Gloomy, Rainy Saturday
Oct. 27th, 2018 11:31 pmThough it never really became a proper nor'easter, happily -- it rained like hell all day, sure, but the wind never got nasty. I'll take just a lot of rain over a storm any day. At any rate, I got myself up in time to meet the roof guy (though he ended up being late -- went to the wrong address) -- he looked at the roof, did some calculations, and gave us a quote. Turned out to be the highest we've gotten yet. @.@ Dad says this is because the guy is selling his company by coming around personally, being buddy-buddy, and hyping up their warranties and how they do everything exactly as the manufacturer insists, which I can believe. We're going to call the other two companies who gave us quotes and ask about their warranties, and decide once we have some more information.
After that, it was largely typical Saturday stuff. Lazed around the house, read some TV Tropes, did my room cleaning, edited another part of "The Technicolor Phase." FINALLY up to the bit where Victor and Victoria meet Alice! Between this and the next chapter to go up this week, "Bonejangles Brown" -- about TIME these two fandoms intersected, eh? Now I just have to set up the final foursome poly situation. . . Also put up the latest Scene from Secundus: tango, which ended up actually being about Alice getting Victor to relax while practicing a waltz. Though, admittedly, he's probably a little too nervous and clumsy at the moment to attempt an actual tango. :p Maybe in the future!
I also played some BioShock Infinite -- Booker and Elizabeth are in Finktown, the awful shantytown/sweatshop that Fink houses his workers in. The descent into the place was delightfully reminiscent of descending into Rapture, actually. Though Fink's a little more like Frank Fontaine than Andrew Ryan. . . Also, apparently he's expecting us. This is worrying, as Elizabeth pointed out. And we found out that Elizabeth may be a Comstock, but it's only on her father's side. . .the Lady Comstock never had anything to do with her and demanded she not be raised under their roof. Cripes, Elizabeth's face when she read that in her mother's diary. . .she needs all the hugs, this girl. I left it at them looking for the gunsmith that the Vox Populi have sent Booker to contact -- though I may turn around and walk out immediately the next time I play to do some more looting and find a cipher for a mini sidequest. :p I just needed an autosave! This is why games should allow players to save where they want. . .
And, of course, I watched some videos -- three from Call Me Kevin (another dip into the Deadly Premonition well for him -- he has a LOT of trouble with the driving sections, poor guy. He also stuck Emily into the devil costume for shits and giggles XD And two videos about Plague, Inc, which is trying to kill the entire population of earth via super-disease. His first two attempts ended in the disease being eradicated by a cure; the third successfully killed everyone infected, but didin't infect everyone. And then in the second video he tried a challenge written entirely in Chinese and successfully destroyed the world XD Which he followed up with VIRAL AD CAMPAIGNS and the Jim Pickens cult) and two from The Sim Supply (what appears to be the current end of the "Bread To Riches" series (which was originally done as one big stream) -- Willet has sold all her $40 bread slices and earned the purchase of an outhouse! And one where he SHAVES HIS BEARD for charity -- he looks so weird without it, but I'm all for raising money for good causes, so I'll get used to it). So that was fun. Still have plenty for tomorrow (including the 10th Anniversary episode of AT4W!), but I'll also have more free time then, sooo. . .
Right now, though, I'm trying to answer comments, do the RP thing, set up my queue on VictorLuvsAlice for next week (which is now all THREE-parters because of Valice Shipping Week), and get things sorted on the Valice Shipping Week blog as well. So I'd better get moving on all that! Night all!
