Dentist Appointment Tomorrow

So it's a semi-early night (the appointment's at 10:30, so I'm going to bed around 1 to get up at about 9), which means lots of tumblr queuing. Fortunately I actually had a moment to draft my replies this time around, so I'm in good shape there, hoorah. Especially since Forgotten's replies have kind of exploded -- they actually have a tendency to do that on Fridays. Guess I'm not the only one catching up.
Moving on from that, it's birthday season -- first, Happy Birthday, George McFly! No, I'm not forgetting this year -- especially not with the 6th BTTF comic freshly out and about. Second, Happy Birthday Simon! Yeah, I went really simple with the party post this year -- I'm basically out of ideas for what they can give each other, so I'm probably going to just go with "hey they're here! [funny comment of some sort] Say hi!" from now on. I've been doing these things for years -- I think I'm allowed to finally get a little lazy.
Moving on from that, kind of a rough day at work -- I kept running into "wtf happened here" situations (mostly involving people being put in twice or people being confused with relatives). Very glad I have the weekend, even if I do have to have my teeth cleaned. I'm planning on following it up with a trip to the local bookstore to use my gift certificate to it -- need more Pratchett soon! I'm seriously thinking of taking a personal day for sanity reasons in a week or two -- April is one of two months that has no holidays (either state or religious) meaning a shortened week. June is the other, and that's when I'm hoping to finally take an official vacation (since you need lead-up time to request it and it's never seemed to be a good time before now). We'll see how things go, but yeah -- plan so far.
Moving on from that, favorite April Fools jokes of the day:
-->Lenovo sending me an e-mail about "Cat Tops" -- basically, computers for cats
-->devART introducing what is basically a pedometer for drawing (it measures your "strokes"), complete with "buy it now" button that runs away from your cursor and makes faces
-->tumblr doing an election between three lizards and what I believe is a salamander, complete with a special "election" version of the website with a tickertape at the bottom and fake news broadcasts. Candidate "Mop" ended up winning.
And now I need to move on to finishing my various replies -- night all!

Date: 2016-04-03 04:51 pm (UTC)As for the filling, I can wait for the sensitivity to go away (the filling material is not that far from the nerves, hence the sensitivity) or have a root canal. I opted to wait, naturally. :/

Date: 2016-04-04 03:28 am (UTC)My dental problems mostly stem from the fact that as a kid I could not have dairy at all (both lactose intolerance and a milk allergy I've since thankfully grown out of) and so my body absorbed calcium from my teeth leaving them weaker than the average person's. And I don't know if I've ever let it be known that my teeth are crooked due to a long thumb-sucking habit I had for more years than I'd like to admit so food gets caught easily in my teeth. For a long time I didn't have dental insurance so it was YEARS (from being on my parents' insurance to getting married and finally getting it through the Marine Corps.) before I could get regular cleanings and now the damage is done.
I also dump any dentist that suggests I get braces even after I told them I don't want them. When I was a kid I was told my crooked teeth give me character and I've stood by that all my life.

Date: 2016-04-05 03:11 am (UTC)Cripes, that's fun. . .glad you grew out of that, but yeah, I can see how that would do a number on your chompers. And yeah, I can understand not being able to afford the dentist -- there was a patch where I couldn't go for regular cleanings/check-ups either because we didn't have proper insurance. Fortunately now my employer covers that. I really count myself lucky that the worst I've had are a few chips in the front (once tried to open a TV antenna with my teeth -- don't do that), occasional slight inflammation, and a wisdom tooth that's taking its sweet time actually showing itself.
Heh, yeah -- I'm used to my chips too. Dunno if I'd even bother getting them capped at this point.
