crossover_chick: a vampire version of Alice Liddell and a human Victor Van Dort kissing (SIMS: Vamp!Alice and Victor Smooches)

Although my entire day wasn't Sims-themed, as I did have some Helloween to catch up on as well! Fortunately, thanks to my iPad being pretty much dead and thus stopping me from doing my usual morning TV Tropes binge, I was able to get an early start. The breakdown:

-->The Sim Supply: Started off with a video he made about installing the pure 2014 base game before patches (it can be done! Just a bit complicated and looks like it requires a physical copy of the game) -- I'm not sure HOW we survived in that version of the base game. It's just so -- bland! I'm pretty sure I came in after pools and ghosts and all that myself. . .it was genuinely hilarious to see James getting so ticked off at the tutorial tooltips, and the lack of features (no move objects! No resizing! No anything!). Oh man -- suddenly I am SO grateful for all the patches we've gotten over the years.

Then, this evening, there was another episode of Super Sim where Max started finishing up the StrangerVille mystery! He delved into the depths of the labs and found the Mother; crafted and tested an experimental vaccine; created an ACTUAL vaccine and vaccinated/cured three Sims; started recruiting them to help defeat the Mother -- and then the game crashed, and corrupted all of James's recent saves. FORTUNATELY he'd made a backup the day before he started playing, but yeah -- we basically just had an episode that didn't count. And now we don't know how Max is going to complete StrangerVille, because James tried AGAIN to do all that, and it crashed AGAIN. Yeeps. Makes me nervous about my own StrangerVille-investigating pair in Newcrest. . .but it's gonna be a while before I get back to THEM, admittedly, so maybe whatever's doing this will be patched by then.

-->Deligracy: Watched two more videos from her "Let's Build a (CREEPY?) Orphanage" miniseries -- she's completed the second floor main living space, kitchen, dining, and bathroom; the first floor classroom (it's a room with a bunch of desks with private journals; it looks good) and communal bathrooms; the basement laundry and secret hidden child's room (behind a bookcase door); and the second floor headmistress's room. It's all coming together really nice -- I'm looking forward to completing the playlist and seeing the finished product. :)

-->Helloween: Caught up on his Secret of Mana 2 Saturday LP -- the God Beasts continue to be endurance marathons that wreck our protag's health and stats. Dolan, the God Beast on display today, was a particularly nasty example, as his tower was full of REGULAR enemies that ALSO wrecked our main's health and stats. Poor Helloween was spamming spells in a desperate attempt to keep everyone alive. Good thing he managed to pick up some better armor and weapons from the merchant cats before making his way inside -- he would have gotten SLAUGHTERED otherwise! And there's still six more God-Beasts to go. . .

And, later on this night, we had more Dead Space 2! Featuring an Isaac with massive survivor's guilt that is NOT helped by Marker-induced hallucinations; an Ellie who really just wants to get out of this alive; and lots of necromorphs who don't want them to get out of this alive. And a dude who tries to lock Isaac in a big crushing machinery sort of area, apparently completely unaware Isaac has stasis modules and can just fly right through the slowed machines. And lots of explosions, as balloon animals and exploding canisters remain Helloween's weakness. XD Still super enjoying the game -- it's good on many many levels. Kind of glad my first experience was Dead Space 3 now, because it means I enjoy the two good ones before it all the more. XD

-->Newcrest Adventures: In my own Sims game, we've officially moved onto the McFlys! I have had Marty step into the spotlight so he gains fame, though he hasn't done anything notable enough to gain any significant notoriety yet. Though he did finish another song. I also had him and Jennifer go on a date, because a) why not and b) it was the Night On The Town pop-up holiday, where food and drink at bars and restaurants are free. Had them visit Salty Paws Saloon in Brindleton Bay for a lark -- gold-level date (despite Marty's long-refusal to get Flirty) and holiday successfully completed, yay! And then they got home and had to deal with broken appliances and ANOTHER vampire break-in! *shakehead* I gotta both upgrade that damn washing machine, and get some garlic to hang on the front door. This is getting ridiculous. Maybe one or the other can be a New Year's resolution for the family -- that's coming up tomorrow for them.

As for my tumblr update this week (the Van Dort-Liddell Granite Falls Winterfest), I've gotten all the pictures sorted -- 4 and a HALF updates. I didn't have QUITE enough for a full five. *facepalm* At least I was able to avoid going to a wonky number. . . I've got the first update started, with the pictures up and captioned and the start of the text portion. Gonna be doing a lot of writing tomorrow, though! And it's hard to pre-draft these on my work lunch break because it's hard to tell where a particular update is going to go if I can't look at the pictures that make it up. . . Meh. Well, I've done long updates before, I can do them again.

-->Secundus 2: Started the introduction of our third villain to the Tannens -- he's clearly not thrilled to be there, but he thinks Buford and Gordon's hatred of Doc Brown and Victor Van Dort respectively might be useful to him. He hates them quite a bit himself, you see, on account of blaming them in particular for his death. . . Ah, it's fun to write villains, sometimes. It's an entirely different mindset, meaning a decent change of pace, and with these villains in particular, I can be a little goofy. Always the best part! XD

-->Other:

A) I also watched a Call Me Kevin video on the game Overlord -- a game that ENCOURAGES evil actions, so for once Kevin is in his ELEMENT. XD Especially since he has many little minions that he can encourage to kill sheep and villagers and halflings and trolls. Raining death and destruction down upon the local village -- all in a day's work for Kev!

B) On the Sims side, I also checked out a speed build of a cute little witch's cottage. The outside was very sweet, but the inside was a little cramped for my tastes -- tiny builds are interesting, but I wouldn't want to live in one, and I don't think my Sim would want to either. Still, great aesthetic, and it really makes me hope that we do eventually get witches and other supernaturals in Sims 4.

C) Got in my walk! Didn't get a chance yesterday, because hot, but it cooled down enough today to get one in. Hooray for getting my exercise. Gotta keep that up as we move into air conditioner weather. (Not QUITE yet, but -- it's coming. You can feel it.)

Aaand that's about it, really. Time to empty out the inbox and go to bed. Work again tomorrow, bleh. At least it's only two days, and then I get another day off. Granted, I have a dentist appointment on that day off, but what can one do? *shrug* Beyond planning to play more Fallout 4 and finally start watching those Bloodlines 2 videos I've been hoarding. :p Night all!
