Not Particularly Productive Thursday
Nov. 16th, 2017 11:31 pmAt least at work -- mostly because I was trying to figure out the exceptions to my initial update import file. There was a lot of potential duplicates to scan through, and a lot of my time was spent trying to find ways to do so without having to resort to one-by-one examinations, which -- given there's over 2,000 exceptions? Way too much time. I did eventually figure out a way to pull most of the ones that matched on both name and address, which makes life a little easier. And got rid of a few obvious mismatches too. I'm trying not to go too in-depth, simply because I don't have the time, but I'd like to avoid as many potential duplicates as possible. If only parishes would clean up their darn lists better. . .
Speaking of work, Mom's got a new job! Home care for an elderly lady through an agency. She starts next week. We're hoping it goes well -- a little extra money in our pockets would be much appreciated.
On the writing front, did some more on "Secundus 2." Finished setting up the Grasshopper Tea thing, and the gang is now on the train to Hill Valley! :) Looking forward to the next bit on Sunday -- gonna feature a big Victor & Doc & Marty hug. :D I also posted the Newborn chapter of "Imagine Me and You" on AO3 for Forgotten Vows Friday. I've been super in the mood for fluffy Valice stuff lately, so putting up sweet stuff like that feels really good. :)
Other than that, been mainly catching up on tumblr, watching a quick 60 Seconds video on YouTube, and getting queues done. My life is not particularly exciting. So yeah, time for me to hit the sack. Got Friday, then the weekend! With a crafty twist, I believe. . .night all!

Date: 2017-11-18 03:07 am (UTC)It is in Excel, but that's not quite what I mean by "duplicates." What's happened is that I've imported a metric fuckton of names into our database program because they're supposed to be new people, but some were rejected because they might already be in there (the system matched the name, and sometimes the address). But you can't ASSUME they're the same people, so I've got to compare the one list of rejected potential duplicates and the other list of the people they are potential duplicates with. The ones who have both same name and same address are more likely to be actual duplicates, but some of the others. . .it's a process.
