Somewhat Icky Sunday
Oct. 29th, 2017 11:27 pmWeather has definitely taken a turn for the worse -- most of the day was just kinda grey and drizzly, but right now we're dealing with a full-on storm. The worst is supposed to be over by six AM, fortunately, but it's going to be hella windy and rainy overnight. Hopefully we won't get another power blink or anything!
My day today was mostly spent watching things -- here's the highlight reel:
-->Helloween's last Secret of Mana set -- the kids have saved the world! At the cost of one of them being separated from his new friends because the means to save the world severed his plane of reality from the other two's. Sad. I actually liked the penultimate boss better than the final one -- more interesting design and moveset. And I found the ending kind of abrupt. But it was nice to see Hells playing a game he truly loves, so yeah. :)
-->Helloween's latest Darkwood set -- poor guy managed to explode himself trying to open up a wall in a ruined house. XD Fortunately, this was offset by him having an amazingly quiet night and thus getting through without even having to spend one bit of ammo. Game remains fairly creepy but fascinating -- I'm curious to see how it all plays out in the end.
-->Helloween's latest The Evil Within 2 set -- many laughs were had regarding Hells's desire to kill a truck full of fairly fast monsters, and his incompetence when it came to actually killing them. XD Good times, good times. . .he got them in the end, happily, but it took some doing. The story remains fairly incomprehensible, and it's almost impossible to relate to the characters because everyone seems to be some form of dick. But hey, it's good for a laugh, and it balances out the genuine fear of Darkwood nicely. And it is still better than its predecessor -- Helloween finds less to complain about, anyway.
-->The final two episodes of Halloween Wars! Pretty good stuff this season, I've gotta say. We had some teams with some actual talent, and it was great to see them do their thing. The final episode in particular featured some cool set pieces. :) Also, minor spoiler on the final guest judge -- it's Fiona Dourif, who was apparently in the "Chucky" movies, but whom I know from Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency as Bart the holistic assassin! Weird to see her all cleaned up like a normal human. . .was really hoping she'd do the Bart voice, but no such like. Kinda awesome to have both her and Robert Patrick (aka the T-1000) as guest judges this year, though. Normally they're people we don't recognize at all because we've never actually seen what they star in.
I also finally got back to writing on "Fixing You" (got past my roadblock by slightly rewriting the lead-up to it -- whew!), Mom and I did some driving practice (up to the local Target and back, with me doing some more backing up into spaces practice), I got my Valice Multiverse queue done (pretty big one too), and I even managed to fit in some BioShock (I'm past the big reveal from Andrew Ryan, and into the "Fontaine's actively fucking with you" part of the game). So, all in all, a very productive Sunday, I guess.
Okay, time to hit the sheets in preparation for work tomorrow. Fingers crossed the house doesn't blow away in this storm! Night all!
