Those couple of downs consisting mainly of A) Mom coming home really stressed from visiting a friend in the hospital (whose family doesn't seem to be going to see her at all), and B) my computer having a little moment about a half-hour ago where first YouTube froze up in an unusual way, and then Firefox froze, then my whole computer froze. Had to force a restart, which -- ugh. Made another backup immediately afterward -- the darn thing seems to be behaving itself now, but it felt touch-and-go for a minute there! I really hope this thing isn't nearing the end of its lifespan -- I need to at least finish my Bloodlines LP! (Mostly because I'm not entirely sure I could use the same save file if I had to reinstall the notoriously-jank game on a new system. . .)
Mostly, though, the day has been good:
-->Got my room all cleaned up -- took a little longer than I would have liked, due to some morning lazing-about and a lunchtime interruption (spinach pies from Twin's Pizza and chips, om nom), but it's all set for another couple of weeks, yay
-->Watched a couple of GrayStillPlays videos -- one about letting the worst possible people into your end-of-the-world bunker to help rebuild civilization (he let a cannibal in on his first run, and naturally got an ending where everyone tore each other apart; the second run, he actually had a NEGATIVE SCORE in one of his stats, and yet managed to make it to the point where the survivors could wander the surface again. . .and THEN they started tearing each other apart XD); and one about a scientist in space doing experiments to see if birds can fly in zero gravity (really) and answering various text messages from friends and family, and taking silly online quizzes which I believe affect some of your text message answers (our sad scientist discovered their significant other was cheating on them and cut off contact, BUT managed to save their zero-gravity birds from the heartless bosses that were going to jettison them into space by spinning the birds as money-makers with twitter accounts and plushies and the like). Good silly stuff from the torture machine that is Gray. :p
-->Played some Bloodlines -- Alice has made it to Hollywood! And her conversation with Isaac has pretty much guaranteed she hates him. I mean, I knew she wasn't going to react well to him asking for tribute, but the way he gets all pissy about LaCroix and his "prince" title, calling it antiquated and nothing he'll ever recognize, and then turning around and telling her that she has to get this video tape for him and that she'll be doing the same when she's older when she asks about the old ones liking their leashes. . .and then later apologizing for being imperious but these young vampires just don't know their place, you know? She is no-holds-barred going to call him "Prince" at some point because she sees NO DIFFERENCE. (Well, one difference, Isaac probably isn't actively hoping she dies at some point. Probably.) But yeah, I've done the "Dead Ex" quest, getting the second half of the snuff film, and I'm about to start on "Snuff Is Enough" to get the full thing. Though I might first stop by the Luckee Star or Vesuvius, depending on how I feel and what I think needs to get done first. . . Also, met Samantha, the protag's mortal friend! She shows up right after you visit Isaac. So that's when Victoria's gonna recognize Victor. Alice is going to encourage them to catch up while she chases down the tape. :) And so starts the beginning of all the poly. . .
-->After that, got all my notes typed up, and updated my pre-game timeline -- I came up with a better idea for separating Victor and Victoria (namely, she moves to L.A. FIRST after a final big fight with her parents, and then Maudeline intercepts a letter she left for Victor to explain and just mails him herself to say she's gone and not to write them again; Victor, having no idea what happened, decides he's going for a new start too and just happens to pick the same city), and I compressed the CB portion of the timeline down a bit -- I felt like Victor and Victoria shouldn't have been dating for that long before everything goes down, nor should Victoria put up with her parents' shenanigans for that long either. So now it all takes place over about four months. We'll see what future tweaks I make!
-->Then we had an Outstar marathon:
A) Her sum-up of her interview with the Bloodlines 2 dev, which basically consisted of "these people REALLY REALLY love Seattle and are willing to warp lore a bit to fit the history of the place" XD But hey, at least we know we're getting a good representation of the city! :) And I'm eager to see some of the stuff she mentioned, like the more polished combat, all the climbable buildings, the beautiful locations with fewer loading screens, etc. Still wish we could toggle between first and third person, but I think I'll live.
B) Her (deliberately) crappy Photoshop recreation of the opening scenes of Bloodlines 2, which she got to see at ParadoxCon. Our character not only got turned into a Thin-Blood during the Mass Embrace, they then got staked and proceeded to stay that way for two weeks. O.O And then when they're unstaked, they're brought to a courtroom to give testimony on the Mass Embrace before being murdered. . .except someone sets the building on fire and they have to escape that while everyone else burns. And then they end up manipulated by this strange woman to see a person named Domenic, who then gets killed by Mr. Stabby the evil Malkavian, who almost stabs the protagonist as well before saying they're not on his list. And then the protagonist finally goes to Domenic's old apartment and meets their landlord, Dale, who is apparently a cowardly little shit and proud of it. XD But they're willing to sell shit to the Thin-Blood and let them stay in Domenic's old apartment, so that's cool. It was all very goofily done (the protag was represented by our favorite Malk girl XD), but it was nice to get some details on the game! I'm looking forward to actually experiencing this thing.
C) Her announcement that the Bloodlines soundtrack has been remastered and rereleased by the composer himself! And she got a signed vinyl copy from him! :D And he's doing a Q&A, so she's taking questions! Rik Schaffer sounds like a nice guy, I gotta say -- and I'm looking forward to hearing how he answers everyone's questions. (Mine was his inspiration for the awesome Bloodlines 2 theme.) And I'm all for a rerelease of the soundtrack -- it's out on CD too, so if I can find it at Hot Topic or Newbury's the next time I'm in the mall, I might pick it up for my collection! It's awesome music, I wouldn't mind putting it into the rotation. :)
-->And then, after my little computer issue (*sigh*), I also watched a short clip of some questions asked of Michael J. Fox at one of the big BTTF reunions a few years back in honor of the day. I probably shouldn't be so amused by him complaining about all the times he got clipped by the DeLorean door. . . XD Him talking about how Christopher Lloyd is a great actor who makes exposition fun, or how all the nerdy folks he met at the convention were great people, and he's happy to call Marty McFly a nerd if that makes him like them, was genuinely heartwarming, though. :) Good guy, Michael.
-->And I got the next Scene From Secundus up: Losing My Newly-Touched Son To These Mad People, aka Nell's perspective of the part in Chapter 19 of "Secundus" when Doc took Victor out of the wreckage of Looking-Glass House and told her that he's Touched. Features a -- not that horrible Nell? At the very least, she's genuinely frightened he might have died, though her worries do end up taking more of a turn toward "turning him back into the person who generally did what I wanted, if not very well" near the end. And her reaction to hearing he's Touched is -- kind of ouch. It's just not a very happy story, is what I'm saying.
And now I'm doing some of the RP thing, and trying to get my Victor Luvs Alice queue sorted. . . tomorrow, I believe we're still on for bowling in the morning. So I probably won't get online until after lunch. . . Hmmm. Must find way to balance Hitman and Sims 4 content. Maybe watch the long OXBox Hitman 2 livestream, then move into all the Sims stuff? Should work. . . We'll see how the day actually pans out, though. :p Night all!
