Sickness Sunday
Apr. 21st, 2019 11:16 pmNot really for me (yet -- I still have a bit of soreness at the back of my throat, and occasional hints of stuffiness -- it doesn't seem to be developing INTO anything, though, so fingers crossed!), but my parents are still pretty messed up from whatever Mom brought home. Lots of deep-lung coughing and spitting up crap. Ugh. At least if I do get it, I have some sick time I can burn to recover. . .but I'm rather hoping I don't, because a) who wants to be sick and b) I already have to ask for a day off for a dentist appointment next week. . .
So it was another day of mostly us sitting quietly around the house -- though, fortunately, we actually got a break in the rain today around 3! So I promptly went outside and did five laps around the neighborhood. I haven't really been keeping up on the exercise this long weekend between my usual "I got sucked into this thing so now I'm scrambling to do the OTHER things I wanted to do," the sickness pervading the house, and the constant fairly miserable weather. Felt good to get out and get some proper fresh air and sunshine! I also:
-->Watched a couple of Kubz Scouts videos on brainteasers (one a double act with his best friend as they tried to answer some of those 7-Second Riddle video riddles; one of him on his own going through a quiz with some brainteaser answers), which was amusing. Also watched Call Me Kevin's highlights video of a stream he did for Kerbal Space Program, which was -- well. Let's just say his philosophy for building rockets was, "When in doubt, add more a) engines or b) wheels." XD Amazingly some of his nonsensical creations actually made it to space -- never hit the moon, though. Which is probably for the best, as he would have likely blown it up. XD
-->Played some Sims 4 -- have confirmed that yes, if you go to the docks neighborhood in Brindleton Bay, you can click on a boat there to travel to the lighthouse island! :D It's just a loading screen, but I like the fact that such a detail was even added in. Had the whole family go there on a museum trip -- and then promptly put in a jungle gym for Emma to play on. XD Victor also successfully asked Mortimer Goth for permission to drink (for his "Good Vampire" aspiration), and Alice gave him some more vampiric training, so he's slowly but surely inching his way up to Grand Master level! And then Alice had one of her "yell at my husband for no reason" moments (she hasn't had one of those in AGES, wtf lady), so to repair their bond I had them woohoo in her coffin. XD They seemed to enjoy it. All this during a massive thunderstorm in Newcrest -- I swear, that neighborhood has some of the most violent weather I've ever seen. . . Still, always a delight to play with my favorite family there. :)
-->Started working on "Secundus 2" again! You know, that fic project I was SUPPOSED to be concentrating on after finishing up "Fixing You?" And then "Londerland Bloodlines" happened because of all the Vampire: the Masquerade -- Bloodlines stuff I've been watching? XD Managed to get myself back on track today. Don't expect to see anything from it for a while yet, since I'm still working through editing pass #2 -- nowhere near ready for posting yet. But I have high hopes I can at least put up the first chapter as a "teaser" over Christmas this year. :)
-->Watched some more Sim Supply -- he had one "random packs" build video from the other day, where he created an old-timey sort of "arcade" (not as in video games; as in an early version of a mall -- multiple shops under one roof) using (as selected by his Random Pack Generator) Get To Work, Outdoor Retreat, Kids Room Stuff, Toddler Stuff, and Cool Kitchen Stuff. Except that he never used any of the latter as he didn't build any kitchens. XD Instead he had a camping store, a children's store, and a clock shop on the lower level, and he left the upper level fairly blank except for a basic "shop owner can live here" apartment layout. It came out really cool, though -- he did great things with his limited loadout. I might have to add it to the library of cool lots I've collected. :p
And today's video can be summed up, Call Me Kevin-style, as Sims 2 But James Has A Mental Breakdown XD He just -- he CANNOT keep up with all of his Sims anymore. Doona's become a child, and Sned and Beetle toddlers, and there's just too little space and too many Sims. Not helped by Sims regularly ignoring his commands to fight over who is going to take care of the children; the Nanny stealing one of his toilets after a house remodel meant he ran out of money to pay her; the toilet then glitching out when he went to replace it in its old position (it kept going diagonally INTO the wall); and generally everyone's needs just being garbage all the time and him just not being able to keep up. On the plus side, Brentnall got to pet the penguin! . . .Yay? XD Seriously, though, I hope he manages to find a way to keep it together better next episode. I do NOT miss the serious grinding it used to take to keep Sims' needs up. Or the ENERGY 12 CRIBS FOR TODDLERS. I'll take the Sims 4 Energy 1 beds any day. Let them sleep through the night! Or day, depending on when people are up.
And I've got my tumblr queues sorted for the moment -- time to answer what remains in the inbox. One last day of the long weekend to go. . .we'll see if I can manage to get my fabled haircut tomorrow! Not a problem for me to go alone if Mom's still not good, I just need to know where I'm going. . .night all!
