shown in any graphic detail, but GOD the squick D: It does, however, finally show us what he actually looks like -- a cheap Terminator rip-off. XD I love you, Linkara, but still, it is.

-->Linkara squeeing about how much he loves comics and wishing he could live forever just to review all of them -- adorable, seriously. It was a great way to pull him back from the depressed, almost-death-seeker brink he was at during most of the movie.

-->Linkara powers up his magic gun with the help of all his friends -- badass. And the cherry on the top? He actually PROPER SWEARS -- with a "fuck," no less. One of his traits on the show is that he doesn't generally go beyond "hell" or "damn" to show he can pull off reviews without needing nasty swears, so it's pretty amazing when he lets one fly.

All in all, I think a good investment for my Indiegogo dollars. :)

The rest of the day has been largely futzing around or vacuuming -- though I AM proud to say I stuck to my schedule and got the last bit of Chapter 23 edited! (In such a way that Forgotten may kill me, but -- you see, I decided to go with actually showing the Dollmaker putting the doll body on Alice, which included, um, partially stripping her. . .I swear to God nothing happened to her except being imprisoned in the doll.) Running behind on RP stuff, though, as usual. Ah well, that's life. I'll just head over and do what I can now. Night all!

I haven't watched it yet; I was waiting for all the parts to be up so I can watch the whole thing. Since you donated did you get your name in the credits?
