Rather Quiet Friday
Nov. 9th, 2018 11:26 pmThough the ride in -- cripes. I heard on the radio that accidents kept happening on the highway, but I don't know what was going on on Mineral Spring. When that road gets backed up, it gets backed UP. Fortunately the work day that followed was pretty quiet -- us mostly concentrating on getting the last of the roster maintenance done so we can do the big maintenance project and get a bunch of things updated. I did what I could to help out. And the ride home was pretty damn easy, which I am very grateful for. I've had worse starts to long weekends.
Afternoon's been pretty solid too. We watched the first episode of the "Haunted Gingerbread Showdown" on YouTube -- Mom caught part of an episode and showed me a bit, and we thought it looked interesting enough to watch from the beginning. It's all about making Halloween-themed gingerbread structures -- first episode was Beetlejuice-themed, as apparently this year is the film's 30th anniversary. Who knew? We're not wild about the host, but that never stopped us from watching "Halloween Wars." :p And there's only four episodes to this one, so we should finish up quick.
For writing, I decided to focus on the gift fic due this weekend -- get it out of the way, and then I can get fully back into "Fixing You" Chapter 9! Well, er, after the usual Saturday detour into "The Technicolor Phase." I ended up having a burst of inspiration for a different fic that was more suited to the friend I was writing for, so the other fic I wrote is now going to be the first draft of the Christmas fic I'm going to write the friend whom it seemed better suited for. If that makes any sense at all. :P Hey, at least I'm ahead on SOMETHING.
Videos consisted of a new Sim Supply build -- a house based on a picture of three stacked shipping containers forming a kind of living space; it turned out pretty neat -- and the next Call of Cthulhu set from Helloween -- Edward Pierce has escaped the asylum, seen a man murdered by forces beyond human comprehension, gone to speak to the man's widow, and, after many, MANY tries, defeated a horrible painting-monster. I know that makes it sound goofy, but it's genuinely good stuff. The game has its flaws, but I'm quite genuinely invested in the story. Definitely want to know how it plays out. (Which is honestly quite true of Helloween's other LP of the moment, Vampyr. It's weird how similar these two games can be at times, beyond the whole "PC voiced by the same guy" thing.)
And since then I've been catching up on websites and working on my ValiceMultiverse queue -- a lot of asks that took more time than I thought they would. Meh. Now I gotta empty out the inbox and answer some messages, as you do on a Friday. Keep meaning to ask someone if they want to do some writing stuff we started again too. . . Let me see what I still need to finish up doing first. Night all!
