crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)

At the very least, it was nice for a while? Day started out sunny, then got super cloudy (with the building still being freezing -- that space heater my coworker got is earning its keep!), then got sunny again around the time I got home -- and warm enough for me to get a walk in outside! Then after supper it REALLY clouded up again, so. . . I don't know what this weather's doing. Probably raining again. *sigh* But it's definitely an improvement over the past couple of days, and I was able to get outside for a while, so I'll take it. Now we just have to hope this is a continuing upward trend. . .

Work itself wasn't too bad -- I spent a good chunk of the morning reviewing mailing proofs, and a good chunk of the afternoon calling people for various things. Working my way through returns and trying to get letters sorted for mailing things back to people. And putting stickers on folders in the afternoon, because my coworker noticed we'd never changed them. *sigh* That last one I could have done without -- sucked up the last hour of the day pretty tediously. Didn't help that I had to rush back to the phone twice in quick succession to take calls. . .but far from the worst day I've had there, so that's something. And I got a new AU idea over my lunch break -- well, sort of. I had an idea for four of the songs I've featured on Song Saturday on tumblr being all set in the same universe, and I got to looking through my tag while making sure I had the song names right, and. . .well, it seems to be expanding. ^^; *facepalms* Why am I wired like this. . .

I DID get more written on "Secundus 2" today, though! Specifically, Victor pulling out the Creepy Touched Smile to freak the hell out of Gordon Tannen. It was a fun little moment -- I always kind of like writing Victor being scary, just because it's so unexpected. Though Victor's pride in a job well done is about to take a nasty blow from the other patrons of the Palace Saloon. *pats him* It's all right -- I like you when you're going full Madboy.

Speaking of fic, I have a bit to share for a friend's birthday! The Mad Scientist, aka [profile] whitedove01, here's something for you and your verses that you can probably relate to more than you'd like right now:

"Uuurggh. . . ."

"Well, that doesn't sound like a fun noise."

Jeannie looked up to see Jack's head poking around her office door. "There are no fun noises in here," she replied, waving him in. "There is only pain. And suffering." She glared at the paper in front of her, then at the stacks teetering around her. "And waaaay too much math."

"Yeah, certainly looks like it," Jack agreed, strolling in. He plucked a paper from one of her piles and looked at it. "Timeline Wily? What?"

"It's for the world that those mechanical folks that we met at the carnival come from," Jeannie said, taking it from him. "The Higher-Ups came by earlier and told me that they'd pinpointed a bunch of other timelines and realities that are due for a collapse sooner or later and that they'd like combined into this new world order they're making up. So they gave me a bunch of notes so I could review and, you know, get an idea of what the hell we're gonna end up with." She grimaced. "Problem is, a lot of them are -- iffy. I mean, this one here?" She held up the paper she'd been studying, pointing at the forest of red lines crisscrossing it. "It's all stops and starts and 'go faster' and 'slow down' and 'reply hazy, try again.' I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out just what these Waltz kids were doing, and when, and in what order! Doesn't help that one of them basically adopts any monster he comes across. . ."

Jack glanced at the stacks, chewing his lower lip. "Uh -- they're not expecting you to actually fix any of them, right?" he asked, running his fingers through his freshly-dyed hair.

"If they are, they've got a surprise comin'," Jeannie grumbled, rubbing her eyes. "But no, it's just supposed to be a primer. So we're not taken too much by surprise when the newbies start arriving. Going in and actually straightening all this out is waaaay above my pay grade." She waved a hand over the piles, wishing she could just make them disappear. "We're here to help once all these stupid messes collapse. Nothing more."

"Okay then." Jack rounded her, putting his hands on her shoulders. "If it's not up to you to make it make sense, I wouldn't worry too much about it." He grinned, starting to massage her neck. "Hell, not making sense is usually more fun."

Jeannie chuckled, leaning into his touch. "Yeah. . .and ain't like we're masters of timeline order either, what with how many alternate realities those writers cooked up." She sighed. "Still. . .I pity the poor bastard who does have to get all this into logical order."

. . .I figured you could use someone to share the pain. :p Yeah, the inspiration for this was directly from your posts on all the notes you have to go over to get your timelines back in order, particularly the "too complicated for its own good" Waltz one. I decided, if you had to do all that, Jeannie should have to do something too. Maybe she can't get the timelines back in order, but she can look at the mess and complain with you. :p Hope it at least brings a smile to your face!

As for videos, had four which allowed me to chisel a few things out of the Watch Later:

A) The Sim Supply in my subscriptions, redoing one of his old 2006 Sims 2 builds in Sims 4! He of course chose the crappiest one his child self designed -- an incredibly goofy "modern open-plan" home with -- well, it honestly has to be seen to be believed. Terrifyingly, he got a pretty decent replica made in Sims 4. Wonder what that says about the series as a whole. . . XD Part of me is tempted to download it and see if I can renovate it when I have a free day in the game. . .I mean, my building skills aren't great, but I think I could do better than a three-wide staircase in the middle of the room, a tower of burglar/fire alarms (depending on game), and the Neon Blue Bathroom. XD

B) The latest episode of Atop The Fourth Wall, featuring the comic adaptation of the Halle Berry Catwoman movie! . . .Yes, really. It's actually less horrible than its source material, if only because it doesn't have some of the movie's weirder directorial decisions (the director's only done three things as such; he's actually a visual effects guy by trade) and can cut down on some of the unnecessary beats in the story, but it's still not GOOD. I mean, it features that costume soooo. . . I didn't quite catch the reference at the end of the review, so I don't know what's coming up next, but apparently it's another piece of bad cinema adapted to comic form. I wait on tenterhooks, Linkara. :)

C) The latest Bloodlines 2 clan intro trailer -- Toreador officially confirmed! As surprisingly creepy! Our clan archetype was a lady who set up a beautiful dinner scene for a guy, then filmed herself basically tearing his throat out, if all that blood is anything to go by. "A beautiful way to die," indeed. I'm seriously looking forward to the next two reveals -- again, I think we're all pretty sure by this point Ventrue is a given, but I really want to see what the final "opening" clan will be. Hmmm. . .

D) And then I followed up that bit of atmospheric creepiness with Call Me Kevin hawking some new merch and playing Snakeybus. XD If you're wondering what that is, you're a bus picking up passengers in various locales -- but the problem is, your bus is the snake in a game of "Snake" (you know, where every time your snake eats a dot, it gets longer, and you can't run into yourself or game over) and while you have the ability to ramp off things, destroy scenery, and jump, sooner or later you are either going to crash into yourself or the water. XD It was a delightful little game, with Kevin stressing out more and more with every level. XD But he did pretty well in the end, I have to say! Got some very long snakeybuses going. :D Good times~

And I've gotten my VictorLuvsAlice queue all sorted, so now it's time to leave comments and hit the sack. Two days to go. . .hopefully the week will stay tolerable. And the weather will indeed continue to improve. Fingers crossed everyone! Night!
