Last Hurrah Of The Vacation
Aug. 29th, 2019 11:25 pmWhich is weird to say, as I still have the next four days off, but it's the last trip we took as a family during the time period, so. . . I would have put "Last Hurrah Of The Summer," but that's probably best saved for the Canobie Lake Park trip we're planning for next weekend (to make up for us having to cancel on Sunday because of my aunt's accident. She's doing all right, don't worry -- out of the hospital and into a rehab place. Trying to push herself a little too much, but she's got my mom and her own family looking out for her, so that's all right). We'll see how that pans out.
As for today, it was actually mostly a "hang around the house" day, due to my mom being with my aunt as she got settled in the rehab place. I took the opportunity to catch up on some Sims videos and play a little of the game myself. I got through:
-->Two videos from Carl's Sim Guides -- one about the mods he likes from TwistedMexi, who makes a lot of mods involving testing cheats and world manipulation and the like (he's the one who created the T.O.O.L. mod that MSQSims used to remake two residential areas in Willow Creek); one about everything we currently know about Sims 4 Realm of Magic (nothing really new there, but I'm hungry for any information I might have missed)
-->A video from Plumbella where she blew off stress from doing her Master's at uni by using the Extreme Violence mod to slaughter every Sim she could possibly find in her game (it was pretty hilarious, especially with her commentary XD)
-->A video from GrayStillPlays with another Sim Torture Build -- a house where the first four floors are just one long spiral hallway, with a plush living area in a corner at the very top. The question being, could any of the Sims actually make it up there? Answer -- nope! The need to pee and random stops and socialization tripped them all up in the end, and everyone died from starvation. And Gray's frame rate died from the ridiculous house. XD Seriously, how he did not crash his game. . .
-->And the next episode of "Rags To Riches Island Edition" from James, where Column finally became a toddler! She's a little Charmer and very cute. :) If a little prone to nightmares, as James found out when she kept not wanting to sleep in her bed until he found the monster light. At any rate, with her finally aged up, the whole family can live at the retail store and make some serious dosh! James has actually cut the number of banana trees on the lot down to one, and "Gift of Sulani"-ed it into being perfect quality, so now he has less to worry about from gardening. He's also decided to sell the flowers in Banana's inventory -- he was resisting before, because they sell for hilariously high amounts at the markup, but given that a) Banana started out the set with seven simoleons to her name and b) Realm of Magic is coming up fast -- yeah, it's time to start making some serious dosh and get this series closer to completion. He's determined to learn how to bake with plantains, though, and earn money using those dishes. We're all cheering for you, James! And for Banana too.
-->As for my own game, I took a break from the Newcrest families and instead went to Oasis Springs to work on my old water park lot. Having Island Living helps a lot there -- I was able to use a fair few items from that to spruce the place up. Got the children's play area done, with fountains and swings and monkey bars and all that. I also changed up the sign for the place, and gave the ticket building and the bathroom/showers a new exterior coat of paint. It's not QUITE come together yet, but it's closer than it was before! Next time I visit it, I'm thinking I'll work on the eating area, then move onto the pool and "slide land." XD Would be nice to have my Sims visit it for reasons OTHER than catching a criminal (as Eric did once).
-->And in non-Sims-related news, I got up the final chapter of "A Wedding, A Wedding, We're Going To Have A Wedding!" -- In A World Of Our Own. I dunno about you guys, but it gave ME the feels. ^-^ Seriously, that last exchange. . .I like writing fluffy stuff for these two. :) Now I just have to figure out the inevitable "exploring Victor's Otherland" fic that this story has prompted, given I just dropped a bunch of characters from his domains into this last chapter without much explanation. . .
Mom finally got home a little before five -- we left shortly thereafter, braving the highway and all its road construction to get to the mini golf place she found, Crystal Caves. It proved to be a really nice course -- good scenery, cool water features, and surprisingly difficult holes. Lots of bumps and curves and what have you. We all struggled quite a bit (Dad in particularly got stuck in a fake sand trap pit on one hole), and while Dad eventually won, it was by ONE STROKE over Mom and me, who tied. I also scored the only unaided hole in one on the course, on the very last hole! XD Dad got one as well, but as a result of Mom's ball hitting his and sending it down the chute. XD So that was funny.
After that, we needed to find a place for dinner -- Mom eventually suggested The Black Dog Bar and Grille. Busy place, with a definite country-western/rednecky vibe (not something we're used to), but the service was good and the food delicious. I got a "Huge Turkey Club," which lived up to its name -- they split it into quarters, and I had to take the last one home with me! Plus a handful of fries, which were really good too. Mom raved over her chicken sandwich, and Dad enjoyed his mushroom cheeseburger, so that was all good. :) Then, after coming back home, Mom broke out the cheesecake again for dessert. :D Om nom nom~
And then I grabbed a shower, and the rest of my evening has been catch up. Tomorrow -- last "Fallout Friday" of the summer! Mostly because it's the last Friday off I'll have for a while. . . Also thinking I need to do a marathon of Outside XBox/Xtra because I have a bunch of their videos waiting in my Watch Later queue. (Including two Hitman 2 videos! Can't pass those up.) Also gotta see if I can get in a walk, and get cracking on a friend's fanfic that I've been meaning to read more of (it's a great fic, just LONG chapters, which means reading and writing a good review takes a while). Gotta make the most of my final days off. . . Night all!
