Mostly from lots and lots of phone calls -- people calling about tax letters and the like, or about balances, or about the upcoming charity drives. . . Also stuff coming in via e-mail, and having to walk people through the new online giving, and -- *sigh* I got another batch of gifts on, though! Small victories. Maybe if I can at least get one batch on a day I can stop things getting too out of hand. . .

Evening was all right, at least. I got another chunk done on Chapter 14 -- Victor and Alice made it through the other end of their wedding rehearsal unscathed, and are now in Silent Burtonsville proper! And about to run into some new enemies. . . And the YouTubery of the night was very amusing:

-->A paired set of Deligracy/The Sim Supply videos, where they each took one of the other's builds and gave themselves $20,000 simoleons to renovate it, before showing the other person what they'd done. James grabbed one of Deli's oldest builds (from the truly ancient days of 2014, when The Sims 4 first came OUT) and updated it with all the fun stuff that's come with all the packs and patches to improve the exterior (including removing a window Deli had put in while experimenting with window heights that let passing Sims look DIRECTLY AT SIMS GOING TO THE TOILET XD), rejigger the interior a bit, and add a second floor. He ran out of money before he could furnish the upstairs or finish the downstairs remodeling, but it still came out really nice! Deli was impressed.

Deli, meanwhile, took a more recent tiny modern home James had created -- and did a total troll renovation focused on My First Pet Stuff and the infamous low-rez ball pit from Toddler Stuff, because James is very clearly on record as hating both (to the point where he's UNINSTALLED the former from his game so he can't accidentally use items from it!). She made this delightful pink, purple, and aqua "daycare center" with a couple of the small pets, "decor-only" litterboxes and cat trees, and as many ball pits as the budget would allow (she actually didn't spend a heck of a lot on changing up the lot and thus had a surplus at the end). James was literally speechless for a moment when he saw the results. XD He had a good laugh over it, though, as did Deli. :p

-->Another set of Resident Evil 2 REmake from Helloween -- we met the Licker today! It is a horrible quadripedal monstrosity with an exposed brain and terrifying hearing and it does SOOO much damage to the unprepared. As Helloween found out -- first one literally ran into him in a hallway as he and Claire stood frozen in fear, trying not to make a sound; and then the second one was summoned when the game FORCED Helloween to blow something up to get a medallion. He tried to fight it off, but got mangled -- and then the OTHER zombie in the room got its teeth into Claire, and -- yeah, cue a reload. He did better the second time around, fortunately. Claire proceeded to escape the police station through a much-too-elaborate secret passageway, and ended up in some sort of basement storage facility. Where she had to fight a boss that Helloween belatedly realized was an important character. NEARLY snuffed it thanks to Helloween accidentally getting her trapped all the time, but a few herbs later and she was back to herself, with the boss having flung himself over a railing. She's currently teamed up with a little girl looking for her mommy, whom I'm pretty sure is a plot-important character from the original. Looking forward to seeing where this is going, hoping there are less Lickers. (Seriously, they creepy.)

And I got my Valice Multiverse queue sorted, which is good. Though I kept getting distracted by looking back at my old Pern books. I discovered this goofy little Frasier AU series on AO3 recently: Tossed Salads, Dragons, and Scrambled Eggs where Seattle just randomly has dragons and Frasier and Martin have a pet one (a frost dragon named Snowflake). And it's reignited my love for Pernese fire lizards, even more than hoping that dragons will show up in The Sims 4. Been rereading bits of my old "Pern Crash" AU idea. . .part of me wants to go back in and rework it, make a proper story out of it, but I'm holding fast to my New Year's resolutions. "The Technicolor Phase" and the Holistic Assassin!Alice AU come first! This could burn itself out after a while -- I do tend to have phases when it comes to certain AUs. Such as the vampire stuff around last October. . .probably could get a Magical Monday post or two out of it on my tumblr, though. I've already got some ideas about how many different things I would steal from other stuff I like to combine into my "ideal" fantasy world. :p

Right now, though, it's time for the traditional "emptying of the inbox before bed." Still got three more days to get through. . .three increasing-colder days. Apparently it's down to -50F in some parts of the Midwest thanks to the polar vortex and windchill. And the system is moving our way starting tomorrow afternoon. Dunno if it's gonna reach THAT level of cold here, but. . .not going to be pleasant. *shivers* Keep your fingers crossed. Night all!
