Fairly Lazy Friday
Nov. 23rd, 2018 11:24 pmNothing major to report, just a few little things here and there:
-->Wrote some more on Chapter 10 -- finished up the "Vale of Tears" section with Alice killing the Slithering Ruin attacking Victor and Victor summoning up his Vorpal Fork in its fancy form. Now we move onto them going through a bunch of domains in the rest of Wonderland. Part of the reason this chapter's so long is that I wanted to represent places from both games, not just the arguably-prettier A:MR -- there's stopovers in the Village of the Doomed and the Wonderland Woods. I even include a closer-to-the-book version of Looking-Glass Land! I'm looking forward to revisiting all of it. :D
-->Watched some OXBox list videos (villains that denied you the pleasure of a boss fight with them and hangovers that left you reeling with regret the next day -- er, in-game, not in real life), a silly video from RTGamer about one of his Sims 3 test families having to escape a giant multi-story maze (two made it out, shockingly! After everyone glitched their way in XD), a house-building video from The Sim Supply (sort of -- the concept of this build was that the house was still under construction when it was abandoned, and now it's inhabited by a squatter. It turned out pretty cool!), and. . .
-->Two new sets from Helloween! One Call Of Cthulhu -- Pierce is full-on insane now, and the inhabitants of Darkwater are -- well, they're not doing so hot. Mostly because we've found out the secret behind the Miraculous Catch, and -- let's just say everybody's been eating something they really, REALLY shouldn't. There's still those annoying typographical errors (I really hope they patch the game to fix some of those -- "truth unvealed," seriously?), but the strength of the game is in its creepy atmosphere, and that it has in spades. The way it fucks with both character and player perceptions is great. Not to mention there was a genuinely tense sneaking-around bit. Weirdly enough, though, we seem to already be near the end of the game! We'll see how it goes, but it looks like this is a pretty short campaign. Unless there's a second act I don't know about. Or Helloween's particular playstyle (max insanity always) means that the game is shorter. *shrug*
There was also a set of Vampyr -- the penultimate set, in fact! Reid has tracked down the ingredients for an antidote to the plague, wrestled some answers from a spewer of cryptic bullshit, and destroyed the "Disaster" that was the source. And quieted the evil force behind said disaster. There's some stuff to wrap up regarding a certain Lady Ashbury, though, so we have a final epilogue chapter to play through. I'm a little sad to see the game go, but I'm also eager to find out all the answers and read the TV Tropes page. :p This game also has its flaws (still hate the save file nonsense), but the story, like CoC, has been pretty awesome.
-->Played some BioShock Infinite -- Elizabeth has had a significant costume change (to the dress that she's best known for), and our ride out of the city of sky racists set upon by angry revolutionaries has crashed thanks to the sudden return of Songbird. So now we're on our way to Comstock's to try and find a way to control the bird and escape. Which, in my case, involves a lot of dying to both Columbia and Vox Populi soldiers. *sigh* It's just tough to line up your shots and vigors when you're being shot at from multiple directions! Undertow remains fun, but Murder of Crows is basically my Old Reliable. Except against Motorized Patriots -- those get Shock Jockey. Elizabeth is also getting more and more traumatized, as you might expect. Poor girl. . .and the voxaphones are just getting sadder. I'm actually feeling sorry for someone who came off as cartoonishly villainous before. . .mainly because it turns out he has a soft spot for kids no matter what race they are. I still think the game isn't doing that great a job of balancing the whole "the Vox Populi is just as bad as Comstock and Columbia's government" thing, but it does do individual shades of grey pretty well.
-->Got my Valice Multiverse queue done, hooray~ Keeping on top of things there.
And now it's time to keep on top of things inbox-wise. Feels weird to know I've still got two days of weekend left -- neither of which involve cleaning. :D (Though I do have to change my sheets tomorrow, but that's no big deal.) And tomorrow's the 30th anniversary of MST3K! Need to remind Mom of that so we can maybe pick out an episode to watch tomorrow. . . :) Until then, g'night!
