I was looking up the results of the SimVIP giveaway of the pack on Twitter (no luck, sadly) and happened to stumble across a twitter thread with SimGuruNick mentioning the bugs people have been finding. Including:
-->Game crashes if you exit CAS with a Spellcaster while they're doing their CAS idle (which happens a LOT, according to that livestream I watched, soooo)
-->"Spellcaster eyes don't appear to work" (not sure what that means, but still)
-->Potions have no monetary value and thus can't be sold in stores (James will LOVE that)
-->Random townies just show up in the Magic Realm (this has a hilarity factor, but I imagine it gets annoying fast, especially since they apparently change their clothes, and we know what Maxis-generated outfits are like)
-->Random Sims, INCLUDING OTHER HOUSEHOLDS, suddenly becoming spellcasters (this seems to be the case for only unplayed households, but still! They're at least doing magic when they shouldn't, and I do not approve!)
There's mods to fix the latter two issues, at least (made by someone going by ZeroSims, who has also made some cool vampire mods AND has an icon of a Sims Alice in the "Late But Lucky" dress so I already like them), but -- uuuuugh. I was looking FORWARD to this pack, and now. . .I still want to buy it, I still want the magic, but. . .there's a good possibility I'll be waiting until NEXT weekend and doing some research to see what I absolutely need to have in my game to, you know, MAKE IT WORK AS INTENDED. Or maybe the Sims Team will actually release a bug-fixing patch. We'll see.
AAAANYWAY, some stuff about my day:
-->GL issue seems to be fixed now, and we've identified the cause, so hopefully this won't happen again (at least not in this form); another busy day at work tracking down lots of little problems, but at least something went right.
-->Got in a lunch walk, but stayed in for afternoon exercise as it got pretty hot and muggy! Turned into an AC night. . .weird to think it's actually supposed to be pretty cool tomorrow! RI weather -- it is strange.
-->Got another good chunk on "Secundus 2" done -- the steam train has been summoned, Doc has ranted delightfully at Gillen, and they're just about to set out to chase down the villains and rescue Jennifer and Clara! Unfortunately, said villains do have a surprise in store when they catch up. . . I may have struggled with bits and pieces of this story, but I am HERE for this train chase! :D
-->Watched a bunch of Sims videos! James had the penultimate episode of "Rags To Riches Island Edition" (mostly just a montage of him selling as many basked goods and old toddler stuff that he could, with the goal of getting the family funds to $50,000 so he could renovate the house and thus officially call Banana rich so he could move onto Column's series in the new game pack); and Plumbella has her honest opinion on buying Realm of Magic (don't if you're just interested in the CAS stuff; do if you genuinely want witches and magic gameplay -- unless you hate bugs like any unplayed household or random townie turning into a spellcaster) and a survey she did about what people like and hate about The Sims 4 in general (people generally like the style and how CAS and Build Mode work; major complaint is lack of depth in gameplay and lack of stuff for children and elders to do. I can dig it, especially since my Sims have started having families recently and I have struggled with what to do with the kids sometimes. . .). So yeah, it's been a very Sims night. Kinda wish it had stayed with the videos, but then I'd rather know about the bugs now than later. . .
-->Got more of my VLA queue done -- keeping a couple of days at three slots to reblog some neat stuff my friends have done that I keep meaning to comment on but keep forgetting. . .now that it's in the queue, I have no choice. :p
-->Also paid off my credit card, so that's good -- kept forgetting to do THAT too (fortunately the payment wasn't actually DUE for a while).
So yeah, I was pretty productive until I spotted those glitch posts on Twitter. *sigh* Again, we'll see how I feel about things as the weekend comes closer. It might be in my best interest to wait just to see what happens with those bugs/what mods I want. Need to redo the list of stuff I kind of wanted before RoM was announced and see what's what with those. . .
But first, I need to answer some comments and sleep. Two more days to get through! At least today wasn't nearly as cranky-inducing as yesterday. . .hopefully that means tomorrow will be better still. Night all!
