A Fairly Lazy Sunday Too
Oct. 6th, 2019 11:09 pmOnly today was a bit more Sims-themed than vampire-themed. :p The daily round-up:
-->Watched a couple of riddle videos. . .from Laurenzsides. Yeah, a couple of HER 7-Second Riddle videos popped up in my recommendeds, so I went ahead and checked them out. New YouTuber, but still very funny. XD Especially when she took on the scary riddles that 7-Seconds apparently compiled for Gloom to deal with. XD Good stuff, good stuff. . .
-->Also watched the following Sim-related videos:
A) Someone making a video on Sacrificial's latest mod, Life Tragedies -- Sims can get kidnapped, be bullied, either be the victims of or commit armed robbery, and even contract fatal illnesses and die in someone's arms. Not exactly my play style, much like most of Sacrifical's stuff, but something that I think I'd enjoy watching in a Call Me Kevin video, for instance. XD
B) A sick Deligracy checking in on the family she generally plays when she's not recording LPs and the like. . .and discovering the boyfriend of the matriarch apparently cheated on her and had a child with this other woman! And he's more in love with this other woman (that Deli didn't even KNOW ABOUT) than Peyton, the woman he's living with, so -- well, he's getting kicked out. This is what happens when Sims run wild and are allowed to flirt with each other recklessly, everyone! Makes for good drama, I guess.
C) Plumbella touring some deliberately bad builds people made for her tag "plumbellabadbuilds" -- had some hilarious stuff, like a one-room "house" suspended at the top of FOUR STORIES OF STAIRS; a house made to look like Eliza Pancakes's face from the outside and a creepy murder obsession den of her from the inside; and a house that was basically "I am going to use every wallpaper, every flooring, and every window in this build, AND make all the seating the fancy toilet, and YOU CAN'T STOP ME" XD Really good stuff!
D) James's latest set of "Rags to Witches" -- Column got a potion from the Sage of Mischief Magic that was supposed to work more or less like the Potion of Youth (resetting her age in her current age range), but instead ADVANCED her age so she's about to age up into an adult. Reasons unknown why it backfired like that (though Column WAS suffering her curse at the time), but it led to an episode of James desperately trying to find the ingredients for the potion so he could try making it the RIGHT way and keep Column a young adult. Not entirely sure why he didn't just get the Potion of Youth (I mean, I would argue that this is a legit reason to use it), but it made for some entertaining complaining. (I hate how many of those collectible rocks turn out to be time capsules too!) Currently he's in the Magic Realm because he thinks she can't actually age up there, but he's got to figure out a solution soon. . .or just let the age-up happen as a natural consequence of her actions. On the plus side, she now knows all potions and all mischief magic -- AND she's got the copypasto spell, so making more of any potion is going to be an absolute BREEZE. XD
E) Carl's Sim Guide on the weaknesses of The Sims 4 -- namely, that gameplay currently lacks depth -- and what he thinks should be done to fix them. He touches on a lot of the major problems - namely, traits don't affect your Sims as strongly as they should; emotions are way too volatile and easily changed; careers are largely interchangeable; whims aren't specialized enough to the Sim; and aspirations are too easy. I can agree with him on a lot of this, and even recommended a mod that adjusts the emotions so they have longer-lasting effects and suchlike that he might like. I do enjoy playing Sims 4, but some of the wanting aspects of the game have just grown more prominent over the years, and -- well, it took some effort to stop me having a good long rant of my own about what I'd want from an ideal Sims game in the comments. ^^;
-->Speaking of mods, I grabbed the ones I needed to stop Bob Pancakes and company from randomly showing up in the Magic Realm, and popped back into Emmett and Nikal's house to make them Spellcasters! Emmett got his magic from Morgyn Ember, Sage of the Untamed; Nikal hers from Simeon Silversweater, Sage of the Practical. So far they've just done some exploring of the Magic Realm, found some Skull familiars (I wanted the dragon!), and experimented with their powers. Nikal is the only one who knows a spell, though -- Repairio! The next time something breaks, it can be instantly repaired! Or, if she crafts something, she can instantly increase its quality! So that'll be fun! I also need to make them a magic-practicing room, but -- maybe after a couple more paychecks. XD
-->And, back on the vampire note -- I have Officially Started "Londerland Bloodlines," the fic! Aaand am already running into problems like "oh crap, where the hell am I supposed to set things?" ^^; Part of me just wants to make up street names, given this is World of Darkness fictional L.A., part of me wants to keep a modicum of reality in there. . .but given I have no idea where exactly in L.A. the hub worlds are supposed to be set. . .I've gone with "make up a name" for this first draft, but I suspect I'm going to do a lot of looking up stuff about Los Angeles in the near future! Maybe I'll be lucky and someone else has already done some of the legwork in figuring out where the hub worlds' real-life counterparts are. . . *shrug* It'll get easier once I get past this opening and into the game proper, I'm sure. I hope?
-->And I completed my Valice Multiverse queue, though I got really stuck on one ask because I was trying to figure out a good reason WHY Kindred would want David Hatter's screenplay destroyed because there's already five tons of vampire media out there, was he really that big of a threat? (Probably not, but vampires are petty and paranoid, as Alice knows pretty well by that point in the game.)
And now I have to go to bed -- work tomorrow, and I am tired. Though I think this is at least partly PMS tired as opposed to regular tired. . . Better get a pad in my bag for work, just in case. Hopefully tomorrow will be all right, work-wise and writing-wise. Fingers crossed, everybody! Night all!
