Rather Distracted Christmas Eve

crossover_chickI blame TV Tropes and a certain tumblr blog I'm reading that has a lot of interesting tags that I've been plunging into on the regular. And, at least tonight, watching most of an episode of Black Mirror with my parents. Though that one led right back to TV Tropes, sooo. . . As is typical of any time off I get, I am going to spend it binge-reading anything I find particularly interesting and ignoring the things I PLANNED to do. Darn brain. Though, to be fair to me, I did:
-->Get my final gift fic all sorted, yay~ I'll be setting up a one-day queue for the tumblr ones, and doing a post for the DW ones here tomorrow. :)
-->Watch Helloween's latest Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin set (the dynamic duo has gotten past the midpoint boss battle and cured the sisters (and Vincent) of their vampirism, opening the door to the second half of the game and more painting worlds! They've completed the Dark Academy, killing the Creature of Frankenstein fame and many busy witches. Charlotte also got a new spell that allows her to explode enemies, and Helloween found a great area to farm XP with a couple of minotaur enemies weak to said explosions. So solid day for him. :p
-->Play BioShock Infinite -- TWO MORE FIGHTS WITH LADY COMSTOCK. HATE HER SIREN GUTS. Admittedly, I'm sure most of this is just me being shit at dodging enemy fire, but still -- it's very hard to concentrate on taking Lady Comstock out when you're being shot at from so many directions by zombie soldiers. Managed to get through them and look at the tears revealing the truth of her backstory (namely, Comstock himself killed her, not Daisy, and also arranged for the deaths of the Luteces -- which didn't EXACTLY work because of their cross-universe experiments), and now we've busted into Comstock's house after talking Lady Comstock's weird "partly Elizabeth's own vision of her mother as a monster" ghost down from killing us. I -- have no idea how far through the game I actually am at this point. It FEELS like I'm moving toward the climax, but at the same time, it still feels a little short. . . *shrug* I'll just keep playing and see what happens!

OXBox: Mike had to hunt down and kill a bear, without using guns -- Andy was kind enough to load up the character with a variety of explosives, however. First of all, it took them forever to FIND a bear (not helped by Mike managing to ram himself AND his horse straight into a tree while trying to locate prime bear real estate), then when they DID finally find one -- it promptly nearly killed Mike. And then booked it out of there so thoroughly when he managed to fend it off Mike had to run across what felt like most of the countryside before finding it again. Fortunately, when he did, his beloved Molotov cocktails came to the rescue, and the bear was slain in fiery death. Point to Mike, crowning him Christmas King!
OXTra: Luke and Ellen both had to draw a Pikachu in the snow, with Andy judging which was the best. It's been a running gag in previous years that, no matter how hard Ellen tries, Andy always chooses Luke's Pikachu. However, this year, an unfortunate dynamiting incident completely wiping out any of Luke's attempts to give Pikachu a face (he was trying just for a small indent for the nose, and got a huge blast crater that had to serve as the head entire) and Luke really messing up on the tail, means that Andy ended up giving the win to Ellen. So she is Christmas Queen, yay! Good stuff. :)
-->Open my yearly Christmas Eve present. I took a moment to choose what package I wanted, and Dad joked that it was because I didn't want to pick the one that was socks.
Guess what was in the present I opened. XD To be fair, I'd specifically asked for socks -- the "Future Kicks" OddSox based off the BTTF Part II 2015 Nikes. Mom decided to go all out and also got me the Doc Brown/Marty McFly character socks from Part I and Part II. (There isn't a Part III set -- yet, anyway.) So that's cool -- now I have four pairs of BTTF socks to wear around :D (the original part was a generic black lightning design)
Okay, only a little while more until it's officially Christmas -- time to clear up the comments I have and get that queue ready to go on tumblr. Hope you all had at least a tolerable Christmas Eve -- night all!
