crossover_chick: Doc looking very sarcastically over his shoulder (BTTF: in a sarcastic mood)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
Thursday started out rainy and then got stuck in foggy (though, as stated, that at least didn't ruin our Mystic trip); Friday was gray and drizzly; and now today LOOKED nice when I first got up, but then we got a series of passing rain showers (the first coming RIGHT AFTER I'd put my bras out on the line to finish drying -- fortunately that was just spitting rain and my Dad rescued them so I could put them in the dryer) and even a few rumbles of thunder! Cleared up by the evening, but by then the damage was done. And here my coworkers were saying the weekend was supposed to be gorgeous. . .I guess Sunday still has as chance of being just nice, but I'll believe that when I see it at this point.

The rain coupled with some general period malaise has made this kind of a lazy day -- never got to video gaming, though I did at least look at the broken mods list on SimsVIP to see how everything is doing. The main problem with that list is that it makes me realize there are so many cool mods out there that I'd love to use (like one that's a total overhaul of the cooking system, which includes buying groceries and the like), but I always worry about how much stuff will break, and how long it'll take to fix. . .staying relatively mod-light means there's less I have to worry about with patches and suchlike. But darn it, there really is some cool stuff out there. . . *shakehead* Focus on backing up your current games and the stuff you've already got first, Vic!

Apart from that, I did accomplish a few things on the to-do list:

-->Gave my room the necessary cleaning -- it is nice to do this every other week and have some Saturdays free. Especially since it's summer, where the chance of "doing things on weekends" goes up quite a bit. And happily my room never really gets that dirty, so that's good. Still, gotta keep up somewhat with the dusting and suchlike!

-->Watched all the Bloodlines 2 videos I had in my Watch Later queue -- IGN's rapidly-becoming-infamous awkward gameplay; Outstar's reaction to said gameplay (and the revelation that the E3 demo was hands-off -- the person playing so awkwardly was in fact a tired Paradox employee); VG-47's take on the demo (it's all the same quest, but nobody's done it quite the same way -- and I got to see the Thinblood power I'd most like, Chiropteran! Which involves summoning swarms of bats to mangle your enemies and essentially getting to fly. I approve); Outstar's theory on who the "Pioneers" faction is in the game (she thinks it has to do with the city's founders and the Toreadors -- the game implies the Toreadors used to be the major powerhouses in the city, but their influence is weakening, and they're not happy); and Outside XBox's Mike and Jane detailing all the wonderful ways you can be an asshole in the demo (including being nasty to people, outright lying to them, stealing their shit, killing them unnecessarily, jumping queues, and dancing like you just don't care XD). All good stuff -- I feel like I've gotten a sense of how different a quest can be from the options you pick in dialogue and your available powers. Sure, the gameplay was a little awkward in most of the demo stuff I saw, but nobody's quest ended the exact same way:

A) Gamespot, whom I watched first, managed to sweet-talk/trick Slugg, the character you've been told to find and get some information off of, into telling them where the info was, and let him slip away out of the city, but then lied to the quest-giver so they could keep the info instead of giving it to her

B) IGN, in all their awkward glory, tried to sweet-talk Slugg into giving them the info, but accidentally tipped their hand by using his name before he actually told it to them; then they went full murder-spree and EXECUTED the guy before going back and telling the quest-giver they'd killed him before getting the info

C) VG-47 attempted to bully Slugg into giving them the information; when he pushed back, they then tried paying him, only for him to take the money and set his goons on them (after his face REALLY glitched out, yikes -- this was the demo playthrough that exposed the most technical problems. At least I know the game's currently still pre-alpha!). Once the goons were defeated, he pleaded for his life -- they let him go after getting the location of the info, and delivered it to the quest-giver as promised

D) And Outside X-Box were simply BRUTAL -- trying to bully Slugg into getting the info, defeating his goons, taking both the info AND all his cash (and taunting him by saying they didn't even need it!), KILLING him, and then going back and telling the quest-giver they lost the info on the way back. Andy was like, "Jane, Mike, WTF." XD

And that's not even getting into different powers affecting combat, or different dialogue options with different characters (turns out being super rude/kind of Masquerade-breaky with a particular character will have him decide you're too crazy to mess with, skipping a potential fight -- unless you go and steal his shit right in front of his nose, thanks Jane!) -- there will be variety, and I am pleased. Now all they have to do is get those animations up to snuff. . .

-->Did some "plot-planning" stuff for "Londerland Bloodlines" -- I've been meaning to try and stitch together a rough timeline and see what Alice would do for all of the game's quests, so I got a start on that tonight. Copied over her "character sheet" stuff from when I did it for a lark on my tumblr, and the "eleven nights" the Bloodlines Wiki claims the game takes place over (October 21st/22nd to October 31st/November 1st). The latter seems WAY too short to me (possibly because it only covers the main quests -- but even then, I still think handling Therese and Jeannette should take a couple of nights at the very least!), but it's at least a good starting point. I'll keep poking at it -- it'll give me something to do on Saturdays for a while, at least. :p

-->Watched Helloween's latest set of Secret of Mana 2 -- the God-Beasts are getting easier as our characters level and become stronger, so he was able to fit TWO into today's set! The God-Beast of Wind and the God-Beast of Wood, respectively. The first was a fun fight done WHILE FLYING AROUND ON FLAMMIE'S HEAD, so that was pretty cool. The second, sadly, was another static "stand here and wail on this sprite over there" fight -- admittedly, against a giant jack-o-lantern, but still. It's weird how some of the fights are much more dynamic than others -- you sort of feel that some of these Beasts were a victim of crunch-time woes. Still, Hells's commentary is always fun, and it's pretty cool to see the characters getting more and more powerful as they reach the endgame. Angela, Duran, and Carlie feel like the sort of characters who can save the world now! :) And I'm very much looking forward to them doing it.

-->Got up another Gigs-related Scene From Secundus: First Words! Which, given that one was written last year, had ONE very minor edit made to it. XD Yeah, I wouldn't bother doing an "updated" version of this one, Gigs -- I literally just changed the beginning of one sentence slightly. But hey, at least it shows that I do have SOME confidence in my writing skills. As long as the story in question is less than three years old. :p

And now I'm doing a bit of the RP thing, the messaging thing, and the queuing thing -- usual Saturday night stuff. Four day weekend almost over. :( But I still have a Sunday, and hopefully that Sunday will be nice, so that's something. And I only have one full week left before Summer Short Weeks start, sooo. . . Something to look forward to! Just gotta press on in the meantime. Night all!
