Mall Trip Wednesday
Aug. 15th, 2018 10:47 pmPretty standard mall trip, all things considered:
-->Got dropped off by my parents outside the mall just after ten -- I proceeded to hike down the sidewalk to CVS to get a new mini-notebook for my Sims 4 playtime notes (these are important -- I don't always remember the context for my pictures, or certain details from my playsessions, particularly if I'm ahead a few from when I'm posting). Turns out I got a deal -- mini-notebooks were buy one, get one half-off, AND my preferred brand of gum was having a 50% sale too. So yay, two notebooks and a new package of gum for cheap!
-->Went over to Newbury's and took a browse -- looks like they've changed locations yet AGAIN. Now they're across from Hot Topic. I wandered around, but nothing really caught my eye as a must-have. Their store seems to be largely Funko POP figures these days anyway, and I already have the two I really want (Doc and Marty, plus the DeLorean).
-->Stopped in at Hot Topic as well, since why not, and DID find something that appealed to me -- a pair of "friendship" necklaces with a steampunk insects theme! :D The receipt said they were bees, but one of them looks rather more like a butterfly to me. But hey, that's two more necklaces for me to choose from when I go out/go to work!
-->Got lunch at the Charley's in the food court -- small chicken philly sandwich with fries (since that was a meal deal) and a strawberry lemonade. I really like the latter -- it even has bits of real fruit in it! Very tasty.
-->Up to Dave & Busters, where I made the rounds on the (half-price) games after recharging my card. Still am no good at getting to the end of the Batman drive-and-shoot game, but got some major tickets from the Rampage game. And I won a game of Mario Kart, and hit all the notes in a Guitar Hero song (though, full disclosure, I always play on beginner). Unfortunately, it looks like they've replaced the Ghostbusters game with a Halo one, and one of my other favorite games, "Seawolf" (where you're a submarine sinking ships) has vanished as well. Ah well. . .still have enough of my favorites for me to enjoy. And I'm building up a HUGE stockpile of tickets -- I really gotta find something in their store that I want to spend them on. My headphones are getting awfully worn out, and they have a few in there. . .
-->Off to Pinkberry for maybe-not-quite-as-bad-for-me-as-actual-ice-cream treat XD I've already written this week off when it comes to indulging on desserts (pretty much all the places we're going to have ice cream available, plus there were the homemade sundaes on, er, Sunday), but I figured I could at least go somewhere that featured a calorie count so I could keep it semi-reasonable. (And I DID make a point to walk around a lot of the mall to burn some fat beforehand.) Got a cookies-and-cream froyo with mini generic M&Ms and chocolate crispies, om nom.
And then Mom came to pick me up and back home I went, having accomplished everything I wanted to. :) Felt good to head up to D&B's again, and do a bit of solo running around. I am glad that we switched the Kimball trip to Friday, though -- I could use a plain old lazing around day after two days out and about.
Afternoon was pretty solid too:
-->I have finished off the BioShock 2: Minerva's Den DLC! :D Reed Wahl is a fucking bastard who set FOUR Alpha series on me and a bunch of turrets and security bots! >( Fortunately, after dying a few times, I came up with a decent battle strategy, which was traps everywhere, hack all the things, and lots and lots of bees. Seriously, BEST plasmid. Though Gravity Well does have its charms. . .anyway, the ending was incredibly touching, even if I already knew the twist. I seriously wanted to give all the main characters a hug. And I'm really glad it was a happy ending, or at least a bittersweet one that was more sweet than bitter. Charles Milton Porter and his Thinker deserved it. :) Good stuff. I'm planning on spending the rest of my gaming time this weekend (however much there is) on Sims 4, to catch up on the time lost furnishing the Van Dort house and waiting for non-blurry screenshots, but next weekend -- we start Infinite! I'm looking forward to it. :) Even as I'm realizing my potential Valice BioShock AU might need some serious tweaking. . .
-->I also finished off edits on Chapter 4 of "Fixing You" -- tweaked things here and there, but it ended up not gaining much in length. Plan to get a jumpstart on Chapter 5 tomorrow as well as get Chapter 3 up for general consumption online. Another reason to be glad tomorrow's a "just stay at home" day -- I'll need the time!
-->Speaking of putting up fanfic, the next bit of "The Technicolor Phase" is up: Bumby Purple. This one is -- well. I've mentioned this before, I'm sure, but it's worth saying again -- it's Lizzie waking up in the Land of the Dead after Bumby's had his way with her and set the fire. It's not very explicit -- it's not even that long -- but if you were uncomfortable with the mentions of what he did in "In the Land of the Dead," there's a good chance you'll be uncomfortable here too. It's not too plot-important -- I'd argue that more starts when we get into the "rewriting Corpse Bride" stuff -- so if you need to, you can skip it.
-->Watched a few fun videos:
1) a "Fun With Shorts" that detailed a rather dull Maine barbecue by a theater company
2) a list of features that Simmers tend to forget about (such as Sims having stats, or being able to filter things by color/pack in CAS and Build/Buy)
3) The Sim Supply attempting to make a giant hedge maze to see how long a Sim would take to get around it and breaking his game in the process because The Sims 4 has an upper hedge limit, it seems (and then he broke it more by trying to make the lot full of one-by-one rooms, and then spawned a bunch of Sims in to run the glitchy maze because go big or go home XD)
4) another gamer making a family of clones in The Sims 3 and trying to put them through challenges like a hedge maze (figures) and a swimming maze to see who survived and reached the all-important gnome (one Sim did; pretty much all the others and everyone else he moved into the house ended up swimming themselves to death -- not because they couldn't navigate the pool, but because they just loved swimming so much)
5) and a few Corpse Bride videos on stuff like "things you may not know about the movies" (as usual, I knew pretty much all of them from my own obsessive fangirling), the backstory of Lord Barkis (apparently Burton said at one point Barkis is 41? I mean, I can believe it), and the theory that Emily is an Everglot (pointing out how you can find some plausible evidence for it -- particularly when it's not the semi-popular "Emily and Victoria were sisters" variation).
Gonna see if I can fit in some Max Power before I go to bed too -- only three episodes to go! All pet-related -- he's trained out all the misbehaviors he needs to -- now he just has to feel the love and play with a few ghosts. Fortunately James can't really kill any of the pets to achieve that last -- pets can only die of old age. Though force-aging them up. . .nah, he'll probably think it quicker to visit the local pet cemetery.
And that's about it for today. Gonna answer anything in my inbox, and then just hang out for a while. Night all!

Date: 2018-08-16 10:49 am (UTC)I'll admit...Lizzie meeting Bumby as a skeleton rather than just a rotting corpse has a certain appeal, though without her looking like herself I suppose he wouldn't recognize her. Maybe if there was a way to keep her eyes as the last things that go, muahaha.

Date: 2018-08-17 03:24 am (UTC)LOL -- yeah, I don't think he'd be able to connect the animate pile of bones before him with the woman he "loved." At least until she spoke to him. . .but Lizzie would certainly get a kick out of appearing so monstrous to him. She wants him to be afraid of her for a change. (Though as it's currently written, there is no confrontation, thanks to a bunch of certain events going differently than they did in the Forgotten Vows Verse. . .maybe an idea to keep in mind for putting more Alice stuff into the verse, though.)

Date: 2018-08-17 03:25 am (UTC). . .On the other hand, Chapter 4 does contain a creepy sex nightmare, so, uh, be warned.
