crossover_chick: Doc snoozing on his couch (BTTF: exhausted)

For two key reasons:

A) Weather was pretty miserable most of the day -- if decently warm, at least, for April anyway

B) My parents, particularly my mother, are now both sick from something my Mom likely picked up from her new job -- and I'm pretty sure Mom made hers worse by insisting on rearranging the living room this morning, as she was basically completely wiped the rest of the day

Couple that with Dad saying that the traffic, particularly around the local grocery stores, was pretty nuts (a combination of "day before Easter" and "Stop & Shop is closed due to a strike") and -- yeah, haircut didn't happen. Mom knew the place I was gonna go, and I didn't want to go myself since I'm 88% sure the place she recommended is next to a Shaw's. So we basically all hung around the house all day. Dad went out briefly at lunch to get fries (we had hot dogs and fries for lunch, as he knows how to make that), and we both went out at supper to pick up sandwiches (Jersey Mike's -- had a Chicken Caesar wrap this time, which was fine except I didn't much like the sauce on it). At least I was able to refresh my supply of gum on the latter trip. . .

Online life was a bit of a lazy day too, with a lot of bumming around tumblrs I like to read and whatnot. I did get a few things done, though:

YouTube: Watched a couple more OXBox/OXtra list videos -- one about signs the private military force you've joined is working for the bad guys and thus you're about to get shanked by the protagonist/go rogue and have to fight your own teammates if YOU are the protagonist; and one about stupid ways video games stopped us going places, ranging from random "dancers" on a covered bridge in Pokemon Black/White 2, to a guy clinging to a drawbridge lever because he's terrified of monsters in God of War, to A COUPLE OF SUITCASES AT THE BOTTOM OF SOME STAIRS in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's "Mile High Club" mission. *tches* Some people just don't TRY.

I also watched Helloween's latest set of Secret of Mana 2 -- the gang has traversed the Valley of Flames, rescued a prisoner from one of the many bad guys, and gained the powers of fire through Salamando! Now they've gone to the Moonlight forest, home of the beastmen, in search of Luna. Our protags have leveled up to kick some serious ass and take some serious names -- Charlie can now summon mechanical golems to do her bidding, and of course Angela can launch fireballs at people. They are getting shit done! . . .or would be, if they weren't lost in a maze-like forest. XD Hells promised to look up where to go while he was doing some off-screen grinding after the set.

And I also indulged in some more Bloodlines videos -- flirting with Jeannette if you yourself are a Malkavian (and getting a giggle out of her by calling her a "daughter of Janus"); all the canonical endings (LaCroix is surprisingly nice to the Fledgling if they support him -- guess he figures it's best to keep this powerhouse close), and a modded-in ending where you can join the Sabbat (turns out Andrei, the Bishop of the local chapter, talks a good game, but even HE'LL try to open the sarcophagus in the end -- your character can fight and kill him to stop this, and then the Sabbat tie LaCroix to the top of his own tower to be incinerated by the sun and burn the sarcophagus, never knowing it had explosives inside -- and according to the comments, given it's C4, this wouldn't even set it off, so Jack's "prank" dies a mystery).

Writing: As you might imagine, this means I went straight back to Londerland Bloodlines for my writing tonight -- editing a LaCroix-POV piece in the end-game, since I'd just seen a lot of him. Doing his speeches are a lot of fun -- he's so full of himself. XD And I still love the moment I have planned where Alice appears right outside his penthouse window, having scaled the building with the help of some climbing equipment. XD Good times, good times. . .

I also got another Scene From Secundus up: #17: Peanut Butter Another one where I had to edit, though not so intensely as some of these stories. More just shoring up some awkward bits here and there. It's another "Victor feels guilty about the whole mess with Lewis" story -- poor guy. When he's in that mood, he needs all the hugs. Fortunately Alice is there to provide.

Video Gaming: Back to Fallout 4 today -- I consulted the controls and figured out what the heck "sneak" is! This allowed me to kill some raiders without a messy firefight pumping me full of laser holes and actually get to the first major friendly human NPC, Preston Garvey. Who promptly sent me on a new quest to get a battery for some power armor on the roof so I could pick up a minigun and shoot some raiders threatening his settlers. Failed utterly at picking a "novice" lock in the basement, but managed to hack the door open at the computer instead and get the power cell, then headed up to the roof and got the power armor -- well, powered, and grabbed the minigun to kill some raiders.

And then a DEATHCLAW burst out of a nearby building. These are some seriously nasty monsters, and I got myself killed trying to simultaneously run away and shoot it with a minigun that takes a moment to start firing and visibly overheats. Went back to the "checkpoint," tried again, managed to kill the darn thing and the rest of the raiders. Preston Garvey and his group thanked me, and the psychic of the group (who'd earlier let me know the name of my new dog, Dogmeat) told me that Shaun was still alive and that I needed to go to Diamond City to continue the main story. I'm actually sticking around the starting area for a bit, though, as Preston's bringing his remaining group to Sanctuary Hills, and the game may expect me to build them some houses on the workbench. (Yes, this is a thing that happens). Along the way, had to Google AGAIN to figure out how to get out of my power armor. Either this game is not good at explaining things, or I'm not good at reading the tips. *sigh* Probably a little of both. At least I have a little more experience with the combat now?

Okay, time to go around doing more of the things I missed doing earlier. Hopefully tomorrow the parentals will feel better -- and I won't feel worse. I mean, once one of us gets something in this house, pretty much all of us are guaranteed to get it, but -- I'm at least hoping for a milder version. Their coughing is pretty -- nasty. :( At least I have sick time to burn if I have to. . . Night all!
