Happy November 12th!
Nov. 12th, 2017 10:04 pmA date of cosmic significance! Or a bunch of coincidences, take your pick. :p Even if I'm less of a Backie than I was, I'm still not letting THIS date pass by without a 10:04 post. I also wore one of my BTTF shirts (under a hoodie, but still) and just listened to the Pogo & Skye remix song Time Machine. Gotta do a little something for my beloved fandom. :) I guess writing some more on "Secundus 2" counts as well, even if we haven't seen Doc and Marty yet -- the whole fic revolves around going to Hill Valley to attend Marty's wedding, after all. Into Chapter 2 now -- gotta set up something that'll pay off in the climax, then we're actually going to reach Hill Valley! w00!
In video-gaming news, Origin is finally working again, yes! A restart finally got it to do its thing. Buuuut I still didn't play Sims 4, largely because I though it prudent to look up what the latest patch/Expansion Pack did to mods, and -- yeaaaah, saw the phrase "Petmaggedon" used. Not that surprised, adding even just dogs and cats to the game is a huge change to the code, but as one of the mods I use is a large-scale script mod that's more or less crucial to my enjoyment of the game, I've decided to delay a bit until the next full update for it comes out. (There's already a hotfix, but I'd like a proper 'everything that can possibly be fixed is fixed' version.) On the plus side, thanks to my determination to finally make Alice a vampire, I'm in a good place to have the Van Dorts show off Sims 4 Cats & Dogs as well. If I can decide WHICH cat and dog to give them. . .
My day wasn't entirely free of Sims 4 content, though -- SIX EPISODES of The Sim Supply's new "Wags to Riches" LP. Watching that (along with a couple of Kubz Scouts 60 Seconds videos) took up pretty much my entire afternoon. Good stuff, though, and a nice introduction to Brindle Bay (which looks BEAUTIFUL) and cats and dogs themselves in the new expansion. Even as it contains more amusing James fail (not seeing the option to actually ADOPT a puppy when he brings it over for evaluation, forgetting to pay his bills, making a vet practice that doesn't have any lights or wallpaper or flooring because he ran out of money). XD Also watched Helloween's new Castlevania Saturday entry, Super Castlevania IV! SNES classic that he did pretty well on right until fish men started squirting him into insta-death water. His edits suggest he took a LONG time to get the pattern to get past them down. But he did, and he's already defeated a few bosses. Good video game funtimes, and I'm looking forward to seeing more. :)
Not a heck of a lot more to report on -- rather lazy day today. Tomorrow I'll be doing more driving, working on "Fixing You," playing more BioShock, and watching more of Detective Budget in The Evil Within 2. Stuff to look forward to! But right now I gotta get going on the rest of my night, soo -- later all! :)

Date: 2017-11-13 05:50 pm (UTC)As much as the mechanics of 4 frustrate me (since it's, yanno, not 2 and 2 isn't compatible with Windows 10 so I can't put it on Shiny without headaches) I do like how customizable the pets are now, much more so than they were in 2. I have the closest Sim version of Fluffy the Cat than I've had and it'd be closer if I had better pictures of her, lol. Now if custom neighborhoods were a thing I'd make Sim!AL and Sim!The Guys on Alnilam like I have in 2.
Speaking of Sims 4 frustrations, is it me or do Sims take forever to accomplish tasks when you follow them to work? Like, you give them a task, and they stand around contemplating their navels for a bit (which in Sims time is, like, an hour) and then they finally go to the task? I feel like they've missed out on promotions because they take so damn long to do the requirements to do a good job. I've been making them stay late all the time to get more done. LOL I'm so impatient. XD

Date: 2017-11-14 04:07 am (UTC)*pats* Yeah, from what I've seen, pets are arguably more customizable than Sims! Since they get the color wheel and everything for their fur. . . I'm already thinking I might take advantage of the skeleton fur pattern to make a "skeletal" Scraps in the game. XD I'm glad Fluffy turned out so well. And yes, I wouldn't mind custom neighborhoods coming back. Or even just more customization with the ones we currently have. I'm jealous that San Myshuno and Brindle Bay can have "themed" neighborhoods in their worlds, but I can't do the same for Newcrest. *pout*
Sometimes! I don't think mine do it every time, but I have noticed delays before. This happens at home too. Also occasionally with them forgetting an assigned task, or obsessing over some self-chosen task. (Mine are constantly trying to get glasses of water.) But yes, I get that feel. Sometimes it feels like a battle to get them up the career ladder! (And then, sometimes, you feel like you've done everything, but the game doesn't consider it 'good enough' to promote them. . . Wheatley's having that problem, poor guy.) This game is frustrating, sometimes.
