Pouring Saturday
Jun. 11th, 2016 11:31 pmAs in "freaking hell, it poured buckets today!" The forecast originally called for just partly cloudy, but shortly after noon it started sprinkling, and then -- yeah. Day was pretty much a washout. Good thing I didn't have anywhere to be!
Even with the lousy weather, it was a pretty good day overall. Spent most of it watching videos:
-->Helloween and Rufert's co-op of Resident Evil 5, starring a woman wearing a dishrag, one-hit-kill bugs, sloppers, the world's most overlong boss battle, and the world's stupidest elevator section. If it weren't for these guys being hilarious I wouldn't look twice at this game. :P Helloween pulled off a fantastic accidental dodge though, so that was nice.
-->Linkara's Superman vs The Amazing Spider-Man, starring poorly-conceived 70s science, Lex Luthor at easily his most insane cackly, Doc Ock giving Lex a piggy-back ride as they escape from jail, MJ being catty at Lois Lane, and Spider-Man and Superman having a surprisingly good epic duel (helped by Spidey getting boosted with red sun radiation -- don't ask). Linkara enjoyed it, and I did too. It has some bad moments, but it looks like a fun book overall. Poor guy, though -- apparently the rest of the month will be spent on his "favorite" Teen Titans story, Graduation Day. *pats him*
-->Nostalgia Critic's Top 11 Conspiracy Theories about Disney Princesses, starring Belle living near the Notre Dame cathedral, some neat commentary on Lilo and Stitch's names (apparently Lilo has a meaning of "lost" in Hawaiian), the return of the castle dong in The Little Mermaid and the good old "Frozen's monarchs died on the way to see the "coronation" of Rapunzel from Tangled (I think Doug meant Rapunzel and Eugene's wedding) and their boat is part of the shipwreck graveyard in The Little Mermaid" theory that made the rounds on tumblr for a while. (Strangely enough, Doug apparently didn't see the version where Anna and Elsa are related to Rapunzel, as it was also hot stuff to talk about how the kings looked related to each other's queens.) Some good stuff there (I actually quite liked the first about Belle and Notre Dame), but others felt like a reach, and one -- the reveal of Snow's age (she's supposed to be 14) isn't so much a conspiracy theory as "Hey Disney really didn't think through how creepy making Snow that young is." Still, good chunk of fluff.
-->LGR's review of the latest Sims 4 game pack, Dine Out. The pack is basically "oh whoops we forgot to put restaurants into Get To Work, here it is for a separate $20," but LGR quite liked it despite that. I admit, it looks good and would be a nice addition to GTW, but I'm still reluctant to give EA any more of my cash for this game after some of the stupidity surrounding it in the past.
Speaking of Sims 4, I played a round today with Marty and Jennifer. They're being very cute now that I've gotten them proper in love -- constantly flirting and giving each other little cheek kisses. I went ahead and had Marty ask Jennifer to be his official girlfriend -- they took a selfie in honor of the moment. XD And they're already having whims to get engaged/married -- easy, you two! Let me get Victor and Alice settled first! XD But yeah, it was a nice day with those two.
Only other thing of real note is my starting on Chapter 3 of "In The Land of the Dead" -- and once again, significant changes right off the bat. I'm completely altering that opening conversation about how it's been a year with the family -- it's a little more downbeat now, and touches on Lizzie's lingering issues. I'm still hoping to sneak her a reference to her trying a clay pipe and not being impressed, though. :P
And that's it! Doing the RP thing on tumblr right at the moment, so I'd better get back to that. Night all!
