"Are We Back?"
Dec. 26th, 2004 11:37 pmWe're back. Naples got rained out, believe it or not.
-DW: I can't say I'm too upset -- sand's hell to get out of fur -- but damn it!-
-D: It's FREAKING SNOWING here! I want to be where it's warm!-
-M: We just had to go when it was raining, huh?-
-MDC: Rain's better than snow.-
-VJ: *scowling at white outside* You can say that again.-
Oh, quit yer belly-aching. I'm not all that eager to be back myself. I was expecting a wonderful sunny vacation. Instead I'm stuck in a car for most of it.
-M2: So were we! We know how it feels!-
-VM: Heck, it was probably worse on us than it was on you -- you sit in front of that computer all day.-
There's a difference between sitting at a stationary computer and being strapped into a moving car, ya know. *frown at MiniDamosCrawler* And I know for a fact one of us wasn't with the group the whole time.
-MDC: Ah -- heh.-
Sunday, December 19th:
Ugh. Had a horrible night before -- I didn't fall asleep until after one. Means I'm basically operating on three hours sleep, probably less. Luckily the boys got all rested and piled into the cars willingly. DocWolf drove for the early morning, while the vampires caught some sky time. Doc, Marty, and Jennifer kept an eye on MiniDamosCrawler.
-J: Which isn't easy.-
-MDC: *bows*-
The day was grey and overcast -- we even ran into a very thick bank of fog in New Jersey. I managed to catch a little sleep in the car. We all made it to Florence, South Carolina, in one piece, and got a night's sleep.
-J2: Except for DocWolf -- he paced the hotel room all night.-
-DW: I felt antsy.-
Monday, December 20th:
Another day on the road -- at least I've gotten some sleep, and it's fairly sunny out. However, it's also COLD. Just our luck, we're driving down during a cold snap!
-VD2: And suddenly we're all glad to have warm coats and long pants.-
-DW: Or thick fur.-
We made it to Orlando and our hotel by late afternoon. We're across the street from the Ripley's Believe It Or Not, which is a fancy "palace" that's built tilted, like it had been in an earthquake. We take a walk around -- it's chilly, but better than RI. Turns out a lot in Orlando is built in an interesting manner.
-VD2: And that "Titanic" place was a nice place to rest for a while.-
Tuesday, December 21st:
After picking up some sandals for Dad at Wal-Mart, it's off to Universal Studios! The day starts off cold, but gets warm fast, and I end up wearing my shorts by lunchtime. We do the proper Universal Studios half today, and get some incredible luck with all of the rides -- I don't think we have to wait any more than a half hour for any of them. "Shrek 4-D" seemed a tad different than last time, but still a great show. We finally got to see "Jimmy Neutron" -- not bad. Really, though, it's a new, more "modern" Hanna-Barbera ride. "Twister" and "Earthquake" are the usual cool times -- I love that "Earthquake" features clips from BTTF Parts II & III during the beginning "special effects" talk.
-D: It certainly was interesting, seeing ourselves like that.-
"Men In Black" was fun, but of course the highlight of the trip for me was "BACK TO THE FUTURE!" *cheer* The ride was cool as always -- I was yapping through it, and making kissy faces at Doc.
-Docs: *roll eyes*-
-VD: It was fun, but there's something vaguely disturbing about watching yourself in that sort of context.-
-M: *snort* I liked the "Doc Brown: The Inventive Years" film.-
-D: I plead sleep deprivation for the sawdust pancake mix.-
Unfortunately, things weren't so great over at the BTTF store. Turns out it's probably going to be closing soon, or at least becoming something different. It's full of "Monster Garage" and "Overhaulin'" crap. *reminds self to kick hosts in nuts* Even still, I imagined to get:
A new DeLorean pin
A BTTF blue glass
A "flying DeLorean" pullback car that makes sparks -- if you have the Doc Brown McDonald's toy, it's like that
A BTTF spoon -- seriously, it's a small spoon with the BTTF II "DeLorean through clock" thing embedded in the handle
A Woody Woodpecker "Certified Coaster Chicken" keychain (not BTTF, but it goes with my shirt)
A BTTF: The Ride magnet
Later, at the "T-2: 3-D" show/ride, I upped the ante with:
A "Hasta La Vista, Baby" T-shirt
A "T-2" book, "Hour of the Wolf" -- unfortunately, upon reading it, I realized it's a middle book in a series, darn it
I also had a BTTF hot dog for lunch, along with chocolate cake from the Monster Cafe and a Universal Twister (soft serve ice cream blended with flavored sauce and M&Ms). After Universal, we had an excellent dinner at Pizzeria Uno's. A very great day, wouldn't you agree?
-DW: We would. I didn't even mind MiniCrawler teasing me.-
Wednesday, December 22nd:
Not quite so good, if only because of two events. We headed to Islands of Adventure today, and lucked out majorly -- once again, short wait times. Heck, we got on "Spider-Man" in five minutes!
-MDC: *squaky* Spider-Man! Spider-Man!-
-M2: *grinning* That was fun!-
Yeah, Spidey's a great ride! I grabbed:
A double-backed Spidey pin -- Spidey is attached with "webbing" (chains) to a web-splat you pin
Hulk and Wolverine pins -- I've somehow lost Wolverine, but I suspect he's in the car
Nightcrawler pin -- it's kinda like a mini painting :)
A Wind-Up Nightcrawler that waves his tail and moves his arms while walking
-DW: MiniCrawler likes that a lot.-
-MDC: *preening* It's like having my own statue.-
Marvel Mini-Mates: Unmasked Spidey and Doc Ock
Spidey "girly" shirt
We head over to Jurassic Park, and I manage to make a complete ass on myself on the "River Adventure." You see, when it comes to those sorts of rides, I get nervous stomach, and it doesn't help I have a touch of acrophobia. Generally, though, I can keep that to myself. Not this time. This time, I panicked. Despite the fact I like those rides, I whined all the way through. Wonderful, Mom and Dad get to tease me. Luckily I recover my nerve in time for "Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls." We have lunch at Suess Landing, our first "proper" meal there.
-D: If you can call it that. I think more was put into the architecture than the food.-
It's a theme park, what do you expect? Our restaurant was like a circus big top, and had performers swinging from the ceiling and stuff. :p Plus, as it was before Christmas, we got to see it all decked out for "Grinchmas." They were even doing a live version of "How The Grinch Stole Christmas." We caught "Poseidon's Fury" next, then Mom and Dad did "Dueling Dragons."
-M2: Question: Why is it you'll go on "Dudley Do-Right," which you yourself said has one of the steepest drops in water rides, but you won't get on a roller coaster?-
Honestly, I don't know. Roller Coasters freak me out in a way water rides don't. I think it goes back to that "acrophobia/nervous stomach" thing. Anyway, after walking around for a good long while, I had blisters from my sandals. Mom kindly switched shoes with me to give my feet some relief. We went back to ride BTTF one more time, as it was supposed to rain tomorrow. I think I got the best seat in the house for the last ride -- right by the door, second floor, end DeLorean.
-VJ: *nodnod* That was great.-
-VM: I especially liked it when Biff begged for help.-
-VD2: *evilly* Me too.-
Interesting things I've noticed -- I don't think they did Doc's eyebrows for the ride! Look at them -- they look brown in most of the ride pics. And, I'm not totally sure on this one, but I think Biff spells "butthead" with a single "t". :p
We came back to the hotel, bandaged my blisters, and played a cool game of mini-golf at "Pirate's Cove." Mom won the day, but I got two holes in one -- and won a free game token by getting one on a certain hole. :D
Thursday, December 23rd:
Rain was in the forecast, and rain it does, off and on all the way down to Naples. Miserable driving weather, and even more miserable going out weather. The rain does eventually let up, and we walk on the beach. Mom and Dad also take a swim and do laundry while I read. That night, we walk around "Tin City," a tourist trap mall, and have a nice supper at TGI Fridays. But all is not well -- turns out our Naples part of the vacation is going to be rained out! Mom and Dad don't want to stay if they can't go anywhere, and I don't blame them.
-DW: We, however, don't want to leave the warm weather, rain or no rain.-
-VD: We attempt to tell Victoria to go on ahead and we'll come back in a few days.-
No go -- my muses go where I go. I finally get them to come with the promise I'll write more on the way back.
Friday, December 24th:
It's offical -- we're leaving. We pack up and head away, taking a detour through the country. It's a miserable, cloudy, cool day. Once at our hotel, we decide to exchange gifts early. Mom loves her hoodie sweater, and Dad his new pedometer and wallet. For my part, I got something I expected for my birthday -- Spider-Man 2, DVD and novelization! This inspires MiniDamosCrawler to plague me with something
martyfan and I discussed before I left -- Doc with the "Doc Ock" tentacles.
-MDC: *evil laugh*-
-D: *imagines self with tentacles* They would be damn useful. . . .-
-M: Too bad putting them on tends to make you crazy.-
-D: Yeah.-
Saturday, December 25th:
We spend Christmas driving back home and scouting out places to live in North Carolina -- Mom and Dad have been turned off Florida by the sheer busy-ness of the place. *sigh* We make it to Richmond, and have a terrific dinner at Denny's. I finally get the milkshake I've been craving.
-VD: Mmmmm-
Yeah, it was good. We ended up giving our waitress a $20 tip. :) And I had my chocolate Santa.
Today:
Woke up early, which was a good thing -- a snowstorm was moving in, and we had to move. Fairly boring ride home -- but Mom and Dad have surprised me with a new computer chair for my birthday. :D I've almost killed myself twice on it, but. . . . We just beat the snow to RI -- it's very white outside right now.
A few quizzes, then bed. We're all pretty tired.
-J: I'll say. Not a fun way to get home.-
Ganked from various people:

How evil are you?
-D: Oh come on, I'm sure you're a tad on the evil side.-
-VD2: Yeah, what does she call terrorizing us?-
Love. :p

Which Incredibles Character Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla
Great, Home Alone is one of my favorite movies.
Figures. :p

VENOM
-Real Name: Edward "Eddie" Brock
-Current Occupation: Mad killer bent on revenge
-Former Occupation: Journalist for the Daily Globe,
short stint as a Vigilante between murdering
sprees
-Major Enemies: Spider-Man, Carnage, Life
Foundation, Juggernaut, Scarlet-Spider, Jury
-Powers: Brock's powers stem from his symbiotic
relationship with the alien that serves as his
costume. The symbiote can mimic any type of
clothing whatsoever, as well as blending Venom
in his surroundings, rendering him invisible.
The symbiote has augmented all of Brock's
physical abilities to superhuman levels equal
to, and in some cases greater than,
Spider-Man's.
-Abilities: Venom also possesses the ability to
adhere to most sufaces. Venom can animate any
part of his costume and can fire a web-like
substance from his hands. Because the symbiote
was previously attached to Peter, it knows how
to shield itself from Spider-Man's
spider-sense.
-Limitations: The symbiote is extremely sensitive
to sonic and thermal attacks.

Welcome Back! :O)
And now I'll never have a chance as I get motion sick now a days- I felt ill going to the IMAX when they had this 3D Adventure thing.
But you got a great haul of stuff! My bro brought a Doc Brown Troll at Universal Studios, we've still got him upstairs. Do they still sell those?
Anyway look forward to seeing more stuff on you webpage especially Doc Ock! :OD
BTTF.Com's Board is down though! The Deprivation is getting to me!
Re: Welcome Back! :O)
Date: 2004-12-27 06:07 pm (UTC)Nope, they don't sell Doc Brown Trolls anymore -- is he like one of those happy little trolls with the gemstones in their belly I used to have? And yeah, I'm happy with the stuff I got, especially my new pin collection. (And I found Wolverine too!)
I noticed the board was down. *hopes it comes back up soon*
Whoops-Misunderstood Slang term
Date: 2004-12-28 12:29 am (UTC)The Doc Brown Troll was one of those bigger trolls, he had white hair and a lap coat and silver glasses. I really do wonder where he's gotten to, he's upstairs somewhere...
Oh, and pike wasn't a misspelling it's slang for wimping out, at least here in Aus!
And it's a shame about the BTTF Board, but I'm looking forward to the new web design and maybe we'll finally see the original 1967 BTTF II script.
