A Chill (Though Warming Up) Monday
Aug. 26th, 2019 11:08 pmAKA, not quite as unseasonable as yesterday, though we did start out in the low 60s and stay there for a bit. Warmed up to at least the high 70s by this afternoon, though -- got in a good solid walk around the neighborhood, which I appreciated. :) Honestly, if the weather just stayed like this, I'd be content. Cool enough for sleeping without the AC; warm enough that I can hang out in t-shirts and light pants. :)
My aunt's also doing better, happily -- after a number of delays, she's finally had her back surgery, and came though well. I'm glad -- that was worrying (and frustrating, what with them constantly pushing back the surgery). Hopefully her recovery will also go smoothly!
Anyway, with nowhere to go today, I turned my attention to Sims 4. Mainly, watching a bunch of videos on it to clear out my Watch Later queue and waiting subscriptions a bit:
A) An episode of "The Sims Logic" I missed, focusing on StrangerVille -- particularly liked this one as it had glitches I know and "love" ("Sim freezes while on a walk with a dog, dog keeps going, hilariously long leash results" and "Sims washing dishes in the bathroom sink" (had to take the mod that fixed that out, as it hasn't been updated in a bit :( ))
B) GrayStillPlays doing more Sim torture! Today's offering -- a horrible maze house made up of over 2,000 tiny rooms where Sims had to figure out how best to get to a toilet and a kitchen that were on opposite ends of the house. Gray thought that they would all die once someone set the kitchen on fire, from lack of food -- nope, FRIGHT got them first! Turns out someone still had the Fear Mod installed. :D It was pretty hilarious, especially with the glitches ("Who was swimming in my grass?!") XD
C) The second half of Deli's half-modern, half-traditional house, featuring the floor plan and the furnishing! It turned out quite nice, in my opinion -- a nice modern kitchen, with everything else a little more traditional. The little downstairs sitting area and upstairs study nook were both nice -- and I loved her purple teen's bedroom. Reminded me of my own. ;)
D) Another Deli video about a bunch of custom content she'd picked up -- some nice CAS and Build/Buy items! Including some cool L-shaped sofas and a glass coffee table. I'm keeping away from adding in any more CC or mods into my game until I get Realm of Magic (if I'm going to add some major mods, I want to make sure they've been updated to work with the pack I've wanted for AGES), but it was nice to see, at least! :)
E) & F) Two new episodes of James's "Rags To Riches Island Edition" LP -- focusing on Banana saving a sick Mr. Chow Chow (who is actually a Ms. Chow Chow) from Canoe Reefs, who didn't have any pet stuff to take care of her. . .only to enter a new level of hell because 1. Mr. Chow Chow is a troublemaker and CONSTANTLY misbehaving; 2. curing Mr. Chow Chow's illness has left HER with no money to care for the dog, or herself. Cue James scrambling to keep the dog from wrecking everything, keep Banana's needs up, keep the garden nice, keep merchandise in the store so Banana could actually sell things and earn money. . . Both episodes were kind of spent in panic mode. XD And that's not even getting into the fact that Banana is almost COMPLETELY IGNORING her own DAUGHTER in favor of the dog. Column hasn't even aged up yet because James won't go back to the lot she and her dad are living on! (Not to mention, the one time he DID, it was revealed that he'd locked the dad out of the hut where Column's bassinet was. . .) It's hilarious and I will almost be sorry to see Column become a toddler XD
G) A video from Fantayzia about a new save file for Willow Creek she stumbled upon, featuring the use of a new mod, T.O.O.L., that lets you place objects in the world around your lots. MSQSims used it to redo a couple of neighborhoods in Willow Creek and put new items all over the place. Fantayzia was all about it, and I have to say, it all looked pretty cool! Certainly more lived in. . .though the stationary placed cars DID look a little odd when compared to the moving cars the game generates for the roads. Still, it was an impressive piece of work. I'm tempted to download one of these "rebuilding the worlds" save files at some point. . .though I'll probably wait until I have all the packs I want to do a new save. (Namely, Realm of Magic, and whatever becomes their "University" expansion. I want to do Victor and Alice (and maybe Victoria and Emily, and Lizzie and Bonejangles) in college.)
H) And finally, to wrap things up, a quick Pixelade news video about an upcoming free update to the game that seems to be tied to the upcoming Sims 4 fifth anniversary (the Sims team is doing their "Maxis Monthly" livestream on it next week). So that's something to look forward to! Now if only they'd release some more information on Realm of Magic, instead of just waterfall gifs. . .
Whew -- heck of a lot to get through, huh? But I'm glad I got the chance. :) Trying my best to drop the number of videos sitting around waiting to be watched to zero!
I also played the Sims, surprisingly enough -- finishing up the week with Eric, and now Andy! Gave Andy a bit of a makeover (and finally got a look at his human disguise! It's -- well, he looks better as an alien), so now he has some outfits OTHER than his alien suits. Also followed Eric to work again to wrap up his latest case -- and he FINALLY got promoted! He's made Captain, rank 8 of the career! Came with a bunch of fun little bonuses too. . .I really gotta redo his house, especially now that he has a live-in boyfriend and a dog. And will be getting a cat, as Andy is a cat-lover. Might dump a bunch of his stuff into the household inventory, then see what's available on the gallery for a small lot. . .
And I got back on track with my writing (I gave myself some time off from that on the "official vacation weekend") -- back to Secundus 2, with Marty and Jennifer discussing delaying their wedding, only for Strickland to come in and say that they shouldn't. Can't let the Tannens win, and it'll be excellent bait to take out these bastards once and for all. Plus, as he will say next time I write, they don't want to antagonize the mayor by staying any longer than they said they would. . .slowly but surely coming up on the climax! I can't wait. :)
And now I'm just catching up on messages, and queues, and getting my Sims pictures sorted for another update on Newcrest Adventures. Feels good to have a little extra time to get that all fixed up! Tomorrow: as I don't think we have any plans to go anywhere again, I'm thinking a little Call Me Kevin marathon (I've got a bunch of his stuff in the Watch Later), plus Fallout 4 and some Helloween stuff I haven't gotten a chance to watch yet. Hell, even if we DO end up going somewhere, I might be able to do most of this -- Mom's back at work for the afternoons, after all. We'll see -- I'm getting back to my grind. Night all!
