A Simlish Saturday

crossover_chickYes, game of the day was Sims 4, and my video-watching largely concentrated on catching up on The Sim Supply in my subscriptions! Plus some Deli and a comparison video. . . The run-down:
-->Sims 4 -- Wrapped up the Van Dort family vacation -- both Victor and Alice managed to convince Sims to give them permission to drink, AND Victor actually caught some butterflies at an insect spawner! :D So that made me happy. And the hits kept on coming once they actually returned home to Newcrest -- Alice got promoted at her job to Composition Curator, meaning she's only one level off maxing it; Emma completed the Rambunctious Scamp aspiration, meaning she's gotten two out of the four child aspirations sorted; and Victor finally became a Grand Master vampire! :D I had a BUNCH of power points to spend that I was saving for him -- he now has Tamed Thirst (meaning he won't attack Sims if he gets too thirsty), Cast Hallucination, Garlic Immunity, Vampire Creation, and Mist Form, in exchange for both levels of the Nightmarish Sleep weakness (since he and Alice barely use their coffins). So a very solid end to their week -- I feel good about leaving them and moving onto the McFlys after that. :) Gotta finally do some stuff with Get Famous, after all. . .
-->The Sim Supply -- his videos consisted of:
A) Going through old Sims 3 saves -- most of which wouldn't open for unknown reasons. The ones that did open did have some neat stuff -- his Island Paradise resort kind of makes me miss real hotels. And he did a cool 70s house with a neat sloping roof that apparently took him HOURS to properly pull off. But I dunno, I just don't like the art style of Sims 3, so it wasn't quite as fun for me.
B) The next part of his Sims 2 LP -- Brentnall has taken on Romance as a secondary aspiration, meaning he's gotten very popular with the ladies. With two in particular -- Margaret, a cheerleader, whom he's wined and dined and taken to his mother's favorite public woohoo spot for HIS very first woohoo; and Jasmyn, a secret society member whom Brentnall flirted with briefly, but never got up to romantic levels -- but who still stalked the HELL out of him while he was trying to go on his date with Margaret. It was weirdly hilarious. XD (There was a third girl as well, but she's currently furious with him after Brentnall flirted her up to a crush and then proceeded to move onto Margaret.) We'll see what happens in the future -- and if Brentnall remembers in time that college is also supposed to be about learning, not just woohoo. XD
C) James going over some of the patches to the Sims 4 base game, as we're coming up on 5 years and he was surprised to go back and see what wasn't actually included in the launch version of the game (the obvious ones being pools and ghosts, but apparently PAID TIME OFF didn't come until later on?). The biggest changes, of course, have been the "freeing up all clothes/accessories for all genders" update, the "we're putting in toddlers the same time as we're offering vampires" update, and the "oh hey we actually got terrain editing to work" update. Been a heck of a ride, I gotta say -- and really highlights that Sims 4 was probably rushed to release and has been recovering ever since. (I've actually heard that it was supposed to be another attempt at a Sims Online-style MMO, only to be hastily retooled when EA got definitive proof that's not what people wanted -- I have no idea if that's true or not, though.)

1) A Red Plumbob comparison video on the cowplant -- looks like the Sims 4 gives the creature the most life, and certainly the most interesting death. Not that I really want one again, after the "it ate Victor and drained him because I wasn't on the lot to stop him going for the cake" incident. Problem is, if I want him to complete the Freelance Botanist aspiration, I kind of HAVE to grow another one. . .
2) A Deli video on some "modern minimalist" custom content mini stuff packs, which were pretty nice! Not nearly as cool as the Pufferhead fan-pack, but still good stuff for fans of the modern/minimalist style. And with some cool paintings too -- tempted to get the packs just for those. I'm so tempted by so much custom content for the game lately. . .and then I remember that patches are a thing and I go "mmmmmm, how much do I actually want to update. . ."
The other major accomplishments of the day were getting some writing done on one of my private AUs (still on my period, so I might as well focus on less "high stakes" stuff than the second draft of my big project) and putting up the next "Scenes From Secundus" chapter! Which started out as the Christmas 2013 gift fic I wrote for Gigs, but, uh -- I ended up completely rewriting it. Mostly because I wanted to revise the beginning, then I saw an opportunity to add Lightning, and before I knew it the whole thing had more or less changed. The gist of the story is still the same, but. . .uh, hope you like the new version, Gigs! ^^;
And now I'm doing a bit of the RP thing on tumblr -- time to clear out the inbox and prepare for tomorrow's adventures! I have some new riddle videos from Kubz Scouts and Gloom, plus the OXBox stuff I haven't gotten to yet. . .probably gonna be another Fallout 4 day with that lineup. Got me some raiders to kill, after all. *evil giggle* Night all!
