Work was all about doing things that needed to get done (including helping my coworker call some people about their pledges); and over lunch I hashed out at least a few of the things I'll need for my new tumblr RP blog. Slowly but surely coming together, and that's nice. :)

Back home, I ended up doing some more Christmas fics today, as I had the inspiration for them. Also power-read through the first two installments of my friend [personal profile] martyfan's Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations series. Hey, I felt I should give it a whirl, and I needed inspiration for another Christmas fic. . .which I think I got. ;) Did eat up a lot of time (both from reading and then from my usual 'gotta pace around while I think of all the things' reaction), but my queue is set for tomorrow on tumblr, and I've only got a couple of messages to answer before I hit the sheets.

So yeah, not a particularly interesting day, I suppose, but nice for what it was. Needed some time like this, I think. So yeah, let me finish up my current things, and then it's sleepytime. Night!

"Eat up a lot of time" is right, whether you're reading it or writing it, heh. Thanks for the shout-out, and for giving it a try! :)

With one exception (where I had take three days off to figure out an alternate plot for the current part I'm working on, because the existence of empaths ruins EVERYTHING), I've written at least two thousand words a day since I started. It's like my brain decided "Hey, we haven't done NaNo in seven years, let's do two in a row for no reason."

*tries to direct it your way*

It's fun for the most part. :D I'm struggling on the current chapter because it's boring but I can't cut it because it's crucial to the plot. Sigh. I might end up just skipping to the next chapter and coming back after I'm done with that one. I've actually done that a couple of times, writing chapters out of order or realizing that one I wrote later would fit a lot better earlier and then rearranging shit. It's driving me nuts though because OCD means things go in order properly dammit.

Yeah I've got some alternate versions of chapters I started and then realized "Oh fuck that doesn't work" and then I saved them for later just in case I can use bits later, and surprisingly I have already.

Some of my chapter rearrangement came because in the current story, there's been an incident where everyone is separated, so there are four rotating points of view that are supposed to be happening at the same time (Kirk and Chekov, Sulu and Uhura, McCoy and Spock, and Scotty with special guest). I wrote a bit for Uhura and Sulu at night and then went "Oh shit, for everyone else it's only like two hours after the incident and it isn't even night yet" so I had to invent an entirely new chapter and kick that one down the line four more chapters later. And then I did the same damn thing with McCoy and Spock, because I didn't learn my lesson the first time.

The trickiest bit about rearranging the chapters is that I'm only writing a chapter or two ahead, so I have something to post the next day if I brainfart and can't write for some reason, so I have to reeeally be confident I'm not going to have to go back and stick a chapter in a part I already wrote. XD
