Rapidly Getting Chilly Again
Jan. 11th, 2016 10:52 pmAnd we're expecting either rain or snow on Wednesday (or possibly even tomorrow night, yeesh), so that'll be fun! I'm a little worried it'll turn into an "event" -- here's hoping it doesn't get mucky enough to make it a chore to get around! Though it probably will. . .
In the "nice things" column, not only did I get a fair whack done on "Remembering You," I also managed to get in a workout! Have decided that the best time might be after dinner, not before -- this way I'm not delaying the food with working out and showering, and it seems to fit into my schedule better anyway. I need to get back into the habit of regular exercise, and with walking kind of cut off from me thanks to it being bloody freezing out, the elliptical is my best shot.
Work was pretty quiet -- I spent most of it updating people's addresses, then looking up newbies for the database related to CAP. We got a bit more returned mail, but it was just a small stack, so no panic attacks. We're moving on, moving up, all that good stuff. Can't let it get us down too long.
Nothing much else to say. I'm still working on the Pyrite and waiting for an Eridanian in DragonVale, just did tumblr queues, and I'm going to answer one final PM before hitting the sheets. Tonight is definitely a "warm up the bed with the blowdryer" night. . .though thanks to me being PMSy I'm probably going to end up feeling really overheated and sleeping under inadequate covers sometime tonight. Meh.
Anyway -- night all, sleep tight!

Date: 2016-01-12 06:58 pm (UTC)*sigh* Oh well.
Decided to rename my Neoteric "Aladdin" because he does that flippy thing with the ball that Al does with the apple in the Disney movie (though the dragon uses his tail while the person uses his arm and elbow).
And I keep forgetting to mention this. So I watch a TV show called "The Librarians", which is a spin-off series to The Librarian film series. It was one of those (or three of those as the case may be) movies that my mom would put on on like a Saturday or Sunday when there was nothing else on and we kind of got hooked on them. The movies are about a nerdy guy (Flynn Carsen) who thinks he's gotten a job as a librarian at the NY library, but instead gets mixed up in supernatural stuff. The library is actually an extra-dimensional place that holds all sorts of artifacts from history like Excalibur (nicknamed "Cal" in the TV series), Peter Pan's flute (who flies around and likes to provide a soundtrack to people having a conversation) the Arc of the Covenant, Pandora's Box, amongst other things.
In the series things got Very Bad, so Flynn has to protect three people who all Refused the Call at the time (one guy is an Australian thief (Ezekiel Jones) who threw away his invitation, the second guy is a genius from Oklahoma (Jacob Stone) who turned it and two scholarships to work with his dad on an oil rig and as a side-note he hides his genius from his family because he thinks they Won't Understand, and the girl (Cassandra Cillian) was in the hospital because she has a brain tumor the size of a grape that gives her synesthesia) and by the end of the pilot episode are now Librarians in Training. The series just ended its second season and has already been picked up for a third.
So I told you that story to tell you this story...the season finale had to do with time travel. The library, as it turns out, has a "time machine room". And guess which two time machines have cameos? These are piss-poor screenshots but it's what I could get with my phone and ShowBox's pause button.
I assume "OUTATIME" is copyrighted, lol.
The show's executive producers are fans of both Doctor Who and Back to the Future. Each little cameo had a Suspiciously Similar Song to accompany it (the TARDIS had the "oo-ee-oo" and the DeLorean had what could've been the first few notes from "The Power of Love" but it's hard to tell).
Funny-ish tid-bit: Mom and I were fans of the movies so of course we started watching the show from its debut. Ed catches like episode three or something in the middle and after it's over wants to watch the previous episodes, and then he wants to watch the movies, lol.

Date: 2016-01-13 04:29 am (UTC)Heh, that's actually pretty clever. They're nice-looking dragons, aren't they? So shiny. . . Mine's Clark, after Dick Clark of Rockin' New Year's Eve.
*nods* Oh, so kind of like "Warehouse 13" and -- I think there was another show? I've never actually WATCHED any of them, so I can't be certain. But it sounds pretty cool -- all these kinds of show have a neat premise, and it sounds like they've got a good cast of characters.
And LOL, so I see! OUTATIME probably IS copyrighted -- or at least costs enough that they didn't want to blow the budget on it. But that's cool that they'd add those little nods (and JUSTNTIME is a great choice for alt-plate).
*giggles* Well, that figures. At least it's something you can all share together. :)
