A Lazy Air-Conditioned Saturday

Yeah, today was definitely a hanging-around-the-house Saturday -- and not just because it was a) super hot and muggy outside and b) we had one big passing thunderstorm that dumped all the rain on us for a little while. I just sort of drifted into having a "reading TV Tropes and interesting blogs on tumblr with occasional watching of YouTube videos" kind of day. Though I did get a few things done:
-->Changed the sheets on my bed and vacuumed my rug, which, yes, hooray for basic cleanliness things
-->Got the most recent Unofficial Bloodlines Patch and installed it -- yes, I AM planning on starting a new run on that game! Reason being, we're entering the time of year where I have some extra time off, so I'm figuring I can fit in Fallout 4 sessions on Fridays, Vampire: the Masquerade -- Bloodlines on Saturdays (and finally do my Malkavian Alice run), and Sims 4 on Sundays! Once summer's over, I'll probably switch to alternating Fallout 4 and Bloodlines on Saturdays. See how it all goes!
-->Prepped my Sims 4 files for the patch -- made a full backup on my external hard drive, then made a second backup of my saves, mods, and options to a special folder in My Documents. I also updated all the mods I could -- getting a reminder in why I've been so custom content-and-mod-lite this time around with Sims. I have a nasty habit of getting into stuff made by people who retire from the game. All of my Alice CC is old, and I'm worried we're getting to the point where I'm going to HAVE to take it out because it won't be compatible with a patch. At least I can always rely on MC Command Center. . .and somebody updated one of the mods I use because the original creator hasn't yet, so lucked out there. Oh, there's so much cool stuff out there, but I'm so worried about it all breaking. . . *sigh* Well, patch is installed (I think -- Origin acted briefly like the download FAILED, but the game doesn't say it needs an update still?), so we'll see how everything behaves once I take a quick look at the vanilla game and make sure it's behaving itself. I still need to get Island Living, but maybe I'll buy that before the 4th of July weekend.
-->Listened to the latest episode of the Discworld recap podcast I follow -- with some difficulty; the volume was SUPER soft this time around. Had to turn up both the volume on YouTube and my computer, AND temporarily shut off my air conditioner to actually hear it! Today's book was Sourcery, and Manning and Dani were both fairly critical of it, feeling like it wasn't Terry's best. Though Dani loved the depiction of the Horsemen in it, and the Librarian (and was audibly thrilled to hear the latter was a recurring character throughout the rest of the series). I remember enjoying the book myself, as it has some great moments, but I wouldn't put it in my top ten. (Personally, I'm just waiting for them to get to Guards! Guards! so I can squee over Samuel Vimes. XD)
-->Also watched a couple of CallMeKevin videos -- first one on The Thing video game, where he started off by shooting his squadmates willy-nilly and promptly got himself killed like two minutes into the game. XD He then stole everyone's guns; got continually lost in the snow; lost the trust of his teammates by exposing them to horrible Thing corpses; blew up a squadmate who wouldn't follow him; got electrocuted; fought a bunch of Thing beasts; and got lost in the snow again. XD Did I mention he's also never seen the movie? The second one was The Universim, a God-Game where you take control of a planet and its population of "Nuggets." As you might imagine, Kevin is a cruel and incompetent God, mostly interested in getting his Nuggets to make more Nuggets to believe in him, and all but four of his first city died of various causes (infections, disease, hunger, and Kevin dropping things on them). It was delightful. XD
-->Also caught the latest riddle videos from Jay and Kassie -- more goofy "catch the cheater" riddles, and a lot of "three ways out, which one won't kill you?" questions. Jay and Kassie handled it with their usual aplomb -- meaning they got less than half right. XD But they had a good time along the way.
-->Had an annoying day of lacking inspiration to write, so in the end I updated my two game-based AU documents -- "Tell Me Where To Find Shelter," for my Victor run of Fallout 4, and Londerland Bloodlines, for my Malkavian Alice/Ghoul Victor AU, soon to be a run on Bloodlines itself. Hey, it's SOMETHING, even if it's just notes on how Fallout Victor would totally adopt this one random wounded mongrel you can find in the game (her name is Mutt! Or Sparky, or Buttface, depending XD), or how I have this one Londerland Bloodlines AU where the cast gets fire lizards (because vampires and dragons are TOTALLY my jam).
And I answered everything on Valice Multiverse, so I'm good there. Still have to fully sort out my inbox, plus a certain fic. . .ugh, but I'm tired tonight. And a touch headachey. . .I think I'm gonna have to hit the sheets a bit earlier than I usually do. We'll see if I have the house to myself tomorrow or not -- kind of depends on the weather. Either way, gotta finagle things to go get Dad a birthday card. . . I'll figure it out. For now, night all!
