Almost Another Disaster Internet Night
Oct. 23rd, 2018 11:24 pmAs, right after supper, I was preparing to put on some music to write to -- only to discover the internet was out AGAIN. Fortunately, this outage was much briefer than yesterday's, though no less annoying. Makes me wonder if it's not the provider, but rather our router/modem thing that's having the problems. According to Mom, it was doing this before she and Dad left on their day trip to the Cape too (antiquing, though they didn't get anything). Ugh. I do not need this sort of stress when I'm trying to get my writing done and catch up on some videos!
I was able to get both done once the connection calmed down, happily. I have officially started Chapter 9 of "Fixing You!" Edited the "Alice finally shuts the Jabberwock up once and for all" bit -- nice to finally put that to rest. And I got to watch that Vampyr set I was denied last night! It was -- mostly Helloween going up against characters just a little too high-level for him and dying a lot. And then dying some more because the enemies respawned and he came back with basically no blood to fuel his powers. He bitched about this a bit during the set -- apparently, if you're trying to be a decent vampire and not bite people outside of combat-chomping (which doesn't count, possibly because it's self-defense), you are going to hit a NASTY difficulty spike at one point. But if you DO start nomming people willy-nilly, you end up seriously OVERLEVELED and the game becomes a cakewalk. Methinks this game, while interesting, could have benefited from a bit more balancing. And maybe fewer depressing conversations, though those really set the mood, I have to say.
I also watched The Sim Supply's Get Together house build -- a crappy little starter trailer in the new world, Del Sol Valley, using a smattering of new items and the terrain tools to balance it atop a swampy chasm. XD It came together really nicely, and the pure excitement in his voice while taking about the pack has actually got me fairly excited for it. I really don't know how much of the "Fame" system I'll be using (I only have one Sim, Marty, that I have any real plans for currently), but I'm looking forward to the new items and suchlike. And apparently, according to SimsVIP, there's all sorts of new goodies coming with the related patch -- not just the terrain tools and new career, but also the option to register your Sim as "self-employed," in a sort of custom career option! I'm looking forward to seeing how THAT works. And apparently there's another new thing coming too, but the Gurus will be revealing that on 11/6 during a livestream. So we'll just have to wait and see.
Rest of the evening's been mainly about getting some queuing done on my tumblrs -- all set up for tomorrow for both days, yay. And now it's time to empty out the inbox and hit the sheets. One week to go til Halloween! Still keeping my fingers crossed for decent weather then. . . Night all!
